Book Formation and Destruction of Nitrogen Oxides in Coal Combustion Reburning

Download or read book Formation and Destruction of Nitrogen Oxides in Coal Combustion Reburning written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of stoichiometric constraints under equilibrium conditions provides us with the following information related to reburning as a NO reduction technology: (1) The stoichiometry of air to fuel is the most important stoichiometry of air to fuel is the most important stoichiometric variable for reburning; (2) based on equivalent energy production, the comparative reduction efficiencies of the reburning fuels follow the trend: methane> ethane, ammonia> butane> aromatics, coal> CO; (3) the nitrogen in burning coals causes increases in equilibrium NO; (4) equilibrium TFN is not very sensitive in inlet NO concentration; (5) the heat carried by the flue gas in reburning could push the NO reduction toward equilibrium. If so, reburning has a strong correlation with air staging with air preheat. Further experimental verification is required.

Book Formation and Destruction of Nitrogen Oxides in Coal Combustion

Download or read book Formation and Destruction of Nitrogen Oxides in Coal Combustion written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This program addresses the mechanisms of NO reduction in pulverized coal flames using reburning. Using both thermodynamic and kinetic simulation combined with both pilot and bench scale experimental work, we propose to better define the conditions that lead to the destruction of NO, without the concomitant increase in other nitrogeneous pollutants. Specifically, the interactions between NO and hydrocarbon constituents in the fuel, and the fate of fuel nitrogen are the focal points of this research. Isotope doped 15 NO is used for tracing the reaction pathways.

Book Air Pollution by Nitrogen Oxides

Download or read book Air Pollution by Nitrogen Oxides written by L. Grant and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 1125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studies in Environmental Science, Volume 21: Air Pollution by Nitrogen Oxides presents the proceedings of the US–Dutch International Symposium on Nitrogen Oxide, held in Maastricht, The Netherlands on May 24–28, 1982. This book provides research and development information related to the national and international policies on nitrogen oxides in the United States, The Netherland, Japan, and elsewhere in Europe. Organized into five sessions encompassing 94 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the atmospheric cycle of nitrogen oxide in terms of source strength, destruction rates, and atmospheric chemistry. This text then examines the fundamental physical and chemical processes involved in the formation of nitrogen oxides. Other chapters consider the regional pulmonary deposition of nitrogen dioxide in man, guinea pigs, rats, and rabbits by using a general mathematical model formulation for the transport of gases in the lungs. This book discusses as well the emission control methods and systems with low nitrogen oxide capability for possible application in The Netherlands and other parts of Europe. This book is a valuable resource for government administrative officials, research scientists, air pollution control experts, and students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is based on the lectures presented at the NATO Advanced Study Institute: (ASI) «Pollutants Formation from Combustion. Formation Mechanisms and Impact on th th Atmospheric Chemistry» held in Maratea, Italy, from 13 to 26 september 1998. Preservation of the environment is of increasing concern in individual countries but also at continental or world scales. The structure of a NATO ASI which involve lecturers and participants of different nationalities was thought as especially well suited to address environmental issues. As combustion is known to substantially contribute to the damaging of the atmosphere, it was natural to concentrate the ASI program on reviewing the currently available knowledge of the formation mechanisms of the main pollutants liberated by combustion systems. In most situations, pollutants are present as trace components and their formation and removal is strongly conditioned by the chemical reactions initiated by fuel consumption. Therefore specific lectures were aimed at defining precisely the general properties of combustion chemistry for gaseous, liquid and solid fuels. Physical factors can strongly affect the combustion chemistry and their influence was also considered. An interesting peculiarity of this specific ASI was to complement the program with a substantial part concerned with the impact of the main combustion pollutants: NOx, aromatics, soot, VOCs, sulphur and chlorinated compounds, on atmospheric chemistry.
