Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book Summary Taylor-Boyce has written a stellar work that is guaranteed to free the mentally imprisoned and bring peace to all. The book begins by asking the question, who are you? Comfort of the body has always been our first priority. In this book, ease of the mind is the focus which gives comfort of the body. Comfort of the mind brings the following rewards: Substantial improvement Growing aptitude for exuberance Inability to worry or fear Gaining of appreciation Freedom from dullness In this book you will discover answers to those thought-provoking questions. Why Are You Here? The book begins by asking the question, who are you? This question is one that everyone needs to ask themselves. When I ask, who are you? I am not referring to what you are called. I am not referring to your birth name, nationality, country of origin, profession, or the fact that you are a parent. I am asking about that person inside you. While this may seem like a simple question, many people struggle with a response. This question is difficult because we tend to identify with our chosen profession. Very few of us take time out to ponder this age-old question. Nonetheless, if we are to succeed in life, obtain joy, happiness, and peace of mind, we must know the answer to the question, who are you? This Question Is Difficult Knowing the answer to who you are conjures up another question: why are you here? We live on this vast planet called Earth with global communications and instant messaging, yet we are challenged by this question. This question is more difficult to answer and as such may pose some difficulty in our fully grasping the understanding of why we are here. Achieving Simplicity It is the writers desire to bring simplicity to these questions. This book, while attempting to convey clarity of ones purpose, will help in guiding those seeking answers to these questions. The goal or aim is through the answering of these questions to take a survey of our present position with an honest view. This is a more difficult thing to accomplish than we can imagine. However, after examining our present position, we would be able to identify the results of our thinking and realize the destruction of our thoughts. We will be able to guard our mind from ever slipping back.

This book was released on 2013-05-18 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prevention is the key to effective policies in Africa, whether the issue is equitable resource exploitation, ethnic conflict, infectious diseases, or famine. African Regional Economic Communities (RECs) have moved beyond their initial purpose of a loose confederation of trading partners to become increasingly effective supranational bodies promoting financial, political, and security stabilization in each of their regions. Looking at each of the RECs, their power centers, and areas of weakness, policymakers can gain a more comprehensive understanding of the sometimes symbiotic and often destructive dynamics within and among African states to seek more effective strategic and regional, not national, approaches. This monograph suggests USAFRICOM is uniquely positioned to help design a path to spearhead a pan-African strategy highly likely to have the net long-term effect of attaining considerable competitive advantage for the U.S. economically, militarily, and politically...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Inter-organizational Competition: Does the Leader Cause Cohesion or Chaos?, author Dr. Joyce L. Suber capitalizes on the elements of competition and leadership. With stark realism, Suber shares a vast amount of information on these two elements by bringing to life the truth about the nature of leadership and competition within an organization. Dr. Suber is convinced that intra-organizational competition is negative and has an increased potential to impede team performance and relationships. Business-oriented relationships are extremely important to create sustainable organizations. Past research has suggested intra-organizational competition may be debilitating on teamwork within an organization. In light of this, Dr. Suber examines if a particular leadership style encourages the growth of non-productive, negative competition within intra-organizational environments. Additionally, this book explores whether leaders need to be mindful of the fact their particular leadership style. The focus of the research model is elite leaders and their direct reports from varied industries. Suber's findings challenges leadership theorists to re-examine how other conduits influence leadership style (i.e., communication style) and the consequences of style (i.e., organizational culture) against the effects of intra-organizational competition.

Book excerpt: "This book fills a gap in the body of publications and literature covering large-scale combat operations. To date, most writing has focused on the victors. But every battle has two sides. For every victor, there is a vanquished. Armies in Retreat explores retreating armies-those that maintained cohesion and later succeeded and others that devolved into chaos. The armies analyzed retreated with impacts at the tactical, operational, and strategic level. Cultural memory and national heritages are impacted by a retreat. Ultimately, this book is about surviving defeat. It is designed to inform leaders about what to expect when the unexpected happens, to prevent the shock and mitigate some of the terror on every side so they can respond with resilience and cohesion. Retreat, while unpalatable, can ultimately lead to military or national survival, even victory"--

Book excerpt: Young people develop anorexia because they are unhappy. In the process of becoming anorexic they silence themselves and distance themselves from parental support. Family therapy can help patients by improving their communication with their parents. Therapists can support parents in helping their children to find their voices. This book presents a review of the research evidence that has guided the development of family therapy for young people with anorexia. In addition, it presents the current evidence for a family model. A flexible model is proposed to meet different family scenarios and levels of treatment resistance. Greg Dring argues that the evidence indicates the need for an assertive approach to therapy, drawing on the full range of family therapy skills available, in order to re-instate a healthy relationship between parents and children. This book is intended for family therapists and other clinicians in Child and Mental Health Services who work with young people with anorexia.

Book International Arbitration When East Meets West

Download or read book International Arbitration When East Meets West written by Neil Kaplan and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2020-10-09 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Asia, China, in particular, gains economic momentum and increasingly attracts global attention, disputes between Asian and Western parties will inevitably increase. This book, the first to address issues arising from these types of disputes in depth, collects incisive articles by both well-known Asian arbitrators and non-Asian practitioners with extensive experience dealing with arbitrations involving Asian parties, all under the aegis of Michael Moser, a Western-trained lawyer who had the foresight to build a China-focused dispute resolution practice at a time when it was not fashionable to do so. The articles reflect Moser’s exemplary career as an independent arbitrator who has navigated between Asian and Western legal cultures seamlessly for decades. The upshot is an authoritative investigation of the differences and similarities of international arbitration between two contrasting cultures–both from a legal and social perspective– as well as a consideration of how each culture has influenced international arbitration practice overall. Issues covered include the following: interim measures in support of arbitration; the hybrid arbitration-mediation mode of dispute resolution; what China’s investment treaties have to offer; Moser’s ‘Triple A’ approach to mediation; witness conferencing; influence of of rang (¿), or exercise of altruism; Chinese courts’ approach to international arbitration; evolution of investment protection between China and Europe; disclosure versus state secrecy laws in China; and the standard for disclosure in rules of evidence. Given the increasing prevalence of arbitrations seated in Asia and the number of new players engaged in arbitration in Asia, this book is certain to attract a wide range of arbitration practitioners, especially those engaged in arbitrations involving Asian parties. As a comparative study of Asian and Western arbitration theory and practice, it is peerless. Scholars of arbitration worldwide are sure to learn from the insights detailed here of practitioners with consummate experience in arbitrations involving cross-cultural parties. “This is an excellent and wide ranging publication that rightly pays tribute to Michael’s career as a multi-faceted doyen of international arbitration; he has had his base in Asia but at all times he has held a global and even minded view. Many of us – and the overall institution of international arbitration - owe so very much to him.” Matthew Gearing, QC, former Chair of HKIAC “This wide-ranging and insightful volume pays tribute to the distinguished career of Michael Moser, a true Renaissance figure who has traversed both East and West and helped so many others bridge the two.” Gary Born, WilmerHale
