This book was released on 2018-08-14 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In I Never Wanted to Be a Princess - Good Thing or How I lost 380 Pounds without Diet or Exercise, the events are true life experiences, including the issues with the chocolate syrup can. It is a love story, in a sense, sometimes sad, sometimes angry, more times humorous, with a little sarcasm and inspiration thrown in for good measure. The intent-to inspire others to keep up the good fight. Punching a forty-pound long bag helps. We all have storms in our lives, and many have had more "him-a-canes" and "her-a-canes" than me, but with perseverance, you can turn the page on a new chapter of your life. Even when things go . . . not so much as planned. My situation is not uncommon but is one of the hardest things I have dealt with. Writing this book has given me the insight and desire to go on and want a better life and "find myself" as they say. By doing so, I have gained a healthier, happier, and more successful life. I managed to get through life's trials and tribulations, even when I ran out of chocolate chips. A sense of humor helps to get through. I prefer jeans and a T-shirt over formal attire but can clean up when needed. I think tomboys have more fun. I can't really judge because I have never been a princess and, most likely, never will be. I begin a diet on Monday and usually quit Monday night or early Tuesday. I rather laugh than cry. I have a deep faith and not going to second-guess that there is a man or woman above that helps us through life with our best interests at heart. I did have a painful weight loss. Tipping the scales broke my heart, but this is not a diet book. Seeing me, you would know I am not a diet expert. From these pages, I hope you are encouraged, get plenty of laughs, and gain a deeper understanding of what it is like to sit on the cold hard toilet seat of life.

It’s a trip he was supposed to take with his girlfriend, Sara. It’s a trip inspired by his regrets. And it’s a trip to pay homage to the Japanese, the inventors of his chosen suicide technique. In preparation for his final voyage, Jonathan enrolls in a Japanese language class where he meets Riko, who has her own plans to visit her homeland, for very different reasons. Their unexpected and unusual friendship takes them to Japan together, where they each struggle to make peace with their past and accept that happiness, loneliness, and grief come and go—just like the cherry blossoms. Download or read book Perfectly Good White Boy written by Carrie Mesrobian and published by Lerner Publishing Group. This book was released on 2014-10-01 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "You never know where we?ll end up. There's so much possibility in life, you know?" Hallie said. Sean Norwhalt can read between the lines. He knows Hallie's just dumped him. He was a perfectly good summer boyfriend, but now she's off to college, and he's still got another year to go. Her pep talk about futures and "possibilities" isn't exactly comforting. Sean's pretty sure he's seen his future and its "possibilities," and they all look DISPOSABLE. Like the crappy rental his family moved into when his dad left. Like all the unwanted filthy old clothes he stuffs into the rag baler at his thrift-store job. Like everything good he's ever known. The only hopeful possibilities in Sean's life are the Marine Corps, where no one expected he'd go, and Neecie Albertson, whom he never expected to care about. Carrie Mesrobian follows her critically acclaimed debut, Sex & Violence, with another powerful and wrenching portrait of a teenage boy on the precipice of the new American future.

Download or read book Managing Your Mind written by Gillian Butler and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2007-03-08 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1995, the first edition of Managing Your Mind established a unique place in the self-help book market. A blend of tried-and-true psychological counseling and no-nonsense management advice grounded in the principles of CBTand other psychological treatments, the book straddled two types of self-help literature, arguing that in one's personal and professional life, the way to success is the same. By adopting the practical strategies that mental health experts Butler and Hope have developed over years of clinical research and practice, one can develop the "mental fitness" necessary to resolve one's personal and interpersonal challenges at home and work and to live a productive, satisfying life. The first edition addressed how to develop key skills to mental fitness (e.g., managing one's time better, facing and solving problems better, keeping things in perspective, learning to relax, etc.), how to improve one's relationships, how to beat anxiety and depression, and how to establish a good mind-body balance. For this new edition, Butler and Hope have updated all preexisting material and have added five new chapters-on sexuality and intimate relationships; anger in relationships; recent traumatic events and their aftermath; loss and bereavement; and dealing with the past.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A debut collection of witty, biting essays laced with a surprising warmth, from Jen Mann, the writer behind the popular blog People I Want to Punch in the Throat People I want to punch in the throat: • anyone who feels the need to bling her washer and dryer • humblebraggers • people who treat their pets like children Jen Mann doesn’t have a filter, which sometimes gets her in trouble with her neighbors, her fellow PTA moms, and that one woman who tried to sell her sex toys at a home shopping party. Known for her hilariously acerbic observations on her blog, People I Want to Punch in the Throat, Mann now brings her sharp wit to bear on suburban life, marriage, and motherhood in this laugh-out-loud collection of essays. From the politics of joining a play group, to the thrill of mothers’ night out at the gun range, to the rewards of your most meaningful relationship (the one you have with your cleaning lady), nothing is sacred or off-limits. So the next time you find yourself wearing fuzzy bunny pajamas in the school carpool line or accidentally stuck at a co-worker’s swingers party, just think, What would Jen Mann do? Or better yet, buy her book. Praise for People I Want to Punch in the Throat “People I Want to Punch in the Throat is so good that it’ll make you want to adopt all the cats in the world. I’m not sure about the correlation, but it’s that good. It should come with a warning.”—Jenny Lawson, author of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened “Jen Mann has an amazing way of telling stories that will make you cringe and burst out laughing at the same time. From swinger parties to racist toddlers, she makes the suburbs unbelievably funny.”—Karen Alpert, author of I Heart My Little A-Holes “Jen Mann says the things we’re all too afraid to say. Her honest and hilarious writing style reminds me of David Sedaris and Tina Fey.”—Robin O’Bryant, author of Ketchup Is a Vegetable: And Other Lies Moms Tell Themselves “Jen Mann’s shrewd and unrelenting assault on the absurdity of suburban life is an honest peek into the occasional nightmare that is part of living the American dream. I love Jen. I wish she was my neighbor. It’s so refreshing to know that I’m not the only one who wants to punch almost everyone in the f***ing throat.”—Nicole Knepper, author of Moms Who Drink And Swear
