Book excerpt: The perfect gift! A specially priced, beautifully designed hardcover edition of The Joy of the Gospel with a foreword by Robert Barron and an afterword by James Martin, SJ. “The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus… In this Exhortation I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come.” – Pope Francis This special edition of Pope Francis's popular message of hope explores themes that are important for believers in the 21st century. Examining the many obstacles to faith and what can be done to overcome those hurdles, he emphasizes the importance of service to God and all his creation. Ultimately, Pope Francis demonstrates how to develop a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ, “to recognize the traces of God’s Spirit in events great and small.” Profound in its insight, yet warm and accessible in its tone, The Joy of the Gospel is a call to action to live a life motivated by divine love and, in turn, to experience heaven on earth. Includes a foreword by Robert Barron, author of Catholicism: A Journey to the Heart of the Faith and James Martin, SJ, author of Jesus: A Pilgrimage

Book The Secrets of Apostolic Success

Download or read book The Secrets of Apostolic Success written by Oppong Kyekyeku and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-04-19 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is certainly clear to every believer the distinction between the early church and our contemporary church. Spiritually speaking, it seems we are serving a different God or Christ. For example, the early church evangelized extensively; but now, especially the western churches, are sleeping excessively. They healed the sick, but now the church folks are sick with all kinds of diseases without cure. They cast out evil Spirits, but now there are evil Spirit possessors in the church more than ever before. They were sufficient in every spectrum of life, but now the church members are deficient in every spectrum of life. They shared everything with each other, but now Christians are keeping everything for themselves, even tithes. They were selfless with the attitude of putting others first, but now the church folks are selfish with the attitude of me, I, and myself first. They were willing to die for Christ at any cost, but now Christians want Christ to die for them again for no cost. Finally, they turned their world upside down, but now the world is turning the church upside down. The church needs to wake up; otherwise, our next generation will suffer the defeat of apostasy as the children of Israel suffered after the death of Joshua. This book is meant to assure you that you have all that it takes, by the grace God has given to you through Jesus Christ, to do exactly what the apostles did. aEURoeAll things are possible.aEUR Absolutely nothing is impossible to you if you put your faith in Christ Jesus into action as others did. This is your moment while everyone is sleeping or ignoring authentic, supernatural power since challenges produce champions.

Book Authority Accountability and the Apostolic Movement

Download or read book Authority Accountability and the Apostolic Movement written by Stephen Crosby and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a new apostolic movement afoot, and it is leading many from the simplicity of the pure gospel. To be legitimate, the teaching emphasis and ministry expression of present-day apostles and prophets must reflect a correct gospel foundation: . the person and work of Christ as its focus, . spiritual death and resurrection as its method, . and the indwelling Spirit as its power. Instead, the new apostolic reformation movement, with its emphasis on apostolic authority, "spiritual covering," loyalty, honor, submission, and government, has become the vehicle to build the philosophies and kingdoms of men. Dr. Stephen Crosby's third book, Authority, Accountability, and the Apostolic Movement, probes these and other authority/submission issues from a biblically disciplined, Christ-centered, New Covenant perspective. Within these pages, every believer, church leader, apostle, or prophet who may have wandered from the simplicity of the gospel can find the road to recovery. Oh, where was this book when I was in seminary!? As the fourth in a spiritual lineage of shipwrecked preachers, I can testify to the life-threatening impact brought on by the stress of liv-ing under a faulty understanding of authority and control in the church. I have one thing to say about this book: better late than never! This book is a must read for all Christians. -Pastor Chris Savino, Wasilla, AK Dr. Stephen Crosby and his wife, Rita, have pioneered churches in four states and ministered in churches, seminars, and Bible schools internationally. Steve graduated from Corning Community College, Corning, NY and Christian International School of Theology, Santa Rosa Beach, FL and is an adjunct professor for BeaconUniversity Insti-tute of Ministry. Steve and Rita currently direct the Wave of Life Education Schools and Semi-nars and itinerate in prophetic-apostolic ministry. They have three grown children and five grandchildren.

Book excerpt: Who decides what your church (local or denominational) will look like twenty-five or thirty years from now? How can you ensure that your church will continue to fulfill its God-given purpose in the next generation? What can be done now to reverse negative trends in ministry such as pastoral burnout? Much of the answer to these questions about pastors and other local church leaders is tied to the training they receive. Training Spirit-Filled Local Church Leaders for the Twenty-First Century encourages all stakeholders in ministry training—educators, pastors and other local church leaders, church members, and those who sense God is calling them to ministry—to prayerfully consider the foundational issues that determine the effectiveness and relevance of a ministry training program. These foundational issues are: •What is the local church, really? •What is spiritual leadership? •What is ministry training? •What is the role of the Holy Spirit in all this? •What did effective training look like in the past, and what might it look like in the twenty-first century?

This book was released on 2016-05-20 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Apostolic ministry is grounded in the fact that the God of Scripture is a sending God who graciously reaches out to a fallen world. Jesus is both the supreme revelation of the God who sends and the perfect example of one who is sent as an apostle. The church is an apostolic people sent into the world. Jesus appointed the Twelve with unique authority as witnesses to the resurrection. Paul shared in that unique authority but also demonstrated that the ministry of apostle continues in a functional sense. The spiritual gift of apostle is given to individuals to equip the whole church in its apostolic calling. Apostles are called by God, but their calling is to be recognized by the body of Christ. The ministry of an apostle is trans-local and involves both church planting and strengthening existing churches. The authority of an apostle is determined by the apostle's willingness to be a servant of the gospel and of the body of Christ. An apostles are recognized by their pioneering and translocal ministry of church planting and church strengthening. Apostles function best as leaders of apostolic bands that are in partnership with local churches. Throughout history various individuals, at the forefront of the church's mission, have demonstrated an apostolic ministry. Today a number of models of ministry point the way to the contemporary functioning of apostolic ministry. Apostolic ministry functions best when it is conducted in both power and weakness. As such it reflects the dual reality of the cross and resurrection in the ministry of the apostle. The gift of apostle has been given for the church's strengthening and equipping in its mission. Individuals with an apostolic ministry should be recognized and released to that function if the church is to be true to its calling in the world. The church began its existence as a missionary movement. The church is apostolic, not only because its teachings are founded on the Apostles, but because it is commanded by Jesus to take the gospel to every people group and wherever the gospel is met with faith, to found churches that continue the process.
