Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Promised Messiah(as) wrote Fountain of Christianity in March 1906, in response to the book Yansbi-ul-Islam, in which a Christian gentleman has tried to prove that the Holy Quran does not contain any new teachings and that the Holy Prophet(sa) merely copied the narratives from past scriptures-God forbid. The Promised Messiah(as) responded to this objection, first, by raising serious doubts about the authenticity of the Christian Gospels, and then went on to show how the Holy Quran is a unique and peerless book, how so many of its prophecies have been fulfilled, and how its blessings live on to this day. In this small book, the author also argues against the doctrines of Trinity and Atonement held by present-day Christians, and shows that these beliefs have nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus(as) himself. The second part of the book, or Epilogue, consists of a profound thesis on the meaning of true salvation. The Promised Messiah(as) describes salvation as "The abiding peace and happiness which man, by his very nature, hungers and thirsts for,and which is achieved through personal love and recognition of God, and through a perfect relationship with Him."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A trinitarian exposition of Christian soteriology The relation of God and salvation is not primarily a problem to be solved. Rather, it is the blazing core of Christian doctrine, where the triune nature of God and the truth of the gospel come together. Accordingly, a healthy Christian theology must confess the doctrine of the Trinity and the doctrine of salvation as closely related, mutually illuminating, and strictly ordered. When the two doctrines are left unconnected, both suffer. The doctrine of the Trinity begins to seem altogether irrelevant to salvation history and Christian experience, while soteriology meanwhile becomes naturalized, losing its transcendent reference. If they are connected too tightly, on the other hand, human salvation seems inherent to the divine reality itself. Deftly navigating this tension, Fountain of Salvation relates them by expounding the doctrine of eternal processions and temporal missions, ultimately showing how they inherently belong together. The theological vision expounded here by Fred Sanders is one in which the holy Trinity is the source of salvation in a direct and personal way, as the Father sends the Son and the Holy Spirit to enact an economy of revelation and redemption. Individual chapters show how this vision informs the doctrines of atonement, ecclesiology, Christology, and pneumatology—all while directly engaging with major modern interpreters of the doctrine of the Trinity. As Sanders affirms throughout this in-depth theological treatise, the triune God is the fountain from which all other doctrine flows—and no understanding of salvation is complete that does not begin there.

Book Slavery Civil War and Salvation

Download or read book Slavery Civil War and Salvation written by Daniel L. Fountain and published by LSU Press. This book was released on 2010-10 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the Civil War, traditional history tells us, Afro-Christianity proved a strong force for slaves' perseverance and hope of deliverance. In Slavery, Civil War, and Salvation, however, Daniel Fountain raises the possibility that Afro-Christianity played a less significant role within the antebellum slave community than most scholars currently assert. Bolstering his argument with a quantitative survey of religious behavior and WPA slave narratives, Fountain presents a new timeline for the African American conversion experience. Both the survey and the narratives reveal that fewer than 40 percent of individuals who gave a datable conversion experience had become Christians prior to acquiring freedom. Fountain pairs the survey results with an in-depth examination of the obstacles within the slaves' religious landscape that made conversion more difficult if not altogether unlikely, including infrequent access to religious instruction, the inconsistent Christian message offered to slaves, and the slaves' evolving religious identity. Furthermore, he provides other possible explanations for beliefs that on the surface resembled Christianity but in fact adhered to traditional African religions. Fountain maintains that only after emancipation and the fulfillment of the predicted Christian deliverance did African Americans more consistently turn to Christianity. Freedom, Fountain contends, brought most former slaves into the Christian faith. Provocative and enlightening, Slavery, Civil War, and Salvation redefines the role of Christianity within the slave community.

