Book From Insanity to Esctasy

Download or read book From Insanity to Esctasy written by Thomas McNeight and published by Chipmunkapublishing ltd. This book was released on 2011-06-01 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DescriptionIn this book I have shown how it is possible to move from insanity, even into ecstasy. I've described what insanity was for me and how I have even had ecstatic times. I've questioned what it is and tried to describe what insanity is and shown that it is possible to move into mental wellbeing. I have looked into my beliefs on God and the cosmos. I've questioned the very foundations of my beliefs. And I have posed the question what do we really know about these things. I have posited 'what do we really know about mental illness' in this stage of our journey as a race and how to treat it. I hope, if nothing else, to make people think about these things: the fundamental notions of nothingness, Godliness, and our capacity to heal. About the AuthorTom McNeight lives in Wanganui, New Zealand. In spite of his diagnosis as a paranoid schizophrenic, with the discrimination he has often experienced and the many manual occupations he has had to work at, he has lived an interesting and exciting life. This includes such adventures as mountaineering, parachuting, bungy jumping, tramping and working in the bush, and fishing. He has completed many philosophy papers at university and has developed a skill in both writing and painting. He continues to enjoy these activities, frequently holding painting exhibitions and writing new books. His other continuing hobby is fishing.

Book Extract "I would like to suggest, rather tentatively, at the outset of this literary enterprise that it is my intension here to embark on a quest in search of meaning and of the ultimate truth behind things, behind all things. That is why I have titled this work from insanity to ecstasy, because I think that by looking into my life and my mental illness I shall be able to see more clearly into the real. I shall hopefully through articulating my deepest concern onto the printed page be able to better understand what it is that drives me on; what it is that I really want and where it is that I want to go.

Book Listening to Ecstasy

Download or read book Listening to Ecstasy written by Charles Wininger and published by Park Street Press. This book was released on 2020-11-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A personal narrative and guide to the safe, responsible use of MDMA for personal healing and social transformation • Details the author’s 50 years of responsible experimentation with mind-altering substances and how Ecstasy has helped him become a better therapist • Explains how he and his wife found Ecstasy to be the key to renewing and enriching their lives and marriage as they entered their senior years • Describes what the experience actually feels like and provides protocols for the safe, responsible, recreational, and celebrational use of MDMA for individuals and groups In a world that keeps us separate from each other, MDMA is the chemical of connection. Aptly known in popular culture as “Ecstasy,” MDMA helps us rediscover our own true loving nature, often obscured by the traumas of life. On its way to becoming a prescription medication due to groundbreaking research on its use to treat PTSD, Ecstasy can offer benefits for all adult life stages, from 20-somethings to seniors. In this memoir and guide to safe use, Charles Wininger, a licensed psychoanalyst and mental health counselor, details the countless ways that Ecstasy has helped him become a better therapist and husband. He recounts his coming of age in the 1960s counterculture, his 50 years of responsible experimentation with mind-altering substances, and his immersion in the new psychedelic renaissance. He explains how he and his wife found Ecstasy to be the key to renewing and enriching their lives as they entered their senior years. It also strengthened the bonds of their marriage. Countering the fearful propaganda that surrounds this drug, Wininger describes what the experience actually feels like and explores the value of Ecstasy and similar substances for helping psychologically healthy individuals live a more “optimal” life. He provides protocols for the responsible, recreational, and celebrational use of MDMA, including how to perfect the experience, maximize the benefits and minimize the risks, and how it may not be for everyone. He reveals how MDMA has revitalized his marriage, both erotically and emotionally, and describes how pleasure, fun, and joy can be profound bonding and transformative experiences. Revealing MDMA’s versatility when it comes to bringing lasting renewal, pleasure, and inspiration to one’s life, Wininger shows that recognizing the transformative power of happiness-inducing experiences can be the first step on the path to healing.

