Book Qualitative Metasynthesis

Download or read book Qualitative Metasynthesis written by Kirsti Malterud and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-06-05 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Qualitative Metasynthesis presents a research method developed for upcycling and synthesis of qualitative primary studies, aimed at researchers within medicine and health sciences. This book demonstrates how and why qualitative metasynthesis can be a method for reuse and expansion of medical knowledge. It presents the principles of metasynthesis as a qualitative research method, so that the reader can assess whether this is a research strategy that fits the aim of their study. The author offers practical advice for conducting research using this methodology. The presentation is illustrated by a study carried out by the author and collaborators, reflecting on real-life challenges and solutions as an example of meta-ethnography, one of the most frequently used strategies for qualitative metasynthesis. The author also looks at systematic reviews, a methodology developed within in the tradition of evidence-based medicine, discussing strengths, weaknesses and pitfalls of this methodology. Rooted in the interpretative paradigm, qualitative metasynthesis challenges several of the principles from the evidence-based medicine tradition, offering reflections on challenges when epistemologically very different methodologies intersect. This book should be considered essential reading for anyone carrying out qualitative research within the fields of medicine, health and social care.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the beginnings of its development in Britain in 1987, the Looking After Children (LAC) initiative has had a profound influence in Canada-as well as in Australia and across Europe-in sharpening the developmental focus and improving the quality of services for children and adolescents who, because of abuse, neglect, extreme poverty, or other circumstances, live in out-of-home care. Book Corporate Social Responsibility in India Trends Issues and Strategies

Download or read book Corporate Social Responsibility in India Trends Issues and Strategies written by Sateesh Gouda M and published by Anchor Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2017-02 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – the commitment of organizations to balance financial performance with contributions to the quality of life of their employees, the local community and society at large – is gaining worldwide value as a business tool and social effort. The review of literature suggests that many studies have been undertaken globally to understand CSR as a subject of management but there have been very few studies undertaken to understand the other dimension of CSR which is beneficiary (community) aspect of CSR, especially in India. Here, the authors make an attempt to understand the CSR concept from both the dimensions of CSR i.e. management and beneficiaries of CSR (community). The authors try to understand the issues covered by the management and their implementing strategies in order to meet community needs. Also, the authors try to study the requirements and satisfaction of the community in the area where the corporates implement CSR. This type of attempt is the first one in India to study the community awareness and ist knowledge about CSR as well as the organisations working in the community. The present study also tries to measure the impact of CSR activities undertaken by the organizations in a way to have the sustainable development at village level. In this context, the present study plays a significant role in the field of Research Methodology, the field of management as well as social science, especially from the social work perspective. To meet the study objectives, both primary and secondary data were used. The primary data was collected in Karnataka, India by selecting nine organisations, three of each from Govt., Private and Multinational companies; those were recognised as leaders in implementing CSR activities. To understand the impact of CSR on community, 450 community respondents were also interviewed with the help of structured questionnaire. Secondary data for the study was obtained from Karmayog. CSR Ratings of the 500 largest Indian companies and other similar studies, other available articles, books, companies’ annual reports and related publications were reviewed in the study.

Book Food Sovereignty in International Context

Download or read book Food Sovereignty in International Context written by Amy Trauger and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-02-11 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Food sovereignty is an emerging discourse of empowerment and autonomy in the food system with the development of associated practices in rural and some urban spaces. While literature on food sovereignty has proliferated since the first usage of the term in 1996 at the Rome Food Summit, most has been descriptive rather than explanatory in nature, and often confuses food sovereignty with other movements and objectives such as alternative food networks, food justice, or food self-sufficiency. This book is a collection of empirically rich and theoretically engaged papers across a broad geographical spectrum reflecting on what constitutes the politics and practices of food sovereignty. They contribute to a theoretical gap in the food sovereignty literature as well as a relative shortage of empirical work on food sovereignty in the global "North", much previous work having focussed on Latin America. Specific case studies are included from Canada, Norway, Switzerland, southern Europe, UK and USA, as well as Africa, India and Ecuador. The book presents new research on the emergence of food sovereignties. It offers a wide variety of empirical examples and a theoretically engaged framework for explaining the aims of actors and organizations working toward autonomy and democracy in the food system.

Download or read book Becoming Pedagogue written by Liselott Mariett Olsson and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-03-31 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Returning to the origins of education, Becoming Pedagogue explores its role in today’s society by reuniting philosophy with pedagogy. It investigates the aesthetics, ethics and politics of childhood, education and what a teacher really does, enabling educators to define and perform their profession as per its historical and intellectual roots. Reflecting on the practice, science and knowledge tradition of pedagogy as well as abstract and formalist discourse at all levels, Olsson’s work evokes real, becoming and free aspects of educational experiences and events. Through a close reading of French philosopher Henri Bergson’s major works, historical and contemporary pedagogical resources as well as the pedagogy developed in the early childhood centres in Reggio Emilia, Italy, it develops a critical-cum-creative methodology that both analyses the present educational situation as well as creates new pedagogical alternatives. Using brand new perspectives as well as practical examples of what teachers do, Becoming Pedagogue will provide students, educators and researchers tools for critiquing simplified ideas of what a teacher is as well as giving them inspiration to experiment with alternative ways of teaching.

Book Oppressed Pride

Download or read book Oppressed Pride written by Khalid Rashid and published by Khalid Rashid. This book was released on 2013-05-31 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Honour related violence and oppression is a relatively new phenomenon in Sweden that received political and medial attention in the 1990's. A lot of research has been made since then in order to understand the phenomenon and to improve the interventions against it. Most of the focus have been on women under HRVO, which stands for the majority who falls victim for this crime. This study aims to bring forth more shades of this phenomenon by exploring how professionals identify and give recognition to the needs, vulnerabilities and obstacles for sexual minorities who seeks aid from public services, as they've become targets for patriarchal violence and oppression. This is done by presenting three different vignettes of LGBTQ persons who are exposed to different forms of HRVO during semi-structured interviews. Twelve respondents from three different professional categories were interviewed: social welfare officers, counsellors and housing personnel. The participants in the interviews varied from one up to four simultaneously. The gathered results tells of several important aspects in the work with HRVO cases, among them are: refreshing and enhancing the professional's knowledge, being able to adapt to the client's needs and to grant a safe environment for the client during the ongoing assessment. The results also show difficulties for the professionals, such as facing conflicting legislation, whether HRVO is seen as a patriarchal phenomenon or a cultural relativistic phenomenon and high workload.
