Book Frauen Konnen Mehr

Download or read book Frauen Konnen Mehr written by Irene Fiedler and published by African Books Collective. This book was released on 2023-01-09 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While the author was still a student at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda (1968/69), she realized how important women are, in the society and in the church. After Makerere, she worked for seven years in the Kania la Biblia in Southern Tanzania. While living in Matemanga, she established the church's Women's Ministry, which she continued to lead from Songea and Mbinga. In this book she looks back on her life, work and thinking in those years, based on her diaries and correspondence. This she augments by information on related developments over the last 50 years, which show what women can achieve. Irene Fiedler (*1942), after training as a domestic worker, as a kindergarten teacher and then as a primary school teacher, studied at Makerere University in Kampala and after that worked for seven years as a missionary of the Kanisa la Biblia in South Tanzania. Returning to Germany in 1976, she trained as a child and adolescent psychotherapist and received her PhD in Education from Dortmund University in 1984. She worked as a psychotherapist in private practice and as an instructor in psychotherapy. Mother of three children, two of them born in Tanzania. Editor of the Old Testament section of the Swahili Bible Concordance (Itifaki ya Biblia) published in 1990 in Dodoma (Central Tanganyika Press) and in Nairobi (Uzima Press).

Book Biblical Women in Patristic Reception Biblische Frauen in patristischer Rezeption

Download or read book Biblical Women in Patristic Reception Biblische Frauen in patristischer Rezeption written by Agnethe Siquans and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2017-09-11 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: The landmark, prize-winning, international bestselling examination of how a gender gap in data perpetuates bias and disadvantages women. #1 International Bestseller * Winner of the Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award * Winner of the Royal Society Science Book Prize Data is fundamental to the modern world. From economic development to health care to education and public policy, we rely on numbers to allocate resources and make crucial decisions. But because so much data fails to take into account gender, because it treats men as the default and women as atypical, bias and discrimination are baked into our systems. And women pay tremendous costs for this insidious bias: in time, in money, and often with their lives. Celebrated feminist advocate Caroline Criado Perez investigates this shocking root cause of gender inequality in Invisible Women. Examining the home, the workplace, the public square, the doctor’s office, and more, Criado Perez unearths a dangerous pattern in data and its consequences on women’s lives. Product designers use a “one-size-fits-all” approach to everything from pianos to cell phones to voice recognition software, when in fact this approach is designed to fit men. Cities prioritize men’s needs when designing public transportation, roads, and even snow removal, neglecting to consider women’s safety or unique responsibilities and travel patterns. And in medical research, women have largely been excluded from studies and textbooks, leaving them chronically misunderstood, mistreated, and misdiagnosed. Built on hundreds of studies in the United States, in the United Kingdom, and around the world, and written with energy, wit, and sparkling intelligence, this is a groundbreaking, highly readable exposé that will change the way you look at the world.

Book excerpt: A single potato chip on a matchbox, larger-than-life figurative sculptures polished to a gleam: Thomas Schütte's category-defying oeuvre gives form to the incongruences of the world we inhabit The Düsseldorf-based sculptor, draftsman, model maker and sometime architect Thomas Schütte works in scales ranging from small to monumental. Rooted in minimal and conceptual art, his work addresses history, art history, modes of meaning and how art can function in the world. Published in conjunction with the first museum retrospective of Schütte's work in the United States in over 20 years, this eponymous monograph presents a holistic overview of his career from 1975 to the present. Taking aesthetics, form and history as its focus, the publication features over 100 sculptures, drawings, prints and experiments in architecture, alongside revelatory archival materials. Curator Paulina Pobocha has worked in close collaboration with Schütte since 2015, and has had complete access to his archives, as well as the myriad drawings and notebooks still in his possession. Excerpts from these papers are published for the first time in this catalog. Additionally, essays by Pobocha, Jennifer Allen and André Rottmann provide historical and theoretical pathways into the complexity of Schütte's oeuvre, and contributions by artists Marlene Dumas and Charles Ray reflect on Schütte's significance through close readings of his work. Thomas Schütte (born 1954) studied under Gerhard Richter and Fritz Schwegler at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. He has participated in Documenta, Skulptur Projekte Münster and the Venice Biennale, where he was awarded the Golden Lion in 2005. His work can be found in the collections of major institutions across Europe and North America.
