Book Formulas and Theorems for the Special Functions of Mathematical Physics

Download or read book Formulas and Theorems for the Special Functions of Mathematical Physics written by Wilhelm Magnus and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a new and enlarged English edition of the book which, under the title "Formeln und Satze fur die Speziellen Funktionen der mathe matischen Physik" appeared in German in 1946. Much of the material (part of it unpublished) did not appear in the earlier editions. We hope that these additions will be useful and yet not too numerous for the purpose of locating .with ease any particular result. Compared to the first two (German) editions a change has taken place as far as the list of references is concerned. They are generally restricted to books and monographs and accomodated at the end of each individual chapter. Occasional references to papers follow those results to which they apply. The authors felt a certain justification for this change. At the time of the appearance of the previous edition nearly twenty years ago much of the material was scattered over a number of single contributions. Since then most of it has been included in books and monographs with quite exhaustive bibliographies. For information about numerical tables the reader is referred to "Mathematics of Computation", a periodical publis hed by the American Mathematical Society; "Handbook of Mathe matical Functions" with formulas, graphs and mathematical tables National Bureau of Standards Applied Mathematics Series, 55, 1964, 1046 pp., Government Printing Office, Washington, D.C., and FLETCHER, MILLER, ROSENHEAD, Index of Mathematical Tables, Addison-Wesley, Reading, Mass.) .. There is a list of symbols and abbreviations at the end of the book.

Book Introduction to the Mathematics of Medical Imaging

Download or read book Introduction to the Mathematics of Medical Imaging written by Charles L. Epstein and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 794 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the heart of every medical imaging technology is a sophisticated mathematical model of the measurement process and an algorithm to reconstruct an image from the measured data. This book provides a firm foundation in the mathematical tools used to model the measurements and derive the reconstruction algorithms used in most of these modalities. The text uses X-ray computed tomography (X-ray CT) as a 'pedagogical machine' to illustrate important ideas and its extensive discussion of background material makes the more advanced mathematical topics accessible to people with a less formal mathematical education. This new edition contains a chapter on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a revised section on the relationship between the continuum and discrete Fourier transforms, an improved description of the gridding method, and new sections on both Grangreat's formula and noise analysis in MR-imaging. Mathematical concepts are illuminated with over 200 illustrations and numerous exercises.

Book Spectral Means of Central Values of Automorphic L Functions for GL 2

Download or read book Spectral Means of Central Values of Automorphic L Functions for GL 2 written by Masao Tsuzuki and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2015-04-09 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Starting with Green's functions on adele points of considered over a totally real number field, the author elaborates an explicit version of the relative trace formula, whose spectral side encodes the informaton on period integrals of cuspidal waveforms along a maximal split torus. As an application, he proves two kinds of asymptotic mean formula for certain central -values attached to cuspidal waveforms with square-free level.

Book The Theory of the Top Volume IV

Download or read book The Theory of the Top Volume IV written by Felix Klein and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-02-04 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Theory of the Top was originally presented by Felix Klein as an 1895 lecture at Göttingen University that was broadened in scope and clarified as a result of collaboration with Arnold Sommerfeld. The Theory of the Top: Volume IV. Technical Applications of the Theory of the Top is the fourth and final installment in a series of self-contained English translations that provide insights into kinetic theory and kinematics.

Book Frobenius Distributions Lang Trotter and Sato Tate Conjectures

Download or read book Frobenius Distributions Lang Trotter and Sato Tate Conjectures written by David Kohel and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2016-04-26 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the Winter School and Workshop on Frobenius Distributions on Curves, held from February 17–21, 2014 and February 24–28, 2014, at the Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques, Marseille, France. This volume gives a representative sample of current research and developments in the rapidly developing areas of Frobenius distributions. This is mostly driven by two famous conjectures: the Sato-Tate conjecture, which has been recently proved for elliptic curves by L. Clozel, M. Harris and R. Taylor, and the Lang-Trotter conjecture, which is still widely open. Investigations in this area are based on a fine mix of algebraic, analytic and computational techniques, and the papers contained in this volume give a balanced picture of these approaches.

Book Arithmetic Geometry Cryptography and Coding Theory

Download or read book Arithmetic Geometry Cryptography and Coding Theory written by Stéphane Ballet and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2021-07-01 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Arithmetic, Geometry, Cryptography and Coding Theory (AGC2T-17), held from June 10–14, 2019, at the Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques in Marseille, France. The conference was dedicated to the memory of Gilles Lachaud, one of the founding fathers of the AGC2T series. Since the first meeting in 1987 the biennial AGC2T meetings have brought together the leading experts on arithmetic and algebraic geometry, and the connections to coding theory, cryptography, and algorithmic complexity. This volume highlights important new developments in the field.
