Book Neuropsychodynamic Psychiatry

Download or read book Neuropsychodynamic Psychiatry written by Heinz Boeker and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-11 with total page 637 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comprehensive neuropsychodynamic strategy for treating psychiatric disorders. Rather than pursuing an exclusively biological, psychological, or psychodynamic approach, it offers a methodology that links all three aspects in a unifying, integrative model. Central to this approach is the view of the brain as a bio-psychosocial organ in a neuro-ecological model, rather than the purely neuronal model often presupposed in current neuroscience and psychiatry. Moreover, the book views psychopathological symptoms as spatiotemporal disorders of the altered spatiotemporal structure spanning the brain and its surrounding world. The relation between one of the core symptoms and altered neuronal activity calls for the development of integrated, circular neuropsychodynamic models of psychopathological symptoms in severe psychiatric disorders and their treatment.

Book Sources of Knowledge and Entrepreneurial Behavior

Download or read book Sources of Knowledge and Entrepreneurial Behavior written by David B. Audretsch and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2019-01-01 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sources of Knowledge and Entrepreneurial Behavior delves into the nature and importance of the relationship between sources of knowledge and entrepreneurial behavior, and should be of interest to both academics and policy-makers. David B. Audretsch and Albert N. Link use the Knowledge Spillover Theory of Entrepreneurship as the conceptual foundation for why individuals decide to become entrepreneurs. Then, using a database of more than 4,000 small and relatively new European companies from 10 different countries, called the AEGIS database, Audretsch and Link offer new insights about the relationship between knowledge sources and entrepreneurial behavior. In their analysis of the empirical evidence in support of the Knowledge Spillover Theory of Entrepreneurship, Audretsch and Link conclude that there is no singular source of knowledge driving entrepreneurship, but a plethora of knowledge sources, each associated with different dimensions of entrepreneurial activity. The intellectual breakthrough in this book is not that knowledge matters or that it especially matters for entrepreneurship. Rather, Audretsch and Link show that knowledge, and especially entrepreneurial knowledge, is not a homogeneous phenomenon. There are multiple sources of knowledge that act on entrepreneurial performance in a myriad of ways.

Book Frank Ankersmit s Lost Historical Cause

Download or read book Frank Ankersmit s Lost Historical Cause written by Peter Icke and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-11-12 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contemporary Dutch historical theorist/philosopher Frank Ankersmit, an erstwhile advocate and promulgator of what has become known as "the linguistic turn" in historical theory, is very well known within the discipline. His early position with regard to the historical text is frequently discussed and evaluated today, and his writings on the subject are often cited. However, this former narrativist position, so robustly and effectively defended by Ankersmit in the past, has been progressively marginalized by Ankersmit himself as his current and radically different theoretical position, most fully expressed in his recent publication Sublime Historical Experience, now (for him) takes precedence. Yet, despite this radical shift in Ankersmit's position, this conspicuous "conversion" of an eminent prime mover in the field of mainstream language centred historical theory, there has been no comprehensive and sustained (investigative) critique of his various works taken in the whole. Consequently, there has until now been no close reading and analytical dissection of that whole, such that Ankersmit's overall trajectory of philosophical thought might be adequately discerned, and perhaps even explained. In short, there is a vacant space here, and the function of this book is, precisely, to fill that space.

  • Release : 2010
  • ISBN : 1921555424
  • Pages : 517 pages

Download or read book The Human Psyche written by Peter Snow and published by Boolarong Press. This book was released on 2010 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Human Psyche is a far reaching expose of human identity that seeks to unify the startling new insights gained from modern neuroscientific studies of higher consciousness, with insights gained from introspection and philosophy. In simple, straightforward prose and diagrammatic form it presents several new models of the generation of, and interactions between, the neural centers that are responsible for thought, emotion and mood. It will be of particular interest to neuroscientists, neurologists, biologists, mental health professionals, students of religion and philosophers and indeed all those fascinated by human behavior, its origins in the animal world and its implications for our future. The Human Psyche reminds us that we live in a time when science finally has significant answers about the true nature and origins of human behavior a perspective that heralds a new era that will inevitably see the dissolution of many hallowed, though plainly stagnant institutions and the establishment of a new world.
