Book Freemasonic Enlightenment in the Context of the Modern and Perfecting Rite of Symbolic Masonry

Download or read book Freemasonic Enlightenment in the Context of the Modern and Perfecting Rite of Symbolic Masonry written by Nicolas Laos and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2023-01-10 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book details a philosophical approach to Freemasonry and a Freemasonic approach to philosophy. It provides a system of esoteric work, interdisciplinary education, philosophical reflection, and social and political thought, and a method of understanding the reality of the world and the reality of consciousness. The actual state of Freemasonry is overtaken by inherent old conceptions, but this book looks to take Freemasonry from where it is to where it has never been. Thus, it exposes the Ritual of the “Modern and Perfecting Rite of Symbolic Masonry,” composed by the author, and it explains the ethos, the structure, and the substantive content of the Autonomous Order of the Modern and Perfecting Rite of Symbolic Masonry, of which the author is the Founder and Grand Master. The book expresses a keen longing for unifying, all-embracing knowledge and for instituting a Freemasonic system that creates, unites, and supports polymaths for the sake of knowledge and a better world order. As such, it presents a creative synthesis between Western esotericism, philosophy, psychoanalysis, sociology, political theory, political economy, mathematics, physics, and biology.

Book Speculative Freemasonry and the Enlightenment

Download or read book Speculative Freemasonry and the Enlightenment written by R. William Weisberger and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2017-09-08 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Freemasonry began with stonemasons in the Middle Ages experiencing the decline of cathedral building. Some guilds invited honorary memberships to boost their numbers. These usually highly educated new members practiced symbolic or “speculative Freemasonry.” The new Masonic lodges and learned societies offered their growing numbers of Protestant, Catholic and Jewish members an understanding of deism, Newtonian science and representative government, and of literature and the fine arts. This work describes how Masons on both sides of the Atlantic were mostly either enlighteners, political reformers or moderate revolutionaries. They offered minimal support to radical revolutionary ideas and leaders.

Book Ancient Mysteries And Modern Masonry Annotated Edition

Download or read book Ancient Mysteries And Modern Masonry Annotated Edition written by Charles H. Vail and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on 2013-10-24 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of these lectures is to consider the origin and nature of the Ancient Mysteries and Modern Masonry and to show the relation which they bear one to the other. Freemasonry deals largely with the morals and symbols of the Mysteries of Antiquity, and originally was one of the channels of Ancient Wisdom. There were a few among the founders of Modern Masonry who possessed the Royal Secret, or, at least, had a knowledge of its existence, and, if the key has been lost, the Mason, as Heir-apparent of the Old Wisdom, should be foremost in the search for its recovery. All agree that the Masonic symbols and traditions are of the greatest antiquity, and can be traced to the far East--to the earliest civilization, from which time and place they have spoken in nature's language to all peoples of the earth. We are more and more convinced that this picture language of our ritual contains a most complete philosophy--a knowledge embracing the eternal verities of the universe, and that these symbols were designed by the Initiates of old to preserve and convey that Ancient Wisdom to the present and future generations. Though empires and dynastic continents have appeared and passed away, these ancient symbols, hewn in rock-cut temples and monuments, have served to convey the Great Secret from ages past and will continue its record as long as this part of the universe remains.

Book The Secret History of Freemasonry

Download or read book The Secret History of Freemasonry written by Paul Naudon and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2005-03-28 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores the hidden history of Freemasonry from ancient Rome, through the Middle Ages, to the present • Shows the close connection between medieval masons and the Knights Templar • Illustrates the sacred nature of Roman and medieval trade associations • Reveals the missing link that connects the lodges of modern Freemasonry to the medieval brotherhoods of builders Historians often make a sharp distinction between the operative Masonry of the Middle Ages and the speculative Masonry of modern times, emphasizing that there is no direct bridge connecting the two. Modern historians also have scoffed at Masonic claims concerning the close relationship between the Lodge and the Temple. Using medieval archives housed throughout Europe, historian Paul Naudon reveals that there was in fact a very intimate connection between the Masons and the Knights Templar. Church records of medieval Paris show that most, if not all, the Masons of that time were residents of the Templar censive, which allowed them to enjoy great exemptions and liberties from both church and state as a result of the protection afforded them by this powerful order. Naudon shows that the origins of Freemasonry can be traced back to the collegia of ancient Rome. He traces the evolution of organizations such as the Comacine Masters, the Arab turuqs, and the brotherhoods of builders created under the aegis of the Benedictines and the Knights Templar, all of which provide the vehicle for the transmission of a sacred tradition from pre-Christian times to the modern era. This tradition is the source of Masonic ritual and symbolism, and it provides the missing link in the transformation of the operative Masonry of the medieval cathedral builders to the spiritual principles of modern speculative Masonry.

Download or read book Freemasonry s Secrets written by John White and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-06-10 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most important aspect of Freemasonry is the "open secret" or plainly recognized truth that there will never be a better world until there are better people in it. Although Freemasonry has a huge fund of esoteric knowledge about higher human development, it can be boiled down to a single statement: "Masonry makes good men better." That statement should always be amplified by at least this much: "Not better than others, but better than themselves-through self-improvement." More broadly, our fraternity makes good men better through self-directed growth in body, mind and spirit, influenced and inspired by Masonic teachings and guidelines. Freemasonry has to do with freeing people from ego-centered consciousness. It does so by emphasizing character development, value realization, abiding faith in God and the highest sort of patriotism. In Freemasonry, we ourselves are the rough stone which is to be hewn and polished into an ashlar fit for building the Temple of God. So the possibility of making good men better is one which extends from ordinary, everyday matters to the farthest range of human nature, traditionally called God-realization, spiritual freedom, liberation, unity consciousness, cosmic consciousness, nondual consciousness and, most commonly, enlightenment.
