Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How does life in each room of your home manifest the Gospel? The Christian gospel isn't just a spiritual reality. The Word became flesh and bone, and the gospel becomes our porch, dining room, bedroom, and kitchen. The driving desire of the gospel is "my life for yours." Our desire should be to have this love tranform everything we do, room by room. This book works its way through every part of the house, examining each part in light of Scripture. The claims of God are always total, and this is evident on the doorposts and in a sink full of dishes. Self-centeredness destroys in monotonously similar ways. Giving up life for another produces a harvest of kindness and mercy. Household questions should always begin with, "is this my life for yours?"

And the Blakelys could be forced to sell the one thing that continues to hold their disintegrating family together. When Preston Blakely suffers a stroke, his son Morgan returns from Montana to help run the property. Morgan’s mother, Mary Jane, has been estranged from Preston for years. Book Nuclear Dawn

  • Author : Kenneth D. McRae
  • Publisher : OUP Oxford
  • Release : 2014-03-20
  • ISBN : 019151084X
  • Pages : 313 pages

Download or read book Nuclear Dawn written by Kenneth D. McRae and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2014-03-20 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a rounded biography of Franz (later Sir Francis) Simon, his early life in Germany, his move to Oxford in 1933, and his experimental contributions to low temperature physics approximating absolute zero. After 1939 he switched his research to nuclear physics, and is credited with solving the problem of uranium isotope separation by gaseous diffusion for the British nuclear programme Tube Alloys. The volume is distinctive for its inclusion of source materials not available to previous researchers, such as Simon's diary and his correspondence with his wife, and for a fresh, well-informed insider voice on the five-power nuclear rivalry of the war years. The work also draws on a relatively mature nuclear literature to attempt a comparison and evaluation of the five nuclear rivals in wider political and military context, and to identify the factors, or groups of factors, that can explain the results.

Book A Warm Fire

Download or read book A Warm Fire written by Paul Jason Bartholomew and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2012-09 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to poet Paul Jason Bartholomew, a poet is a conductor who arouses and awakens the dormant inner sanctum of self-awareness. In his poetry collection, A Warm Fire: Poems of Faith, Family, and Friends to Warm the Heart, he uses passion and pathos as powerful motivating instruments in conducting a personal symphony to which we alone can harmonize. From picking berries and apples to tapping sap for maple syrup, pouring wax for fragrant candles, and from warm fires on snowy nights to sledding and autumn walks, the subjects of his poetry evoke a warm and happy life. Grab a mug of steaming coffee and come absorb the crackle and aroma of a cozy fire in the old stone fireplace as you dive into this new poetry collection, A Warm Fire. Curved and crooked is this leaf-strewn path originally made by a cow and her calf. still overlaced with leafy arms, like most local lanes to local farms. The road is special to my wife and me treelined sentinels for my family. Tread through mud, snow autumn leaves alone, we built a place at its end called Home! —from "The Lane"

Download or read book The Koryak written by Waldemar Jochelson and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2016-04-26 with total page 886 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 18th century, researchers and scientists have traveled the peninsula of Kamchatka in the Russian Far East. Many of them were of German origin and had been commissioned by the Russian government to perform specific tasks. Their exhaustive descriptions and detailed reports are still considered some of the most valuable documents on the ethnography of the indigenous peoples of that part of the world. These works inform us about living conditions and particular ways of natural resource use at various times, and provide us with valuable background information for current assessment. As the first profound anthropological descriptions of that region, the publications of the Jesup North Pacific Expedition, undertaken in the first years of the 20th century, marked the beginning of a new era of research in Russia. They represented a shift of the already existing transnational research networks toward North America. Jochelson’s work The Koryak was an important milestone for Russian and North American anthropology that provides to this day a unique contribution to thoroughly understanding the cultures of the North Pacific rim.
