Book FORTRAN Tools for VAX VMS and MS DOS

Download or read book FORTRAN Tools for VAX VMS and MS DOS written by Russell K. Jones and published by Wiley. This book was released on 1988-11-02 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to write software tools in Fortran. Demonstrates good programming style with programs and routines that illustrate important design principles and methods. Includes many real, working programs--these programs are documented and tested, and they are portable. The style is pragmatic and informal, with brief discussions of the theory behind several advanced programming techniques. Shows how to systematically subdivide a large problem into smaller ones that are easier to solve, and how to design Fortran programs around data structures. Also contains in-depth discussions of file I/O and character data processing in Fortran, hash tables, lexical analyzers, compilers, and machine instruction sets.

Book Biomedical Modeling and Simulation on a PC

Download or read book Biomedical Modeling and Simulation on a PC written by Rogier P.van Wijk van Brievingh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-12 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have long had an interest in the life sciences, but have had few opportunities to indulge that interest in my professional activities. It has only been through simulation that those opportunities have arisen. Some of my most enjoyable classes were those I taught to students in the life sciences, where I attempted to show them the value of simulation to their discipline. That there is such a value cannot be questioned. Whether you are interested in population ecology, phar macokinetics, the cardiovascular system, or cell interaction, simulation can play a vital role in explaining the underlying processes and in enhancing our understanding of these processes. This book comprises an excellent collection of contributions, and clearly demonstrates the value of simulation in the particular areas of physiology and bioengineering. My main frustration when teaching these classes to people with little or no computer background was the lack of suitable simulation software. This di rectly inspired my own attempts at producing software usable by the computer novice. It is especially nice that software is available that enables readers to experience the examples in this book for themselves. I would like to congratulate and thank the editors, Rogier P. van Wijk van Brievingh and Dietmar P. P. Moller, for all of their excellent efforts. They should be proud of their achievement. This is the sixth volume in the Advances in Simulation series, and other volumes are in preparation.

Book Computer Aided Design in Control and Engineering Systems

Download or read book Computer Aided Design in Control and Engineering Systems written by P. Martin Larsen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-17 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer Aided Design in Control and Engineering Systems contains the proceedings of the 3rd International Federation of Automatic Control/International Federation for Information Processing Symposium held in Lyngby, Denmark, from July 31 to August 2, 1985. The papers review the state of the art and the trends in development of computer aided design (CAD) of control and engineering systems, techniques, procedures, and concepts. This book is comprised of 74 chapters divided into 17 sections and begins with a description of a prototype computer environment that combines expert control system analysis and design tools. The discussion then turns to decision support systems which could be used to address problems of management and control of large-scale multiproduct multiline batch manufacturing outside the mechanical engineering industries. The following chapters focus on the use of CAD in control education, industrial applications of CAD, and hardware/software systems. Some examples of universal and specialized CAD packages are presented, and applications of CAD in electric power plants, process control systems, and transportation systems are highlighted. The remaining chapters look at CAD/computer aided engineering/computer aided manufacturing systems as well as the use of mathematical methods in CAD. This monograph will be of interest to practitioners in computer science, computer engineering, and industrial engineering.
