Utilizing these statistics, the researcher was able to make an evaluation of how well the International Association of Fire Chiefs reflected the membership of its organization. The results show that the IAFC met, and in certain cases exceeded, the current standard found in the general population of chief officers surveyed in the United States. The survey also pointed out that although the IAFC was able to successfully exceed the standards of the general chiefs population in some areas that there was a need for further recruitment within the IAFC organization of women and minorities.
