Book Business Education in the Secondary School

Download or read book Business Education in the Secondary School written by Eve Gillmon and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: City Technology Colleges (CTC) in England are founded on the concept of business education and industry partnerships ensuring the integration of work and education. Secondary school business education is concerned with how business organizations function, technological problem solving, and applied skills. Business education occupies a position of low esteem in the curriculum hierarchy. Business is a defined context within Design and Technology in the National Curriculum, but opportunities for delivering business education exist on all levels. Work experience is the most common school-industry activity, but many activities enhance business education. Business-related activities need management, coordination, and resources to be a successful part of business education. A core program of business education within a broad curriculum framework is necessary for high school students. If a strong school-business relationship exists, students will be prepared for a lifetime of learning. A whole-school policy on business education is needed with implementation responsibility vested in senior management. (This document contains 4 tables, 25 references, and 4 appendices: programs of study relating to business education; key stage 3 of business education at Dixons Bradford CTC; key stage 3 of business education at Thomas Telford School; and planning business education.) Book Business an Integrative Framework

Download or read book Business an Integrative Framework written by Fred Fry and published by Irwin/McGraw-Hill. This book was released on 2000-12-01 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “This text is far superior to others.”--Bob Muir, Coastal Carolina Community College “The primary reason I chose to use the Fry book was the fact it is organized quite differently than the other Intro books I had seen. . . . I think the authors have done an excellent job of developing an integrated text.” –Kitty Campbell, Southeastern Oklahoma State University Highly-lauded in its first edition, Fry’s Introduction to Business: An Integrated Framework builds on its tremendous success with the forthcoming second edition. His text is specially designed for an emerging portion of the Introduction to Business teaching community who prefer to take an integrated approach to the material. Rather than approach the material from a traditional or functional standpoint, such as presenting marketing, management, and finance as separate entities or chapters, this text presents them as an integrated whole. The framework captures how businesses really work in today’s world, and brings functions and processes together.

Book Business Economics and Enterprise

Download or read book Business Economics and Enterprise written by Jacek Brant and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2005-11-23 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has been written for teachers of business education and economics in the years of their early professional development, including those on PGCE courses, those in their induction year, and those in years two and three of their teaching career. The book will also be suitable for subject leaders with mentor responsibilities and Advanced Skills teachers undertaking specialist inset and teaching support. The book covers the training standards for NQTs and the Induction Standards. But it goes beyond this by fully exploring issues to do with subject knowledge in learning to teach, broadly accepting that an essential element of a secondary teacher’s identity is tied up with the subject taught. The book is divided into three sections: framing the subject – which defines subject knowledge and raises questions about business education and economics as school subjects teaching the subject – which looks at pedagogical, curricular and pupil knowledge business, economics and enterprise within the professional community – which focuses on the place of business education and economics within the wider curriculum and the teaching community. This book aims to provide stimulating assistance to subject specialists by helping them find ways of thinking about their specialism, how to teach with it and how to engage with what pupils learn through it.

Book Towards an Entrepreneurial Culture for the Twenty first Century

Download or read book Towards an Entrepreneurial Culture for the Twenty first Century written by International Labour Office and published by UNESCO. This book was released on 2006 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In line with the World Declaration on Education for All and the Millennium Goal of halving poverty in the world by the year 2015, education is expected to serve not only the acquisition of academic knowledge but also the preparation of young people for life and work. Secondary education has to meet the challenge of providing skills for successfully dealing with economies and work patterns in transition and changing cultural values. Education that makes young people entrepreneurial in a broad sense would be part of this solution. This volume draws on various experiences in entrepreneurial education around the world. It aims to provoke discussion on such questions as: How can we harness the imagination and entrepreneurial talents of secondary students as assets for development? How should these talents be channelled? What are the contents, subjects, topics that support the entrepreneurial process? What is the best institutional framework for entrepreneurship education? What kind of teacher is needed? How do we systematically measure the performance of entrepreneurship education and training?
