Book Foreordained Failure

Download or read book Foreordained Failure written by Steven Douglas Smith and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1999 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever since the Supreme Court began enforcing the First Amendment's religion clauses in the 1940s, courts and scholars have tried to distill the meaning of those clauses into a useable principle of religious freedom. In Foreordained Failure, Smith argues that efforts to find a principle of religious freedom in the "original meaning" are futile, but not because the original meaning is irrecoverable. The difficulty is that the religion clauses were not originally intended to approve any principle or right of religious freedom. Rather, the clauses were purely jurisdictional in nature; they were intended to do nothing more than confirm that authority over questions of religion remained with the states. This work will be of great interest to law scholars, lawyers, judges, and other readers concerned with the subject of religious freedom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first of multiple volumes we plan to publish if the Lord is willing. As I began listening to the sermons and reading the transcripts for this volume, I began to realize the practicality and the focus of Wayne as he challenges his hearers to think and to consider their actions along life's pathway. Wayne has a way of always challenging his audience. I believe all who will read the sermons in this book will find many nuggets of spiritual nourishment and find themselves facing serious spiritual questions in living for Jesus Christ. The messages are truly inspiring!

Book The Timeless Age of God

Download or read book The Timeless Age of God written by Russell Redden and published by Russell Redden. This book was released on 2009-03-17 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A doctrine once common in Apostolic times unlocks the meaning of many Bible passages. Ancient Jews, Christians, Gnostics, and Greek philosophers, believed that heaven is an unchanging place of timelessness-the first dimension where creation began, and will return at the end of time. This book catalogs evidence of this theology throughout the Bible, and numerous ancient texts. Unknown to the majority of Christians, the theology of two aeons is central to many Bible passages, many of them related to the ascension of Christ. The Son of Man ascended into the unchanging Spirit of God the Father, who lives in heaven outside of time and space. This knowledge was revealed to ancient Israel, a testimony of Christ's priesthood many years before He walked the earth.

Book Travel Through Ephesians

Download or read book Travel Through Ephesians written by Thomas L. Hiegel and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2013-06 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does Paul mean when he says, "to walk (lead a life) worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called"? God says to the readers of Ephesians and to each of us, "Here, my child. This is your identity, your position; stand in your rights!" Paul's great letter to the church located in a city full of idols and paganism is quite appropriate for study in our day. It could be called Paul's masterpiece because of its depth and vastness. Ephesians could be considered a theology course for every believer, or perhaps a treatise on the church. Paul desires every reader to mature in faith, love, character, and revelation. He celebrates in a basic theme of redemption by God and describes how the redeemed person should live. Paul's revelation on many subjects is our Scripture and guide for life. He expounds on: - existence in Christ; - the spiritual blessings of every believer; - the role of The Holy Spirit in the Christian's life; - the transformation of grace; - election, predestination and adoption of God's children; - redemption through Christ's blood; - family life; and - spiritual warfare and God's mighty armor. I encourage you to make a journey with me through Ephesians. I believe it will change your life.
