Book The Shadow of Christ in the Book of Job

Download or read book The Shadow of Christ in the Book of Job written by C. J. Williams and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2017-03-10 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Job has been a rich source of truth and comfort for its readers throughout the ages, but the crowning glory of this book is the prophetic testimony it bears to the sufferings that Jesus Christ would endure as the savior of his people. The Shadow of Christ in the Book of Job examines the historical character of Job as a typological figure, whose experience of suffering leading to glory was meant to portray the work of Christ, and provide assurance and comfort to all who bear affliction in faith.

Book From the Shadows to the Savior

Download or read book From the Shadows to the Savior written by Douglas Van Dorn and published by . This book was released on 2015-05-08 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few subjects are as important--yet ignored or misapplied--as the one addressed in this book. Jesus Christ is the absolute center and focus of the totality of God's word. Many people confess this belief, since Jesus himself taught it (Luke 24:27; John 5:39). Christians have done well to see this on one or two levels, yet truly understanding just how primary he is as an actor-even in the Old Testament-is something few have considered. In this book, adapted from a series of blog posts for the Decablog, Douglas Van Dorn helps us see the light of Christ that emerges from the dark hallways of Scriptures that so many find outdated, unintelligible, and irrelevant for today's Church. Learn how Christ is found in such things as prophecy, typology, and the law. Then, come in for a deeper study of how the Person himself is actually present, walking, speaking, and acting, beginning in the very first book of the Bible. Learn how words such as "Word," "Name," "Glory," and "Wisdom" are all ideas that the Scripture itself attaches to Christ who in the OT is called The Angel of the LORD. Then see if such ideas don't radically change the way you think about all of God's word in this truly life-changing summary of Christ in the Old Testament.

Book excerpt: "Jesus in the Shadows" is asking one big question: When Luke tells us in Luke 24:27 that Jesus showed His disciples "the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures," just how are we meant to take the word "all"? Was it intended to be figurative-just Jesus' way of saying, "Hey, no worries, there are a few verses about Me in that book we all like so much, and when you figure them out, you can use them to write your own book and really get the word out"? Or did He mean something immeasurably more? What if some of the most well-known Bible stories (like David and Goliath, Daniel in the Lions' Den, and Jonah and the Whale) are really just Jesus-stories? What if when Luke used the word "all" he really meant ALL? What if the disciples have learned a new way to approach Scripture from the Master, Himself-having their minds opened to the true understanding that God's plan has been right in front of His people the entire time (Luke 24:45)? In "Jesus in the Shadows," Eric Robinson looks very closely at seven of the most well-known Bible stories in all of Scripture, showing how they are actually just thinly-veiled descriptions of Jesus' ultimate work of salvation. Written on a level for any Bible-believer (or any searching heart), Jesus in the Shadows will give a foundation of faith that God's plan was written down in complete detail over centuries before Jesus' body was laid in a manger in Bethlehem. You will never be able to read your Old Testament the same again. Endorsements from bestselling authors: "From the moment the first chapter of this off-the-hook book begins, 'What if Jesus led a Bible study?' I was hooked. You will be too. Hear the Jesus story as it should be told, from Genesis to Revelation." Leonard Sweet, best-selling author and professor, chief contributor to sermons.com "This is a highly readable book, written to be understood by everyone, showing how the Jesus story permeates all the Scriptures. The chapters enable the reader to see how the entire Bible was meant to prepare for Christ, and I recommend it highly." Grant Osborne, author of The Hermeneutical Spiral "Eric Robinson presents a stunning portrait of Christ throughout the ages. I was blown away, again and again, by the insights on every page. If you've ever wondered how the Old and New Testaments fit together, read this book. You'll discover JESUS in all His glory, just as God painted Him for us, on the canvas of human history. Dr. Andrew Farley, bestselling author of The Naked Gospel and God Without Religion "Eric Robinson has written a wonderfully insightful study from the Hebrew Scriptures, showing how they point to Y'shua ha Mashiach, Jesus the Messiah. In a day when stories are becoming more and more important as vehicles for communicating truth, this book is a great reminder of how God has woven the promise of a redeemer throughout His revelation to Israel. If you love to study the Bible you will gain fresh insight into the eternal purposes of God through reading this refreshing book." David Brickner, Executive Director of Jews for Jesus, author of Christ in the Feast of Pentecost

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can the universal church know it needs a change, a renewal of truth, if the people don’t even know we have a serious problem? What if evil influence got into the foundation of our Christian doctrine back in the Dark Ages, hiding the true character of God, turning multitudes against the God of Jesus Christ, and stealing our faith and miracles? Wouldn’t you want to know it? These pages address the fables in our Christian doctrine and include the truth about God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—the one true God. I feel like a lawyer for God, and the evidence is pure Scripture. Knowing who God is and His design of divine partnership with His children will assist you in believing in the power of your own prayers that will produce your miracles. Without the church coming back to what Jesus taught about God, it could continue to render itself helpless against evil principalities and their hold on mankind. Isn’t it time God was out of the shadows? America and this world are desperate to see the miracles of God!

Book Waters of Creation A Biblical Theological Study of Baptism

Download or read book Waters of Creation A Biblical Theological Study of Baptism written by Douglas Van Dorn and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-08-01 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the one book on baptism that you must read. It was seven years in the making. The author believes that until a new approach is taken, separations over the meaning, mode, and recipients of baptism will never be bridged. This new approach traces the roots of baptism deep into the OT Scriptures. When understood properly, we discover that baptism is always the sign that God has used to initiate his people into a new creation. Baptism in the NT is not "new." Rather, it derives its origin from OT predecessors. When we understand that baptism comes from baptism, especially in its sacramental expression in the priestly covenant, reasons for the NT practice begin to make perfect sense. Now Baptists have an argument that infant Baptists can finally understand, because we are beginning our argument in the same place. Yet, we continue to have very baptistic conclusions as to the mode and recipients of baptism, because we root baptism in baptism rather than circumcision.

Download or read book Shadows of His Sacrifice written by Leslie Hardinge and published by TEACH Services, Inc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sometimes questions are asked regarding the value of a detailed study of the sanctuary. Why, when we have the Christ of the New Testament, do we need to go back into the Old? I find no problem in the way of such a study. You have seen the beautiful illustrations in the books that are sold in Christian bookstores. Do you think that the artist painted these from memory? Why no! He used many models. Today these models, living and inanimate, need not sit for long hours before the artist. He simply takes a colored transparencies of the sections of his picture by posing the model for a few minutes. When he is ready to paint, he works these colored segments together, studying each part in detail. It is for a similar reason that God has given us the details of the sanctuary. We should study each part minutely. Only then will we be able to see Christ in His fullness. We can comprehend only one point at a time. Jesus is the Sacrifice. He is also the preist. He is the Shekinah, and He is also the veil. He is every whit! In order to discern the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, the Mediator of mankind, the Saviour of the race, the Redeemer--King, we must synthesize all aspects of the tabernacle. While we may spend time on one part of His ministry, we should keep in mind that He is many-sided. It is only thus that we will come to understand the One Who is altogether lovely, the chiefest among ten thousand, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
