Download or read book From a GED to a Juris Doctor Degree written by Jerrell Cleveland, Jr. and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-01-10 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The true purpose of this book is to share with you my experiences on my way to success. That means sharing the good, bad and the ugly, not just sharing the things I am most comfortable with discussing. I truly believe that exploring and discussing my mistakes, poor choices, and lack of planning as it relates to life's circumstances and how we can bounce back from all of life's obstacle and roadblocks. Ultimately, we have to own up to the mistakes of our past in order to put them behind us and move on. Most of all, in the book we will discuss the importance of properly planning for success and some possible strategies of getting there. Some may wonder why I tell so much about my life in this book, but my book does not even compare to the content of the Bible. The real question is what would it be like for all of us if the characters in the Bible had not or refused to share their mistakes or even the good for that matter? The answer is, we would simply be lost with no guidance on how we should and should not live our lives. I think we all have a duty to testify, to share the good and the bad about our lives as we embark on our journey to success. Let's not fool people into believing that we came straight from the womb and into success, without any challenges along the way. You just may spare someone of one less headache on his or her path to success. I hope you enjoy my book and I wish all of you God speed on your journey!
Download or read book Theory and Practice of Adult and Higher Education written by Victor C.X. Wang and published by IAP. This book was released on 2016-10-01 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A volume on Theory and Practice of Adult and Higher Education or Foundations of Adult and Higher Education will appeal to both our graduate students and faculty as so many of them have been taking courses in both program areas and have been concerned with their defined areas of expertise. Although theories and practices in Adult Education, and in Higher Education are being used interchangeably, there is a lack of scholarly work that connects existing theories and practices across the two fields. The proposed ground?breaking volume will cover topics/theories/practices in both fields of Adult Education and of Higher Education, and in doing so will bring to the fore the connections that make these two fields truly inseparable. The proposed volume will therefore generate new knowledge to share among faculty, graduate students and other researchers who practice not only in Adult Education, but also in Higher Education.

This book was released on 2010-02-15 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each year, 700,000 students from around the world come to the United States and Canada to study. For many, the experience is as challenging as it is exciting. Far from home, they must adapt to a new culture, new university system, and in many cases, a new language. The process can be overwhelming, but as Charles Lipson’s Succeeding as an International Student in the United States and Canada assures us, it doesn’t have to be. Succeeding is designed to help students navigate the myriad issues they will encounter—from picking a program to landing a campus job. Based on Lipson’s work with international students as well as extensive interviews with faculty and advisers, Succeeding includes practical suggestions for learning English, participating in class, and meeting with instructors. In addition it explains the rules of academic honesty as they are understood in U.S. and Canadian universities. Life beyond the classroom is also covered, with handy sections on living on or off campus, obtaining a driver’s license, setting up a bank account, and more. The comprehensive glossary addresses both academic terms and phrases heard while shopping or visiting a doctor. There is even a chapter on the academic calendar and holidays in the United States and Canada. Coming to a new country to study should be an exciting venture, not a baffling ordeal. Now, with this trustworthy resource, international students have all the practical information they need to succeed, in and out of the classroom.

Download or read book African Americans by the Numbers written by Glenn L. Starks and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2017-07-14 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides an invaluable source for students as well as academics on the current condition of African Americans, highlighting disparities throughout an array of social, economic, and political areas. African Americans comprise approximately 12 percent of the population of the United States—a sizable proportion. Yet African Americans are incarcerated at rates disproportionate to their overall population in the United States. By examining a wide range of socioeconomic topics and supplying necessary background and contextual information, this book offers a multidimensional view of African American life that covers such critical areas as education, health, immigration and migration, employment, and the economy. This statistical guide presents extensive demographics on African Americans, breaks down the hard numbers, explains what the statistics indicate about the socioeconomic condition of African American life, and places this information into historical and contemporary context. This book also provides detailed comparisons of African Americans to other races and ethnic groups. Readers will be challenged to interpret the numbers and draw logical conclusions from them; as a result, this reference serves to help students build critical thinking skills that are essential to success in the classroom and beyond.
