Download or read book On the Passion of Christ written by Thomas A' Kempis and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2010-09-13 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A perfect complement to the movie, The Passion of The Christ, this book presents reflections that will enable the reader to focus deeply on the true meaning of the Passion. In his famous spiritual classic, The Imitation of Christ, Thomas À Kempis reminds the reader that in order to become a follower of Christ one must imitate his life, and to accomplish this he adds: "Let it then be our main concern to meditate on the life of Jesus Christ. It is impossible to imitate Christ without first knowing him, and the best way of getting to know him is by meditating on his life as it is described in the four Gospels." Thus, in this wonderful meditation book, perfect for Lent, or any time of the year, the great spiritual writer and monk gives profound, short reflections on Gospel passages about the passion and death of Christ. Each chapter, focusing on a specific aspect of the Passion of Our Lord, gives a prayer, a meditation and spiritual advice and closes with another short prayer. Very much in the same style as his The Imitation of Christ, this book covers the entire Passion, and makes great spiritual reading for anyone. Illustrated.

Download or read book Don t Let Life Stop You from Living written by Georgette Elizabeth Correa and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2016-03-19 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dont Let Life Stop You from Living springs from the personal experiences and insights of Georgette Elizabeth Correa, who found the books title flowing through her thoughts one day while sharing a heartfelt conversation with a friend. The phrase has worked on her, giving focus to her reflections on how to live fully and richly. As she notes in the Introduction, We somehow allow circumstances to defeat us: we stop trying; we stop dreaming; we just stop. Then, we do just enough to survive by doing what we must, not what we want. We even give up on love, happiness, and unfortunately on ourselves. Life can be hard at times, but it only seems unbearable when you dont have a deeper understanding of who and what you are. Dont Let Life Stop You from Living notes the given things: each person has a life to live; life will throw challenges in ones path; changes are inevitable. What one does about these given truths is what makes ones life joyous or tragic. The choices one makes and the attitudes one adopts are the fruits of ones personal decisions. If you have the sense that, no matter what has happened to bring you to this point in your life, you stand in a spot where you can decide what will come next, then Dont Let Life Stop You from Living will encourage, embolden, and empower you to make those decisions and to live.

