Now she will embrace her cold vampire side to hunt down and end Sarren, the irredeemable vampire who murdered him. But the trail is bloody and long, and Sarren has left many shocking surprises along the way. The trail leads Allie and her companions toward the one place they must protect at any cost—Eden, the last vampire-free zone on earth. And Sarren has one final, brutal shock in store for Allie. In this ruined world where no life is sacred and former allies can turn on you in a heartbeat, Allie will make her final stand. Book excerpt: Animated as a family reunion, intimate as a lovers' picnic, American Cookery serves up tradition and innovation in a family novel based on the joy of cooking. The story is complete with twenty-seven recipes from the life and tumultuous times of Eden Douglass. Eden was born in 1920 into a contentious California tribe, and the ingredients of her life include her grandmother's reserve, her aunt's instinct for action, and her mother's foggy warmth. Seasoned with spicy herbs, and a few bitter ones, simmered and stirred over time, these instincts shape her destiny. Two strong-willed women--her grandmother Ruth Douglass and her aunt Afton Lance--struggle to pull Eden from the comfy sloth of her parents' home. Her ill-matched parents drift toward financial collapse, and her father, pursuing phantom wealth, takes the family to an Idaho mining town. He finds fulfillment in Idaho, but Eden's mother breaks down, and Eden must shoulder the household drudgery, burdens not in keeping with her aspirations to be a journalist. Eden's adventurous spirit takes her far from her faith and family. She falls in love in wartime London and rides a motorcycle across war-torn Belgium. After the war, still reeling from a devastating loss, Eden returns to Southern California and is hired by a newspaper, only to confront insidious opposition, yet find an unexpected ally. Then, in 1952, fate puts Eden Douglass in the path of a runaway horse at Greenwater Movie Ranch, where they're filing a B-movie Western. She falls flat on her face, and Matt March lifts her from the dust. Charming and charismatic, with good looks, cowboy boots, and appetite for life, and his VistaVision of the Western, Matt ignites Eden's passion. Three months later, they elope to Mexico. In these exuberant California boom years, Eden nourishes Matt's dreams, even though they are sauced with secrets and larded with debt. He tests Eden's strengths and his children's love. A big-cast book, American Cookery fulfills the wide embrace of its title. The novel chronicles the stories behind family recipes and the lives that touch Eden's--lives of horse thieves, ranchers, railroad men, developers, dreamers, migrants, immigrants, natives, Latter-Day Saints, sinners, silent-film stars, sidekicks, and stunt people. The good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful emerge in these pages as American Cookery serves up the whole gorgeous banquet of life.

Book excerpt: The book is a monologue that tries to capture the likely forms of God. The basic idea is that the universe is God Himself, as a conscious physical entity whose conscience summarizes our consciences. We managed to sustain this universal consciousness. The galaxy is just a cell of the immense being and billions of stars are mitochondria that give energy to the Universe God. It's a book about perception which includes essays on various topics discussed and analyzed by humans for thousands of years .A more forceful and sincere expression of an author who lives on a speck of dust in the universe, fascinated by the exponential evolution of human consciousness. Virtual origin of the universe is reasoned. It's a book that tries compatibility between evolution and creation in that God Himself is created by evolution

Book Salvation History

  • Author : Sungku Kang
  • Publisher : Covenant Books, Inc.
  • Release : 2018-11-15
  • ISBN : 1643001647
  • Pages : 189 pages

Download or read book Salvation History written by Sungku Kang and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-11-15 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Salvation history can be thought of as twofold: one is that God Himself personally takes action and the other is God has humans act. An example of the latter is Exodus in which God had Moses lead the Israelites from Egypt to Canaan. The skin garment that God made with slain animals for the fallen Adam is an example of the former. Adam's fall is the very starting point of God's saving acts in human history. In His saving acts, God utilized his sin as the means of salvation. However, God's plan on saving human beings began far ahead of the creation of Adam, for omniscient God already knew of Adam's fall before the world had begun. As Apostle Peter confirms, God's will to save lost sinners was planned from the very beginning and Jesus Christ was chosen before the creation of the world as our Savior. In His saving plan, Almighty God reversed all the negatives that would arise from Adam's fall into positives, triumphing over them by the cross. We need to be clothed in the robe of righteousness, the garments of salvation through Jesus Christ. The fig leaf coverings sewn by human efforts cannot cover our nakedness. In essence, the grace of salvation originates from God, not from fallible humans. Current human history has been heading towards a thorough restoration of God's image. When the full and perfect restoration of God's image is accomplished, salvation history will finally be complete. Although heavily infected by sin, we have constantly been advancing towards the perfect restoration of God's image and likeness. When Jesus Christ returns to us, our defiled image of God will be transformed into His perfect likeness. On the day when He appears, as Apostle John says, we shall be like Him. That day will be the very end of human history. On that very day, at long last, God's redemptive plan will be completed.

For those who have put their hope and trust in Jesus Christ here on earth, heaven awaits. Addressing questions as basic as What will we do there? and What is it like?, theologian Dr. Paul Enns dives deep into the Scriptures while reflecting on the very personal nature of what is to come. Heaven Revealed is a helpful, easy-to-read guidebook for Christians as well as an encouragement for those of us who are left here on earth after our Christian loved ones fall asleep in the Lord. Follow along as Dr. Enns succinctly leads you through what the Bible has to say about heaven.
