Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GRIEF-has no rules and in many ways, it will last as long as love does. ForeverJULY IS BEREAVED PARENTS [awareness] MONTH.Approximately 73,000 children under the age of 18 die each year in the US which makes hundreds of thousands of grieving parents. However, in volume 8 of this collection, we are going to be honoring the grandparents who have experienced the loss of a grandchild. Grandparents, "the forgotten grievers" coined the term because although they are doubly grieved by the ache for their grandchild and pain of their own child are often overlooked along with the support needed. Usually, this exclusion is not intentional-grandparents are simply overlooked in all the turmoil. Please be mindful of grieving grandparents and offer support wherever you can. So what is a grief journal? A grief journal records the experience of grief, which has therapeutic qualities. The journal provides a venue for expression without fear of judgment, which also helps reconstruct the personal self narrative, which is critical in the healing process. Some people say that writing through their grief was the only way they were able to cope after their child had died. Writing daily for approx. 15-20min. is all it takes to begin the healing process.Whether you or someone you know has recently lost a child, or it was a while ago- the benefits of writing through the grief remain the same. This grief journal is part of a series titled: July is Bereaved Parents Month and is dedicated in loving memory to, Claire Alyse. There is never a footprint too small to leave an imprint on this world and at 5yrs young, Claire's were no exception.Journal Details: 6x9- compact size fits in most bags and ideal for on-the-go 110 pages- lined Printing- Using the most up-to-date/current techniques, the cover is printed with a matte finish and the paper is superior quality with bleed resistant technology Cover Design- Created by the design team at BOLDconcepts. Please join us in raising awareness of the support necessary for parents and their families who have experienced the death of a child. Family/friend support can make a big difference. Do you know someone (a friend, co-worker, or family member) who has lost a child? Try to give them a helping hand. Sharing your love and support with them may help heal the wounded hearts of grieving parents. For the rest of this series and for other great titles, head over to the Amazon Author Page for Deena Cunningham and please, leave a review!

Book excerpt: Thirty-three-year-old Savannah appears to have everything to the average outsider looking in – a successful and fulfilling job, a loving parent, an active love life, and beauty. But something is missing. After a series of unfortunate events, which begin after the death of the beloved matriarch of her family, Eileen, Savannah’s life falls apart. Does she have the strength to put it back together? Inspired by events in Ms. Robinson’s own life, Forever and One Day questions the meaning of life and what society considers to be normal. Which is more important – appearances to society or inner peace and happiness? Impressive and thought-provoking, it is a portrait of a woman desperate for comfort, yet seeking liberation from the generational patterns that rule her world.

Download or read book Lincoln s Forgotten Ally written by Leonard, Elizabeth and published by Univ of North Carolina Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manuscript is the first biography of Joseph Holt, the U.S. Army's Judge Advocate General during the Civil War. Leonard argues that Holt has been portrayed as more or less a caricature of himself, flatly represented as the brutal prosecutor of Lincoln's assassins and the judge who allowed Mary Surratt to be hanged despite knowing her sentence had been reduced. Leonard contends that the southern view of Holt became the predominant way we see him, in large part because the memory perpetrated by the Lost Cause defined Holt as ruthless toward Southerners and the South. But Leonard argues that there is much more to Holt than what sympathizers with the Lost Cause came to think of him, and she tells his story here, from his early life in Kentucky to his wartime life as a member of Lincoln's administration to his postwar life as the prosecutor of Lincoln's assassins. Perhaps most important, Leonard will look at the erasure of Holt from American memory and investigate how such a significant figure has come to be so widely misunderstood.

While so much of the conversation about LGBT+ inclusion has focused on theology and ideology, few have actually interacted with the raw, real stories and experiences of LGBT+ Christians. In this volume, LGBT+ Christian activist and theologian Brandan Robertson has brought together stories of LGBT+ Christians from around the world combined with his theological insights to create a powerful book that will challenge, convict, and inspire readers from all theological backgrounds to examine their posture and message toward the LGBT+ community and embrace the revival that the Holy Spirit is igniting among queer Christians around the world.

Download or read book Lost Sound written by Jeff Porter and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2016-03-11 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Archibald MacLeish to David Sedaris, radio storytelling has long borrowed from the world of literature, yet the narrative radio work of well-known writers and others is a story that has not been told before. And when the literary aspects of specific programs such as The War of the Worlds or Sorry, Wrong Number were considered, scrutiny was superficial. In Lost Sound, Jeff Porter examines the vital interplay between acoustic techniques and modernist practices in the growth of radio. Concentrating on the 1930s through the 1970s, but also speaking to the rising popularity of today's narrative broadcasts such as This American Life, Radiolab, Serial, and The Organist, Porter's close readings of key radio programs show how writers adapted literary techniques to an acoustic medium with great effect. Addressing avant-garde sound poetry and experimental literature on the air, alongside industry policy and network economics, Porter identifies the ways radio challenged the conventional distinctions between highbrow and lowbrow cultural content to produce a dynamic popular culture.
