Book Bending Vibrations and Buckling of Laminated Anisotropic Rectangular Plates

Download or read book Bending Vibrations and Buckling of Laminated Anisotropic Rectangular Plates written by James M. Whitney and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solutions are obtained for the bending, vibrations, and buckling of two special cases of laminated anisotropic rectangular plates displying bending-extendional coupling. Three sets of boundary conditions for simply-supported plates are considered. Plates clamped along two opposite sides and simply-supported along the two adjacent sides are also treated. Bending deflections, fundamental vibration frequencies, and buckling loads for certain orientations of angle-ply fiber reinforced composites are shown to be significantly affected by different clamped boundary conditions. Numerical results also show the effects of bending-entensional coupling can be severe for all the boundary conditions considered. (Author-PL).

Book Micromanufacturing and Nanotechnology

Download or read book Micromanufacturing and Nanotechnology written by Nitaigour P. Mahalik and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-16 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Micromanufacturing and Nanotechnology is an emerging technological infrastructure and process that involves manufacturing of products and systems at the micro and nano scale levels. Development of micro and nano scale products and systems are underway due to the reason that they are faster, accurate and less expensive. Moreover, the basic functional units of such systems possesses remarkable mechanical, electronic and chemical properties compared to the macro-scale counterparts. Since this infrastructure has already become the prefered choice for the design and development of next generation products and systems it is now necessary to disseminate the conceptual and practical phenomenological know-how in a broader context. This book incorporates a selection of research and development papers. Its scope is the history and background, underlynig design methodology, application domains and recent developments.

Book Theory Determination and Control of Physical Properties of Food Materials

Download or read book Theory Determination and Control of Physical Properties of Food Materials written by Cho-Kyun Rha and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the importance of material science, or the understanding of the physical properties of food materials in the progress of food engineering, has become more recognized. Increasing numbers of basic and applied studies in this area appear in numerous journals and literature scattered around various disciplines. This 'Series in Food Material Science' is planned to survey, collect, organize, review and evaluate these studies. By doing so, it is hoped that this series will be instrumental in bringing about a better understanding of the physical properties of food materials, better communication among scientists, and rapid progress in food engineering, science and technology. This volume, Theory, Determination and Control of Physical Properties of Food Materia/s, Volume I of the 'Series in Food Material Science', contains basic principles, methods and instrumental methods for determination and application of the modifi cation of physical properties. In this book, noted investigators in the subjects have pooled their knowledge and made it available in a condensed form. Every chapter is selfcontained with most of them starting with a review or introduction, including the viewpoint of the author. These should offer a beginner a very general introduction to the subjects covered, make the scientists and technologists in the field aware of current progress and allow the specialists a chance to compare different viewpoints.

Book Heat Effects of Welding

Download or read book Heat Effects of Welding written by Dieter Radaj and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Almost all welding technology depends upon the use of concentrated energy sources to fuse or soften the material locally at the joint, before such energy can be diffused or dispersed elsewhere. Although comprehensive treatments of transient heat flow as a controlling influence have been developed progressively and published over the past forty years, the task of uniting the results compactly within a textbook has become increasingly formidable. With the comparative scarcity of such works, welding engineers have been denied the full use of powerful design analysis tools. During the past decade Dr Radaj has prepared to fulfil this need, working from a rich experience as pioneer researcher and teacher, co-operator with Professor Argyris at Stuttgart University in developing the finite element method for stress analysis of aircraft and power plant structures, and more recently as expert consultant on these and automotive structures at Daimler Benz. His book appeared in 1988 in the German language, and this updated English language edition will significantly increase the availability of the work.
