Book FROM PIGSTY to PULPIT

Download or read book FROM PIGSTY to PULPIT written by Ernest Frederick Messmann and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-12-03 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the farm there was a pigsty with a barbed wire fence surrounding it. Ernie climbed inside. When a sow charged him, he retreated and cut himself as he ducked under the barbed wire. With blood all over his eye, his mom took him to the nearest medical facility, which was a tuberculosis sanitarium. A doctor there saw the injury was to the eyelid, not the eye. He sewed up the eyelid leaving a small scar. So Ernie was one of the few people in the world who was an outpatient at a tuberculosis sanitarium. It was a busy year for Ernie’s guardian angel.

Book From the Pulpit to the Pigsty to the Palace

Download or read book From the Pulpit to the Pigsty to the Palace written by Andrea Allen and published by . This book was released on 2013-03-24 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You Have to Trample Your "Drag-On" From the Pulpit to the Pigsty to the Palace exposes the tremendous need, in the Body of Christ, for its Deliverance. That deliverance is made possible through the death, shed blood, burial and resurrection of Christ. In Psalms 91, God admonishes us to trample our drag-on. We were equipped before we were formed, in our mother's womb Equipped with all the weaponry and power that we need in order to trample and annihilate our drag-on's! It is my, on purpose intent, throughout this book, to lead you on a spiritual journey by way of my personal experiences, to a land called deliverance. You too can grow from the pigsty to the palace! You are the Church! It is not enough to just 'do' church. You have to 'be' the Church. We are the "ecclesia", the called out ones. Christ said, "Upon this rock, I will build my Church." What is the Rock He wants to build on? THE CHURCH. The Church is NOT built on lies. It is NOT built on fornication and adultery. The Church is NOT built on drugs and alcohol, neither is it built on lust and deception. The true Church is built on Jesus Christ, the Rock of our salvation. It is time to stop going through the motions of busy church work. We have to be like Mary and sit at the feet of Jesus and let Him to minister to our needs! It is time to power up and be the Church that God has called us to be!

Book excerpt: Despite shifts in the religious landscape in North America--reflected in the significant increase in those with no religious affiliation and emptier pews across the religious spectrum--there has also been a rise in participation in faith-based grassroots organizations. People of faith are increasingly joining broad-based organizing efforts to seek social change in their communities, regions and country. This unique volume brings together the most current thinking on faith-based organizing from the perspective of theologians, social researchers and practitioners. The current state of faith based organizing is critically presented, as it has evolved from its roots in the mid-twentieth century into a context which raises new questions for its philosophical assumptions, methodology, and very future. This volume serves as a timely resource for those inside the academy as well as religious and organizational leaders wanting to understand and promote faith-based organizing in North America and beyond. Originally published as issue 4 of Volume 6 (2012) of Brill's "International Journal of Public Theology."

Download or read book THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY BACK written by Keith Tipple and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-02-09 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether you have wandered away and lost faith or never embraced real faith in Jesus Christ, this book will bring you new hope. Perhaps, on the other hand, you are praying for loved ones and friends to return or come to faith, this book will inspire you to believe in the god who answers prayer and that "there is always a way back." The casualties of life are everywhere, and deceptions are numerous. Many look back on wrong decisions, hurts, and broken relationships, and the scars and guilt from such things are etched into their hearts, leaving them with regrets that may have haunted them for years. The pull of a world system constantly seeks to take people as far away from God as possible and then leaves them wondering if there is any way back to real faith, peace, and hope. This book will bring you face-to-face with the truth that no matter what has transpired in your life, "there is always a way back." My challenge to you is to be prepared to take the journey this book sets before you and to seriously consider the truth Jesus taught as he told a simple story one day in order to illustrate the heart of his loving heavenly Father who is full of grace and truth and is always waiting to welcome home those who have wandered away. Whatever has transpired in your journey of life, no one is too far away that the grace and forgiveness of God cannot reach and restore. It's time to come home. Your heavenly Father is waiting, and everything is prepared because "there is always a way back." At the back of this book is the added bonus of questions for discussion on each of the nineteen chapters, which can be used in small groups. May you be blessed and encouraged as you read There Is Always a Way Back.

Book excerpt: Called to work on social justice in the church in the early 1960s, Paul Kittlaus tells his story of defining the issues for his time, finding colleagues who would be trusty companions on a rather rough path, learning and teaching skills for social change, and empowering both clergy and laity to define their faith in terms of justice for those who are poor and marginalized. He also calls to the church of today to place social change and justice at the center of its ministry.

Download or read book Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion written by Thomas Lloyd and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 760 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This sixth volume of the Buildings of Wales series covers two counties, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion (formerly Cardiganshire) in the south-west of Wales. Like the same authors' Pembrokeshire, the volume covers an architecture still little known, hut encompassing a sweep from prehistoric chambered tombs to the high technology of the world's largest single-span glasshouse. The Buildings of Wales, founded by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner (1902-83), will, when complete, document and describe the architecture of the Principality in seven regional volumes, complementing the sister series on England, Ireland and Scotland. In each one a gazetteer details all buildings of significance from megalithic tombs and Iron Age hill-forts, via grand seventeenth-century houses to Victorian domestic extravaganzas, great industrial centres and monumental public buildings. The countryside is explored to reveal churches, chapels, farmhouses, and traces of early industry. The gazetteer is complemented by an introduction which explains the broader context and builds a complete picture of the country's architectural identity. Each work is illustrated by numerous maps, plans and photographs, completed by glossaries and indexes, and gives a comprehensive and illuminating survey of the buildings of Wales.

Book Looking in the Other Direction

Download or read book Looking in the Other Direction written by Teun van der Leer and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-09-22 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study, Teun van der Leer tells the story of the Believers’ Church Tradition, a tradition, mainly rooted in the so-called Radical Reformation, which prefers to be called a movement, or rather a renewal movement. Its name is a program, a vision, and a way of being church. Based on extensive source research, this book describes and analyzes the defining characteristics of this so-called “third type of church” and investigates its ecumenical value. With an extensive description of its nature of faith, the church, hermeneutical discernment, and mission, this book colors a movement within the church landscape that has never been mapped in such detail before. As such, the book provides an in-depth introduction to this ecumenically important but still a bit underexposed movement and makes a substantial contribution to the ecumenical ecclesiological debate about the church and its future.
