    Book Details:
  • Author : Krzysztof Jarosz
  • Publisher : American Mathematical Soc.
  • Release : 2007
  • ISBN : 0821840614
  • Pages : 402 pages

Download or read book Function Spaces written by Krzysztof Jarosz and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2007 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book consists of contributions by the participants of the Fifth Conference on Function Spaces, held at Southern Illinois University in May of 2006. The papers cover a broad range of topics, including spaces and algebras of analytic functions of one and of many variables (and operators on such spaces), $L{p $-spaces, spaces of Banach-valued functions, isometries of function spaces, geometry of Banach spaces, and other related subjects. The goal of the conference was to bring together mathematicians interested in various problems related to function spaces and to facilitate the exchange of ideas between people working on similar problems. Hence, the majority of papers in this book are accessible to non-experts. Some articles contain expositions of known results and discuss open problems, others contain new results.

Book Introduction to Spectral Theory in Hilbert Space

Download or read book Introduction to Spectral Theory in Hilbert Space written by Gilbert Helmberg and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-11-28 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: North-Holland Series in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 6: Introduction to Spectral Theory in Hilbert Space focuses on the mechanics, principles, and approaches involved in spectral theory in Hilbert space. The publication first elaborates on the concept and specific geometry of Hilbert space and bounded linear operators. Discussions focus on projection and adjoint operators, bilinear forms, bounded linear mappings, isomorphisms, orthogonal subspaces, base, subspaces, finite dimensional Euclidean space, and normed linear spaces. The text then takes a look at the general theory of linear operators and spectral analysis of compact linear operators, including spectral decomposition of a compact selfadjoint operator, weakly convergent sequences, spectrum of a compact linear operator, and eigenvalues of a linear operator. The manuscript ponders on the spectral analysis of bounded linear operators and unbounded selfadjoint operators. Topics include spectral decomposition of an unbounded selfadjoint operator and bounded normal operator, functions of a unitary operator, step functions of a bounded selfadjoint operator, polynomials in a bounded operator, and order relation for bounded selfadjoint operators. The publication is a valuable source of data for mathematicians and researchers interested in spectral theory in Hilbert space.

Book Von Neumann Algebras

Download or read book Von Neumann Algebras written by J. Dixmier and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-08-18 with total page 479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, we study, under the name of von Neumann algebras, those algebras generally known as “rings of operators“ or “W*-algebras.“ The new terminology, suggested by J. Dieudonng, is fully justified from the historical point of view. Certain of the results are valid for more general algebras. We have, however systematically avoided this kind of generalization, except when it would facilitate the study of von Neumann algebras themselves. Parts I and I1 comprise those results which at present appear to’be the most useful for applications, although we do not embark on the study of those applications. Part 111, which is more technical, is primarily intended for specialists; it is virtually independent of Part 11.

Book Functional Analysis and Geometry Selim Grigorievich Krein Centennial

Download or read book Functional Analysis and Geometry Selim Grigorievich Krein Centennial written by Peter Kuchment and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2019-07-26 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first of two volumes dedicated to the centennial of the distinguished mathematician Selim Grigorievich Krein. The companion volume is Contemporary Mathematics, Volume 734. Krein was a major contributor to functional analysis, operator theory, partial differential equations, fluid dynamics, and other areas, and the author of several influential monographs in these areas. He was a prolific teacher, graduating 83 Ph.D. students. Krein also created and ran, for many years, the annual Voronezh Winter Mathematical Schools, which significantly influenced mathematical life in the former Soviet Union. The articles contained in this volume are written by prominent mathematicians, former students and colleagues of Selim Krein, as well as lecturers and participants of Voronezh Winter Schools. They are devoted to a variety of contemporary problems in functional analysis, operator theory, several complex variables, topological dynamics, and algebraic, convex, and integral geometry.

Book Infinite Products of Operators and Their Applications

Download or read book Infinite Products of Operators and Their Applications written by Simeon Reich and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2015-03-30 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the workshop on Infinite Products of Operators and Their Applications, held from May 21-24, 2012, at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel. The papers cover many different topics regarding infinite products of operators and their applications: projection methods for solving feasibility and best approximation problems, arbitrarily slow convergence of sequences of linear operators, monotone operators, proximal point algorithms for finding zeros of maximal monotone operators in the presence of computational errors, the Pascoletti-Serafini problem, remetrization for infinite families of mappings, Poisson's equation for mean ergodic operators, vector-valued metrics in fixed point theory, contractivity of infinite products and mean convergence theorems for generalized nonspreading mappings. This book is co-published with Bar-Ilan University (Ramat-Gan, Israel).

Book Iterative Methods for Fixed Point Problems in Hilbert Spaces

Download or read book Iterative Methods for Fixed Point Problems in Hilbert Spaces written by Andrzej Cegielski and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-09-14 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iterative methods for finding fixed points of non-expansive operators in Hilbert spaces have been described in many publications. In this monograph we try to present the methods in a consolidated way. We introduce several classes of operators, examine their properties, define iterative methods generated by operators from these classes and present general convergence theorems. On this basis we discuss the conditions under which particular methods converge. A large part of the results presented in this monograph can be found in various forms in the literature (although several results presented here are new). We have tried, however, to show that the convergence of a large class of iteration methods follows from general properties of some classes of operators and from some general convergence theorems.
