Book An Obstacomer s Journey Through Foresight and Hindsight

Download or read book An Obstacomer s Journey Through Foresight and Hindsight written by Elizabeth Mulenga and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2020-07-31 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have been maintaining a gratitude journal for the past twenty years, which I now refer to as my “gratitude timeline.” I never thought to share some of its contents until after my attempt to purchase inspirational books whose authors have inspired me throughout my struggles to provide as gifts to orphans and vulnerable youth I met during my travel to sub-Saharan Africa. After returning from a trip to Zambia in June 2019, I began to plan future travels to visit the orphans and vulnerable youth, and it suddenly occurred to me during a conversation with a friend in August 2019 that sharing my own story would enable me to connect and relate to the orphans and vulnerable youth, since I have walked in their shoes after losing both parents at a young age. I was further inspired to share my own story after a Sabbath school discussion at church about living a legacy of God’s faithfulness in one’s life for the generation behind you. In October 2019, I finally made the decision to publish this twenty--day devotional on God’s continued faithfulness in my life. First, I created an outline of key topics and life lessons I wanted to impart into the lives of my readers, which made me realize I had a lot more to share than just a few pages. My hope with this devotional is to encourage orphans, vulnerable youth around the world, and anyone who has had to overcome many obstacles throughout life.

Book Singapore s Approach to Developing Teachers

Download or read book Singapore s Approach to Developing Teachers written by Woon Chia Liu and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-09-28 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Singapore’s education system has come to international attention due to its commendable performance on the Worldwide Educating for the Future Index produced by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), as well as the students’ continual sterling performance in internationally benchmarked tests such as Trends in International Math and Science Survey (TIMSS), and Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). The accomplishments are the result of a long-haul vision of education, and more importantly, a deep commitment towards developing teachers for the 21st century. Singapore has invested steadfastly from the early years in teachers at the front line of the classrooms in schools. This book explicates the ‘thinking’ behind Singapore’s approach to developing teachers and building the teaching profession. It examines how Singapore strives to attract the best and the brightest people to become teachers, develop them into autonomous professionals, and grow them over their career so that they are able to deliver quality education for every child. The author hopes that by sharing the hindsight, insight and foresight of the system, and looking at Singapore's aspirations and challenges, the book can stimulate reflection and generate discussion, and provide ideas for improving teaching and teacher learning worldwide.

Book In Pursuit of Foresight

Download or read book In Pursuit of Foresight written by Mike Lauder and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-23 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many inquiry reports blame management for their failures of foresight. These reports are based on the premise that, with a little more thought, these oversights, and so the crisis, would have been avoided. Is it really that simple? The important question is whether, without hindsight, it would have even been possible to identify the actual factors that lead to the failure. This book explores this issue as a practical problem. The book takes Barry Turner’s Disaster Incubation Theory as its central theme. The first chapter explores the way Turner structured his theory and the way it has been used, before re-imagining it as a way to fostering foresight. The next three chapters examine key issues in detail. They explain why Turner's model was chosen, outline the issues that need to be considered when seeking to prevent such failures and how to use the proposed frameworks. Chapter 5 examines the lessons learnt from this study and, in particular, looks at the mental approach required when seeking such foresight. Finally, Chapter 6 provides a fully worked example. It uses work by Frank Stech who has applied Turner's theory to a past case. Crises occur everywhere and we continue to struggle to avoid them. In this book Mike Lauder provides executives with thinking tools to help them avoid missing the warning signs of their next crisis.

Book excerpt: This book contains original lyrics and lyrical poems representing stories of what could be anyone's life. Your own, my own, the good, the bad, and everything in between. For anyone who reads poetry, lyrics, or shares a love of rhyme and the written word. For any musicians in need of a set of lyrics, I would be thrilled to collaborate in any way on such a venture. The internal hope is that through my thoughts and emotions, others may find something to carry them through or to relate to. After all, what else is a lyric to do but to tell a tale to music. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as it has helped me in putting this book together from years I've kept in documentation.
