Book excerpt: The economic framework presented in this report is the first step toward a more co-ordinated and better integrated approach to improve economic conditions in the Northwest Territories. The framework will provide stakeholders with a basis for making wise economic decisions, lead stakeholders in developing economic development activities, and provide a basis for evaluating those activities. The report explains how stakeholders can use the framework to set priorities, identify opportunities, and develop action plans to meet the challenges being faced. It also discusses the need to monitor results of activities and the impact on economic circumstances by measuring the results and successes. The report also summarizes the economic situation within each of 13 sectors and discusses what is needed to stimulate growth and development to achieve viability in each.
