Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Responding to failure in ministry is painful for all touched by it. The journey toward failure is unchosen, undesired, and unplanned. When it occurs, we all ask ourselves this one question: why? The result of failure is the loss of many well-trained and adequately equipped men and women from churches. Often, they disappear into oblivion. This has been true throughout history. It’s not a new problem. Witness the experiences of Abraham, David, Elijah, and Peter in Scripture. They served well, but they also failed, disappointing God and their associates. Modern pastors, too, become entrapped in situations of fear, loneliness, depression, and failure. We must address ways to prevent failure and learn about possibilities for intervention in order to be the witnessing church that God intends us to be.

Book The Ancient Hebrew Lexicon of the Bible

Download or read book The Ancient Hebrew Lexicon of the Bible written by Jeff A. Benner and published by Ancient Hebrew Research Center. This book was released on 2021-06-28 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All previous Biblical Hebrew lexicons have provided a modern western definition and perspective to Hebrew roots and words. This prevents the reader of the Bible from seeing the ancient authors' original intent of the passages. This is the first Biblical Hebrew lexicon that defines each Hebrew word within its original Ancient Hebrew cultural meaning. One of the major differences between the Modern Western mind and the Ancient Hebrew's is that their mind related all words and their meanings to a concrete concept. For instance, the Hebrew word "chai" is normally translated as "life", a western abstract meaning, but the original Hebrew concrete meaning of this word is the "stomach". In the Ancient Hebrew mind, a full stomach is a sign of a full "life". The Hebrew language is a root system oriented language and the lexicon is divided into sections reflecting this root system. Each word of the Hebrew Bible is grouped within its roots and is defined according to its original ancient cultural meaning. Also included in each word entry are its alternative spellings, King James translations of the word and Strong's number. Indexes are included to assist with finding a word within the lexicon according to its spelling, definition, King James translation or Strong's number.

Book Second Witness Analytical and Contextual Commentary on the Book of Mormon

Download or read book Second Witness Analytical and Contextual Commentary on the Book of Mormon written by Brant A. Gardner and published by Greg Kofford Books. This book was released on 2007-09-01 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stop looking for the Book of Mormon in Mesoamerica and start looking for Mesoamerica in the Book of Mormon! Second Witness, a new six-volume series from Greg Kofford Books, takes a detailed, verse-by-verse look at the Book of Mormon. It marshals the best of modern scholarship and new insights into a consistent picture of the Book of Mormon as a historical document. Taking a faithful but scholarly approach to the text and reading it through the insights of linguistics, anthropology, and ethnohistory, the commentary approaches the text from a variety of perspectives: how it was created, how it relates to history and culture, and what religious insights it provides. The commentary accepts the best modern scholarship, which focuses on a particular region of Mesoamerica as the most plausible location for the Book of Mormon’s setting. For the first time, that location—its peoples, cultures, and historical trends—are used as the backdrop for reading the text. The historical background is not presented as proof, but rather as an explanatory context. The commentary does not forget Mormon’s purpose in writing. It discusses the doctrinal and theological aspects of the text and highlights the way in which Mormon created it to meet his goal of “convincing . . . the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God.”

In the Garden of Eden where God created man and the animals, but before he did that, he created some fine trees. Why did God create trees? Why did he do so with the bark, the branches, the leaves and the fruit all so different? Why did he not do it all of the same kind? Trees sway in the wind, and sometimes, storms and hail have come down on the trees. How did God work out the flexibility of trees? When the seasons come and go, the trees will still be there. Man, in all his wisdom, has forgotten the tree.

Book Conquering Wickedness

Download or read book Conquering Wickedness written by and published by Ashiofu Isaac. This book was released on 2023-12-02 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Friends wickedness is real and of a true the heart of man is the root and abode of all wickedness. The world today is so wicked that you don’t need to do anything to attract wickedness because the world is already wicked and being alive alone is an issue with the wicked not to talk more of when it seems that you are gaining advantages on the earth. The desire of the wicked is to keep the victims and continuously see them in perpetual pain and sorrow. The Adamic nature is a wicked nature and so wickedness has prevailed since the days of the garden of Eden. A victory over wickedness is our triumph into glory as ordained by God for every redeemed. But the wicked won’t just stop doing wickedly. They need to be stopped. And for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son to pay the ultimate price of drinking of the cup of wickedness from the wicked. All forms of the instrument of cruelty was released to him and for our glory he became a ransom to exchange our destiny from the snare of the fowler. The cup of wrath was emptied by Jesus so that life and it’s bitterness can become sweet and glorious again for the redeem that care to engage in its demands.
