Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leaving behind both fear and belief, Samael Aun Weor explains through vivid stories what happens when we die and how we can prepare ourselves now to take full advantage of the experience. Instructions to prepare the soul for the process of dying and the experiences of the afterlife are found within the scriptures of every mystical tradition, especially the Bible, The Theban Recension (Egyptian Book of the Dead), and the Bardo Thodol (Tibetan Book of the Dead), yet they are veiled in cryptic symbolism and are difficult for most people to understand. Now, for the first time, this book fearlessly approaches the topics of death, dying, and the afterlife for our day and age -- and for those who are tired of theories and are ready to know the truth through their own experience.

Download or read book There Is Life After Death written by Roy Abraham Varghese and published by Red Wheel/Weiser. This book was released on 2009-10-25 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is death the end? Or, to put it another way, do we survive bodily death? Some shrug their shoulders and declare we simply can't know. Others just say no. And a few, flying their philosophical colors, pretentiously profess to not even understand the question. Curiously, the overwhelming majority of human beings throughout the course of history have taken it for granted that death is not the end, that there is a life after death. This striking and seemingly instinctive belief has been embodied in the religious traditions and philosophical reflections of most cultures. There Is Life After Death is the first of its kind in that it assembles and analyzes a comprehensive range of data on life after death and then provides the framework needed to understand the data. No previous book has presented such concrete evidenceevidence based on the accounts of eyewitnesses as well as on data derived from diverse sources through out the world and historysupporting the exi

Book Death in the Early Twenty first Century

Download or read book Death in the Early Twenty first Century written by Sébastien Penmellen Boret and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-07-18 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focusing on tradition, technology, and authority, this volume challenges classical understandings that mortuary rites are inherently conservative. The contributors examine innovative and enduring ideas and practices of death, which reflect and constitute changing patterns of social relationships, memorialisation, and the afterlife. This cross-cultural study examines the lived experiences of men and women from societies across the globe with diverse religious heritages and secular value systems. The book demonstrates that mortuary practices are not fixed forms, but rather dynamic processes negotiated by the dying, the bereaved, funeral experts, and public institutions. In addition to offering a new theoretical perspective on the anthropology of death, this work provides a rich resource for readers interested in human responses to mortality: the one certainty of human existence.

Book The World after the End of the World

Download or read book The World after the End of the World written by Kas Saghafi and published by SUNY Press. This book was released on 2020-04-01 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Examines themes of loss and mourning in the late work of Derrida. In this book, Kas Saghafi argues that the notion of “the end the world” in Derrida’s late work is not a theological or cosmological matter, but a meditation on mourning and the death of the other. He examines this and several other tightly knit motifs in Derrida’s work: mourning, survival, the phantasm, the event, and most significantly, the term salut, which in French means at once greeting and salvation. An underlying concern of The World after the End of the World is whether a discourse on salut (saving, being saved, and salvation) can be dissociated from discourse on religion. Saghafi compares Derrida’s thought along these lines with similar concerns of Jean-Luc Nancy’s. Combining analysis of these themes with reflections on personal loss, this book maintains that, for Derrida, salutation, greeting, and welcoming is resistant to the economy of salvation. This resistance calls for what Derrida refers to as a “spectro-poetics” devoted to and assigned to the other’s singularity. “Saghafi’s book makes a remarkable contribution as a coming-to-terms with interminable mourning.” — Peggy Kamuf, author of To Follow: The Wake of Jacques Derrida

Book excerpt: Will anything of us survive after death? This is a central question when we ask what life means. All through history, societies and their cultures, in particular their religions and philosophies, have guided and sustained people as they have approached death and as they have mourned. A more secular society has made these comforts less accessible. Many beliefs formerly advanced with some authority and believed with some assurance have become incredible to many. After Death? offers a thought-provoking analysis of past and present beliefs for those who want to think for themselves about the greatest uncertainty of life.

Drawing on some of the most powerful theories and trends in physics, evolutionary biology, science, philosophy, and psychology, D'Souza shows why the atheist critique of immortality is irrational. It is not only reasonable to believe in life after death; it is also beneficial. Such a belief gives depth and significance to this life, a path to happiness, and reason for hope.