Book The Fountain of Life Opened Up

Download or read book The Fountain of Life Opened Up written by John Flavel and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-03-12 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work is a collection of 42 of Flavel's sermons on the person and work of Christ. Being a puritan, the work Flavel displays here is well thought out but presented in a way that will require some reflection from the reader. In a time when Christian values, especially those of the Catholic church were being called into question, it is important to take a historical look at what the puritan preachers were teaching in their day in order for us to get a sense of what Christ in this circumstance, requires from us and Flavel gives a good picture of who Christ was and his requirements of us.

Book The Fountain of Public Prosperity

Download or read book The Fountain of Public Prosperity written by Stuart Piggin and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The official religion brought to Australia with the First Fleet was Evangelical Christianity, the 'vital religion' then shaping public policy through William Wilberforce and his fellow evangelicals. That it has shaped Australian history ever since, making a substantial contribution to the public prosperity of the nation, is an untold story. Christian values and identity were the main components of Australian values and identity. Evangelical 'moralising' may be understood as a concern to address the 'hard' cultures associated with convicts, the liquor industry, and male misogyny. The movement provided opportunities for women to work in reform, charitable, evangelistic and missionary organisations, thus laying strong foundations for feminism. In their concern for 'Christlike citizenship', evangelicals cared for the nation's children in Sunday schools and its youth in societies for young people such as the YMCA, YWCA, and Christian Endeavour. The major component of the humanitarian movement, evangelicals ensured that the convict settlement of Australia was more humane than is generally recognised. They did most of the all-too-little that was done to protect the Indigenous population and to educate settlers, keeping alive in the latter a conscience over maltreatment of the former. In a profusion of charities, evangelicals in the nineteenth century, as today, provided most of the welfare for the population's disadvantaged. The Fountain of Public Prosperity presents propositions which require a radical revision of received understandings, an appreciation of unmined riches in the Australian experience, and reconnection with an often buried past. Drawing on these untapped resources is the safest route to reimagining a future for Australia.

  • Pages : 576 pages

Download or read book Fountain of Life written by John Flavel and published by . This book was released on 2011-05-25 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theologian John Flavel was a 15th century Puritan living in England. He was a prolific writer, and produced at least 10 major works. Fountain of Life is a collection of 42 of his sermons, most of which focus on the life, work, and importance of Christ. Flavel's writing is often grandiose, giving his words a sense of great importance. He follows the typical Puritan style of prose, so his sermons will surely take a lot of thought on the part of the reader, but they ultimately exhibit a mastery of the subject of Christ and will be useful for those looking for deep theology on the subject.

CHRIST'S ADVENT TO JUDGMENT, BEING THE FOURTH AND LAST DEGREE OF HIS EXALTATION, ILLUSTRATED AND IMPROVED. ACTS X. 42. AND HE COMMANDED DS TO PREACH CNTO THE PEOPLE, AND TO TESTIFY THAT IT IS HE WHICH WAS ORDAINED OF GOD TO BE THE JUDGB OF QUICK AND DEAD. Christ, enthroned in the highest glory in heaven, is there to abide for the effectual and successful government, both of the world, and of the church, until the number given him by the Father, before the world was, and purchased by the blood of the cross, be gathered in; and then cometh the judgment of the great day, which will perfectly separate the precious from the vile; put the redeemed in full possession of the purchase of his blood in heaven; and "then shall he deliver up the kingdom to his Father, that God may be all in all." This last act of Christ, namely, his judging the world, is a special part of his exaltation and honour bestowed upon him, "because he is the Son of man," John v. 27. In that day shall his glory, as King, and supreme Lord, shine forth as the sun when it shineth in its strength. Oh what an honour will it be to the man Christ Jesus, who stood arraigned and condemned at Pilate's bar, to sit upon the great white throne, surrounded with thousands and ten thousands of angels; men and devils waiting upon him to receive the final sentence from his mouth! In this will the glory of Christ's sovereignty and power be illustriously displayed before angels and men. And this is that great truth which he commanded to be preached and testified to the people, namely, that it is "he which is ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead." Wherein we have three things to be distinctly considered, namely, the subject, object, ana fountain of the supreme judiciary...
