Book Nuclei and Mesoscopic Physics

Download or read book Nuclei and Mesoscopic Physics written by Vladimir Zelevinsky and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2005-07-22 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of the Workshop was to open the way for exchange of ideas between physicists working in different areas of quantum physics but studying the objects of mesoscopic nature which reveal important generic features and allow for similar approaches. Among these objects are complex nuclei, atoms and molecules, nanoscale condensed matter systems, atomic clusters, atoms in traps, prototypes of quantum computers etc. The Workshop WNMP-2004 was organized with the idea of bringing together researchers actively working on the multitude of mesoscopic problems in various areas and, through cross-fertilizing discussions, make an attempt to bridge the existing gaps, find a common language and clean the way for future collaborations. The topics of common interest included general features of mesoscopic systems; experimental, theoretical and computational methods used for their studies; coherent phenomena, such as superfluidity and superconductivity; many-body quantum chaos; marginally stable and open systems; phase transitions and thermodynamic properties (an exciting subject with contradictory opinions reflected in the Proceedings).

Book Nuclei and Mesoscopic Physics

Download or read book Nuclei and Mesoscopic Physics written by Pawel Danielewicz and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2008-04-17 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mesoscopic physics unifies physical systems “in between” microworld and macroworld. Such systems are sufficiently large to reveal certain statistical regularities, but they are sufficiently small to allow physicists to study, both theoretically and experimentally, individual quantum states. The conference covers common and specific features of those systems (nuclei, complex atoms and molecules, atomic traps, sold state micro- and nano-devices, prototypes of future quantum computers). This young field is rapidly developing opening new ideas and technological breakthroughs.

Book The 4th International Conference On Proton Emitting Nuclei And Related Topics

Download or read book The 4th International Conference On Proton Emitting Nuclei And Related Topics written by Bertram Blank and published by American Inst. of Physics. This book was released on 2012-01-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The conference covered a large spectrum of nuclear structure of proton rich nuclei, their production, selection and their decay. The range of subjects went from beta decay of nuclei closer to stability for the study of fundamental interactions, over studies of interest for nuclear astrophysics to the study of the most exotic proton-rich nuclei at the limits of nuclear stability. Beyond experimental and theoretical results on proton-rich nuclei, technical development for future experiments was also exposed.

Book Exotic Nuclei and Nuclear particle Astrophysics

Download or read book Exotic Nuclei and Nuclear particle Astrophysics written by S. Stoica and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume documents an important event in the World Year of Physics 2005 and a continuation of the traditional international summer schools that have taken place in Romania regularly since 1964. On one hand, the study of exotic nuclei seeks answers about the structure and interaction of unique finite quantum mechanical many-body systems. On the other, it provides data that have an impact on the understanding of the origin of the elements in the Universe. The contributions, written by outstanding professors from prestigious research centers over the world, provide the reader with both comprehensive reviews and the most recent results in the field. Large experimental facilities are discussed together with future research projects. The book offers insights into how experiments in terrestrial nuclear physics laboratories may be combined with observations in outer space to enlarge our basic knowledge.

Book Handbook of Applications of Chaos Theory

Download or read book Handbook of Applications of Chaos Theory written by Christos H. Skiadas and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 934 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In addition to explaining and modeling unexplored phenomena in nature and society, chaos uses vital parts of nonlinear dynamical systems theory and established chaotic theory to open new frontiers and fields of study. Handbook of Applications of Chaos Theory covers the main parts of chaos theory along with various applications to diverse areas. Expert contributors from around the world show how chaos theory is used to model unexplored cases and stimulate new applications. Accessible to scientists, engineers, and practitioners in a variety of fields, the book discusses the intermittency route to chaos, evolutionary dynamics and deterministic chaos, and the transition to phase synchronization chaos. It presents important contributions on strange attractors, self-exciting and hidden attractors, stability theory, Lyapunov exponents, and chaotic analysis. It explores the state of the art of chaos in plasma physics, plasma harmonics, and overtone coupling. It also describes flows and turbulence, chaotic interference versus decoherence, and an application of microwave networks to the simulation of quantum graphs. The book proceeds to give a detailed presentation of the chaotic, rogue, and noisy optical dissipative solitons; parhelic-like circle and chaotic light scattering; and interesting forms of the hyperbolic prism, the Poincaré disc, and foams. It also covers numerous application areas, from the analysis of blood pressure data and clinical digital pathology to chaotic pattern recognition to economics to musical arts and research.

Book The Physics of Warm Nuclei

Download or read book The Physics of Warm Nuclei written by Helmut Hofmann and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2008-04-17 with total page 648 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a comprehensive survey of basic elements of nuclear dynamics at low energies and discusses similarities to mesoscopic systems. It addresses systems with finite excitations of their internal degrees of freedom, so that their collective motion exhibits features typical for transport processes in small and isolated systems. The importance of quantum aspects is examined with respect to both the microscopic damping mechanism and the nature of the transport equations. The latter must account for the fact that the collective motion is self-sustained. This implies highly nonlinear couplings between internal and collective degrees of freedom —- different to assumptions made in treatments known in the literature. A critical discussion of the use of thermal concepts is presented. The book can be considered self-contained. It presents existing models, theories and theoretical tools, both from nuclear physics and other fields, which are relevant to an understanding of the observed physical phenomena.
