Download or read book Effect of Constitutive Properties of Earth Media on Outrunning Ground Shock from Large Explosions written by Paul F. Hadala and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Outrunning ground shock data from the 100- to 10-psi overpressure decade in six large surface high explosive (HE) tests, three from a rock site and three from a glaciated soil site, were analyzed for the effect of gross changes in constitutive properties. Axisymmetric wave propagation code calculations in layered linear and nonlinear (incrementally elastic-plastic) media were performed to determine the effects of introducing nonlinearity, selected material property variations, and the relative importance of airblast and direct induced effects from surface explosions in the overpressure decade of interest.

This book was released on 2009-02-04 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In September 2006, research leaders in the field of coastal engineering, fluid mechanics, and wave theory met at Cornell University to celebrate the 60th birthday of Prof. Philip L-F Liu. This volume is a compilation of the research papers presented at the symposium, and includes both review and new research papers. Topics such as nonlinear wave theory, tsunamis, wave-structure interaction, turbulence, and modeling of complex sediment transport are discussed in this volume. All of the contributing authors are research collaborators of Prof. Liu, and include leaders in coastal engineering such as Maarten Dingemans, Hwung-Hweng Hwung, Nobu Kobayashi, Inigo Losada, Hocine Oumeraci, Costas Synolakis, and Harry Yeh.

Download or read book Twenty Third Symposium on Naval Hydrodynamics written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2002-01-01 with total page 1024 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Vive la Revolution!" was the theme of the Twenty-Third Symposium on Naval Hydrodynamics held in Val de Reuil, France, from September 17-22, 2000 as more than 140 experts in ship design, construction, and operation came together to exchange naval research developments. The forum encouraged both formal and informal discussion of presented papers, and the occasion provides an opportunity for direct communication between international peers. This book includes sixty-three papers presented at the symposium which was organized jointly by the Office of Naval Research, the National Research Council (Naval Studies Board), and the Bassin d'Essais des Carènes. This book includes the ten topical areas discussed at the symposium: wave-induced motions and loads, hydrodynamics in ship design, propulsor hydrodynamics and hydroacoustics, CFD validation, viscous ship hydrodynamics, cavitation and bubbly flow, wave hydrodynamics, wake dynamics, shallow water hydrodynamics, and fluid dynamics in the naval context.
Download or read book Summary of Soil structure Interaction written by Jay R. Allgood and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report summarizes currently available knowledge of soil-structure interaction as it pertains to facilities that provide protection from nuclear weapons effects. The major subdivisions of the subject are discussed in sufficient detail to convey a general understanding of the subject and to provide key references. The recommended design methodology is illustrated for the horizontally oriented buried cylinder. A parallel approach is suggested for buried structures of other configurations. It is suggested that analysis of resulting designs be accomplished by the finite element method. Illustrations of two-dimensional and three-dimensional solutions by this method are given. (Author).
