Book Offshore Company Fundamentals

Download or read book Offshore Company Fundamentals written by David Offshorman and published by Triangle Marketplace, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-05-18 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everything starts out small... The author of this book once heard this mysterious word offshore for the first time, too. And he, too, asked himself questions like: ‘What does a registered agent do?’, ‘How much do nominee services cost?’, ‘Why do I need an apostille?’, and ‘Where is it better to open a bank account?’. It is this inexperienced reader that the book is intended for, and its title speaks for itself. ‘Offshore Company Fundamentals’ contains basic information that is necessary to anyone who, on hearing the word Panama, thinks of a broad hat, rather than of ‘Panama Papers’. However, a sophisticated reader will also appreciate the survey of events and facts without which the topic can hardly be considered properly covered, although they do not exactly qualify as ‘fundamental stuff’: — Panama Papers and other offshore leaks – What data will be available in the era of worldwide exchange of information: sometimes the future looks back at you from your computer screen; — Cyprus deposit haircut 2013, an event that usually makes one lose faith in humanity, but in this case for some reason the only thing lost was money; — How to open a bank account in the new environment? – Learning to fly is easier; — International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), an organisation that is more like an elite Boy Scout task force digging up compromising material on the powers that be if they are in any way associated with offshores; — Where is the nominee director heading? – Wherever he is heading, now you will not be going the same way; — Compliance Officer, a bogey that sophisticated businessmen use to scare children into good behaviour. The more recent popular questions also include: What are CFC rules? Will I need to comply with economic substance requirements? How does the automatic exchange of tax information work? Why set up a trust? Of course, the author could not but cover these highly relevant topics, too. Whether he has succeeded in this and other tasks is up to you to decide!

Book Offshore Pioneers Brown Root and the History of Offshore Oil and Gas

Download or read book Offshore Pioneers Brown Root and the History of Offshore Oil and Gas written by Joseph A. Pratt and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1997-11-03 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fifty years ago, in November 1947, Brown & Root helped Kerr-McGee build the first out-of-sight-land offshore platform that produced oil. The date is widely celebrated as the birth of the modern offshore industry. In the years since this historic occasion, Brown & Root has continued to pioneer in the design and construction of offshore pipelines and platforms. Along with the rest of the offshore industry, the company has helped develop technology capable of finding and producing oil in deepwater and in harsh environments around the world. This history puts a human face on the process of technological change. Using the words of many of those who took part in Brown & Root's offshore activities, this book recounts their efforts to find practical ways to recover offshore oil. Building on lessons learned in the Gulf of Mexico before and after World War II, the company's personnel adapted offshore technologies to conditions encountered in Venezuela, the Middle East, Alaska, and other regions before becoming one of the first engineering and construction companies to confront the challenge of North Sea development in the 1960's.Through times of boom and bust in the oil industry, the search for effective technology had continued. The process has not always been smooth, but the results have been impressive. As we enter a new and exciting era in offshore technology, the history of the first fifty years of the industry provides a useful context for understanding current and future events.

Book Offshore Well Completion and Stimulation

Download or read book Offshore Well Completion and Stimulation written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2019-05-08 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While the public is generally aware of the use of hydraulic fracturing for unconventional resource development onshore, it is less familiar with the well completion and stimulation technologies used in offshore operations, including hydraulic fracturing, gravel packs, "fracpacks," and acid stimulation. Just as onshore technologies have improved, these well completion and stimulation technologies for offshore hydrocarbon resource development have progressed over many decades. To increase public understanding of these technologies, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine established a planning committee to organize and convene a workshop on Offshore Well Completion and Stimulation: Using Hydraulic Fracturing and Other Technologies on October 2-3, 2017, in Washington, DC. This workshop examined the unique features about operating in the U.S. offshore environment, including well completion and stimulation technologies, environmental considerations and concerns, and health and safety management. Participants from across government, industry, academia, and nonprofit sectors shared their perspectives on operational and regulatory approaches to mitigating risks to the environment and to humans in the development of offshore resources. This publication summarizes the presentations and discussions from the workshop.

Book Offshore Mechanics

Download or read book Offshore Mechanics written by Madjid Karimirad and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-05-07 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Covers theoretical concepts in offshore mechanics with consideration to new applications, including offshore wind farms, ocean energy devices, aquaculture, floating bridges, and submerged tunnels This comprehensive book covers important aspects of the required analysis and design of offshore structures and systems and the fundamental background material for offshore engineering. Whereas most of the books currently available in the field use traditional oil, gas, and ship industry examples in order to explain the fundamentals in offshore mechanics, this book uses more recent applications, including recent fixed-bottom and floating offshore platforms, ocean energy structures and systems such as wind turbines, wave energy converters, tidal turbines and hybrid marine platforms. Offshore Mechanics covers traditional and more recent methodologies used in offshore structure modelling (including SPH and hydroelasticity models). It also examines numerical techniques, including computational fluid dynamics and finite element method. Additionally, the book features easy-to-understand exercises and examples. Provides a comprehensive treatment for the case of recent applications in offshore mechanics for researchers and engineers Presents the subject of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element methods (FEM) along with the high fidelity numerical analysis of recent applications in offshore mechanics Offers insight into the philosophy and power of numerical simulations and an understanding of the mathematical nature of the fluid and structural dynamics with focus on offshore mechanic applications Offshore Mechanics: Structural and Fluid Dynamics for Recent Applications is an important book for graduate and senior undergraduate students in offshore engineering and for offshore engineers and researchers in the offshore industry.