Book A Treatise on Insanity and Other Disorders Affecting the Mind

Download or read book A Treatise on Insanity and Other Disorders Affecting the Mind written by James Cowles Prichard and published by . This book was released on 1835 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writers on the disorders of the mind have frequently remarked that it is difficult to furnish a definition of insanity, which may enable us at once to recognize it when it exists, and to distinguish it from all other conditions whether of health or of disease. Although many excellent treatises exist on various matters connected with mental derangement in the English, French, and German languages, there is yet not one work extant in either of them which exhibits the present state of knowledge and opinion on the whole subject of diseases affecting the mind. This text allows me to state in a more convincing manner my opinions on some important questions connected with the nature of insanity, with respect to which I believe the notions generally prevalent, and sanctioned by the highest medical and legal authorities in this country, to be not only erroneous, but the sources of great practical evils. Book After the Ecstasy the Laundry

Download or read book After the Ecstasy the Laundry written by Jack Kornfield and published by Bantam. This book was released on 2001-10-02 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Enlightenment does exist,” internationally renowned author and meditation master Jack Kornfield assures us. “Unbounded freedom and joy, oneness with the divine . . . these experiences are more common than you know, and not far away.” But even after achieving such realization—after the ecstasy—we are faced with the day—to-day task of translating that freedom into our imperfect lives. We are faced with the laundry. Drawing on the experiences and insights of leaders and practitioners within the Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, and Sufi traditions, this book offers a uniquely intimate and honest understanding of how the modern spiritual journey unfolds—and how we can prepare our hearts for awakening. Through moving personal stories and traditional tales, we learn how the enlightened heart navigates the real world of family relationships, emotional pain, earning a living, sickness, loss, and death. Filled with “the laughter of the wise,” alive with compassion, After the Ecstasy, the Laundry is a gift to anyone who is seeking peace, wholeness, and inner happiness. It is sure to take its place next to A Path with Heart as a spiritual classic for our time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ecstasy, or extasis, is the Greek term for trance, and is linked with a pleasurable, God-given state of out-of-body experience recorded throughout the New Testament and the church age. Starting with the apostles ecstatic experiences on Pentecost, the Book of Acts further records trances in the lives of Peter and Paul. From the early church to the Christian mystics of the Middle Ages and the famous revivalists of centuries present, God s movements on the earth have always been marked by these supernatural experiences. In this book, John Crowder takes us on a journey from Old Testament ecstatic prophets such as Samuel and Elijah, to the future ecstatics who will usher in a massive wave of harvest Glory to the streets in these last days. God has always wanted a people who live in the Heavens, even as they walk on the Earth. And the world is hungry for the demonstration of a gospel of supernatural power that flows from a life of divine pleasure. More than a state of mind, you will see how the nature of God s ecstasy is found in the joy, bliss and inner raptures of His presence. In this book, you will be encouraged to drink from the river of His pleasure! (Ps. 36:8)

Book A Tri Dimensional Model of Mental Health

Download or read book A Tri Dimensional Model of Mental Health written by Stephen J. Costello and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2022-09-06 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work is an ambitious, original, and searching study as to what constitutes and comprises ‘mental health’. It advances the proposition that existential or holistic health depends on integral wholeness, the synthesis of body, mind, and heart. As such, a tri-dimensional model is proposed based on the triadic self, rooted in philosophical perspectives on the subject, arguing throughout that the human person is a unity-in-diversity, that one is always whole and well in one’s Self (essence), which must be distinguished from the ego (personality). The importance and relevance of the Enneagram as a foundational system for understanding human personality is referenced throughout. The various strands and thought-threads in the book coalesce around the central doctrine of nonduality exemplified by mystical Christianity and the philosophia perennis.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work is not only a general inquiry into ecstatic states of consciousness and an historical outline of the ecstatic poetic tradition but also an intensive study of five representative poets--Rumi, Wordsworth, Whitman, Dickinson, and Tagore. In a refreshingly original, wide-ranging engagement with concepts in psychology, religion, philosophy, aesthetics, sociology and history, this book demonstrates that the poetics and aesthetics of ecstasy represent an ancient, ubiquitous theory of poetry that continues to influence writers in the current century.