Book excerpt: YouaEUR(tm)re holding in your hands now, Solutions to all of your relationship challenges for now and the future. One of the finest book about love and forgiveness we have ever read, this inspiring book guides us how to reach the full potential to a lasting commitment of joy, peace, forgiveness, and endless love while fulfilling yourself daily. The best-loved teaching and forgiveness show us how we can transform all life difficulties of the couple into a valuable opportunity for building a healthy relationship we have been looking for a long time. When weaEUR(tm)re talking about love or forgiveness, is there really Western or Eastern love? Does not everyone seek happiness, joy, peace, unconditional love, financial security? Do we not seek a wise, intelligent, and captivating man or woman to build forgiveness and love based on mutual respect, understanding, responsibility, integrity and humility, faithfulness, effective communication, family, and community spirit? Human being is perfectly imperfect, but we can be perfected in love, forgiveness, and kindness. Each of us has already been hurt, betrayed, and despised by our wife or our husband, and would like to hear the words: aEURoeI apologize sincerely,aEUR aEURoeI am sorry for everything that has happened between us,aEUR aEURoeI truly regret everything,aEUR aEURoeI love you tremendously,aEUR aEURoeYou are adorable,aEUR aEURoeWe will get there. I trust you,aEUR aEURoeI promise to be faithful, supportive, and loyal.aEUR ShouldnaEUR(tm)t you also think about forgiving, loving, having patience for your husband and for your wife who was yesterday the prince charming or the woman of your dreams who no longer has any value in your eyes today? YouaEUR(tm)re saying, aEURoeHeaEUR(tm)s my enemy.aEUR ArenaEUR(tm)t you someone elseaEUR(tm)s enemy? Our greatest enemy, isnaEUR(tm)t that ourselves? When you remind your husband of things that have happened in the last twenty years, or explain to your friends and colleagues the private life of your relationship or the mistakes of either one of you, arenaEUR(tm)t you destroying the relationship by thinking youaEUR(tm)re hurting your husband or wife? Teeth sometimes bite the tongue, but they remain together. Let us be merciful and slow to anger, rich in kindness and fidelity. Love is patient; it is full of greatness and sacrifice. Should we not be a source of love in order to know the height, depth, length, and width of love? Love is strong as death. Death, life, and environmental difficulties can never overcome immeasurable love. At the point where we have reached, let us walk with the same step, eye to eye, hand in hand, with the same vision. We have a lot more in common than you think. I only have a minute. Sixty seconds in it. Forced upon me, I did not choose it, but I know that I must use it. Give account if I abuse it. Suffer, if I lose it. Only a tiny little minute, But eternity is in it. (Rep. Elijah Cummings) DonaEUR(tm)t ever make decisions based on fear. Make decisions based on hope and possibility. Download or read book Rembrandt s Passion Series written by Simon McNamara and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2015-05-13 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rembrandt’s Passion Series is the name given to five paintings of similar size and format executed over a six year time-frame, 1633–39. The works were commissioned by Frederick Hendrick, Prince of Orange and Stadtholder of the United Provinces, for his gallery at The Hague. Although each of the paintings depicts a traditional scene from the Passion of Christ, they do not form anything like a complete Passion Cycle. Seven years later, Hendrick ordered a further two works of the same size and format of subjects from the Nativity of Christ. Six of the seven paintings now hang in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich. As the works were executed between Rembrandt’s well-documented early Leiden period and his rapid rise to prominence as a portraitist in Amsterdam, the works have not attracted the scholarly attention they might, although the commission was undoubtedly the most prestigious of the young Rembrandt’s career. Rembrandt’s Passion Series is the first monograph to focus solely on this important group of paintings by the most famous artist of the Dutch Golden Age. In it, Simon McNamara traces the history of the commission by way of extant documentation, places the works in a seventeenth-century Dutch religious milieu, and shows how the series is both reflective of contemporary theological exegesis and embedded in theoretical artistic debates of the age. The book also highlights the extraordinary nature of the self-images seen in three of the paintings and discusses the legacy of the series in later graphic works by Rembrandt and in paintings by his pupils. In doing so, Rembrandt’s Passion Series presents a series of unifying factors, both stylistically and thematically, for the works that allows the Passion Series to be properly, and finally, called a “series”.
Download or read book Drive to Passion written by Ted Obomanu and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-11 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The methods of attaining great heights are frequently discussed, with many postulations propounded by pundits and individuals of phenomenal accomplishments, yet reaching the pinnacle of such heights remains ever so elusive to the masses; hence, only a select few are able to make these extraordinary strides. In Drive to Passion, Ted Obomanu chronicles the lives of a few highly accomplished individuals: - Harland Sanders, a perfectionist, who was the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC); - Winston Churchill, the vivacious and popular prime minister of Britain, who led his country to victory during the Second World War; - Joseph Kennedy, patriarch of the Kennedy clan, business mogul, and kingmaker; - Sidney Poitier, acclaimed actor and the first African-American movie star to receive an Oscar in a leading role; - Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest presidents of the United States, responsible for the abolition of slavery; - Suze Orman, financial guru and popular TV host who epitomizes passion; - Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the United States, who accomplished this unprecedented feat despite its improbability; - Oprah Winfrey, owner of a TV network, one of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world, and was the host and producer of one of the most popular TV shows ever. Obomanu does this to explore firsthand how these individuals were able to reach the summit of their vocations. He also turns the chronicling of these great individuals' lives into an intriguing narrative, without compromising the lessons. Obomanu makes significant findings in this book: Passion more than anything else is responsible for success and greatness, which is self-evident in the lives of the great individuals he chronicles; to attain distinction, the quest for passion should always be centered around a niche; passion is fueled by drive, and a shift in focus from passion to the rewards of accomplishments, such as wealth, may potentially derail the attainment of success and greatness; mentors play a huge role in the accomplishment of our goals. At the conclusion of this great reading, Obomanu delves into how spirituality and personal development can greatly enhance the quest for passion and how the pursuit of passion can trigger happiness and longevity. He sums up by asserting that the aspiration of success and greatness should be driven by all the components of passion to ensure its sustainability and potential value to society.

A godly way of life is the way we conduct ourselves in our every thought, action, and reaction in our everyday lives to let the rest of the world see our Creator through us by doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. By following in "the way" in which Jesus Christ lived, a godly way, by living our lives in a godly way, we begin to crave more and more the teachings of the Bible and to learn the Bible, which teaches us how to love unconditionally, to be thankful, to glorify our Creator and to become a light, an example that the rest of the world can see our Creator's unconditional love, acceptance, and grace through us.
