Book Che cos il potere politico

Download or read book Che cos il potere politico written by Dario Giorgio Pezzini and published by Gruppo Albatros Il Filo. This book was released on 2018-10-21 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Dario Giorgio Pezzini è nato a Viareggio (1952). Dopo gli studi di logica, filosofia, teoria generale del diritto, scienze politiche e sociali (Stoccolma, Pisa), ha insegnato all’Università di Pisa.

Book Foucault Biopolitics and Resistance

Download or read book Foucault Biopolitics and Resistance written by Lauri Siisiäinen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-11-26 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Political resistance is flourishing. In this context, there is a growing interest to reread Michel Foucault’s work, especially from the late period, from the perspective of resistance, social movements and affirmative biopolitics. Yet what has been missing so far is a book-length, comprehensive study focusing on this topic. This volume undertakes this task, providing an original typology of the resources of resistance discovered in Foucault’s late thinking: resistance as discursive protection of autonomy bodily and affective resistance the strategies, arts and practices of affirmative biopolitics or ‘politics of life’ The book shows how these different types of tools, arts and practices can be used in resistant politics, in struggles against various regimes and institutions of power and government, so that they mutually supplement and reinforce one another. The author embarks on advancing Foucault’s insights on resistance from where he stopped. Furthermore, the volume proposes a novel assessment of the Foucauldian political toolkit in the 21st century context, addressing its pertinence for struggles against neoliberalism and post-Fordist capitalism. Foucault, Biopolitics and Resistance will be an important resource for students and scholars interested in Foucault, resistance and 21st century politics within many fields, including political science, international relations, contemporary and continental philosophy as well as sociology. The work elaborates fresh methodological insights, fruitful for further empirical research on social and political movements.

Book Foucault and Power

Download or read book Foucault and Power written by Marcelo Hoffman and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Michel Foucault is one of the most preeminent theorists of power, yet the relationship between his militant activities and his analysis of power remains unclear. The book explores this relationship to explain the development of Foucault's thinking about power. Using newly translated and unpublished materials, it examines what led Foucault to take on the question of power in the early 1970s and subsequently refine his thinking, working through different models (war and government) and modalities (disciplinary, biopolitical and governmental). Looking at Foucault's political trajectory, from his immersion in the prisoner support movement to his engagements with the Iranian revolution and Solidarity in Poland, the book shows the militant underpinning of his interest in the question of power and its various shifts and mutations. This thorough account, which includes the first translation of a report edited by Foucault on prison conditions, will provide students in contemporary political theory with a better understanding of Foucault's thinking about power and of the interplay between political activities and theoretical productions.

Book The Later Foucault

Download or read book The Later Foucault written by Jeremy Moss and published by SAGE. This book was released on 1998-03-06 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why does Foucault's work continue to be of central importance in current debates in sociology, political science and philosophy? Why do we still read him as a guide to contemporary social and cultural life? Foucault's work presents a provocative challenge to orthodox, habitual forms of belief and practice. The Later Foucault," "with an impressive interdisciplinary focus, argues that one of the keys to understanding Foucault is his political thought. It is this which he expressed clearly in his last writings and which pulled together his earlier interests in power, agency and subjectivity. In this volume a distinguished array of Foucauldian scholars and commentators on politics explore the significance of these last writings. They examine such key issues as the question of Foucault and human rights; his relationship to ethical thought, power and freedom; his relationship to feminism; and comparisons of his work with Levinas and Rawls.
