Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides full-scale field tests of different types of pile foundations. For the testing, it includes static load tests which consider various loading orientations, dynamic load tests, inclinometer monitoring and tests that aim to determine the load transfer mechanism of pile foundation. This book also covers the up-to-date popular topic with detailed project studies. This includes the academic investigation of post-grouting technology effect on drilled shaft piles, the research of displacement and non-displacement precast pile foundation, the study of fiber-reinforced polymer material used in the geo-technical environment such as deep excavation pit in tunneling project, and the research of super-long and large diameter pile foundations. These investigations provide essential and academic information for researchers as well as engineers in role of Civil and Geotech. Not only the different types of the piles are studied, but also the relevant theory and literatures are reviewed. In this book, the diagrams are plotted in an easy way and the explanation of the diagrams and tables are described in detail. The research methods corresponding to the practical projects are detailed as well. Hence, it is useful as a reference for the students and researchers in civil and geotechnical engineering.

Book Dynamic Testing of a Full scale Pile Cap with Dense Silty Sand Backfill

Download or read book Dynamic Testing of a Full scale Pile Cap with Dense Silty Sand Backfill written by Todd J. Valentine and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Full-scale dynamic lateral load tests were performed on a pile cap with a dense silty sand backfill condition. Two hydraulic load actuators connected a test pile cap with a reaction cap. The load actuators incrementally loaded the test cap up to 50 mm of displacement. After each load increment, the displacement was held constant while an eccentric mass shaker induced dynamic loads under a ramping sequence from 1 Hz to 10 Hz. A baseline response was developed under a no backfill condition. Passive soil pressure was measured using pressure cells and tactile sensors.

This book was released on 2019-11-23 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Piezocone and cone penetration tests (CPTu and CPT) applications in foundation engineering includes different approaches for determining the bearing capacity of shallow foundations, along with methods for determining pile bearing capacity and settlement concepts. The use of soft computing (GMDH) neural networks related to CPT records and Geotechnical parameters are also discussed. In addition, different cases regarding the behavior of foundation performance using case records, such as shallow foundation, deep soil improvement, soil behavior classification (SBC), and bearing capacity are also included. Provides the latest on CPT and CPTu performance in geotechnical engineering, i.e., bearing capacity, settlement, liquefaction, soil classification and shear strength prediction Introduces soft computing methods for processing soil properties and pile bearing capacity via CPT and CPTu Explains CPT and CPTu testing methods which allows for the continuous, or virtually continuous, record of ground conditions

Book ICE Specification for Piling and Embedded Retaining Walls

Download or read book ICE Specification for Piling and Embedded Retaining Walls written by and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition retains the three-part approach of the second edition. Part A is an introduction to the essential concepts necessary to procure a piling or retaining wall contract. Part B is the specification and is still the only part of this document intended for incorporation in contracts. Part C provides guidance for use of the specification and essential background information for specifiers and contractors alike. Unlike the second edition, Part 3 guidance notes immediately follow the relevant Part 2 specification requirements. The three sections provide the reader with a full compendium without being overly prescriptive.

Book Development of a Strain Wedge Model Program for Pile Group Interference and Pile Cap Contribution Effects

Download or read book Development of a Strain Wedge Model Program for Pile Group Interference and Pile Cap Contribution Effects written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strain wedge model formulation is used to evaluate the response of a single pile or a group of piles (including its pile cap) in layered soils to lateral loading. The formulation is appropriate over the entire strain or deflection range that may be encountered in practice. The method allows development of p-y curves for the single pile that are a function of both soil and pile properties (i.e., pile size, shape, bending stiffness, and pile head fixity condition). Such p-y curves can be used with other soil-structure interaction (SSI) programs.
