Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about my view of the tears shed by God and mankind in the process of deciding if we want to accept the free gift of eternal life God gave us through his son, or go our own way and spend eternity with Satan. God has put a burden on my heart for people who do not want to give their lives to Jesus and that do not want to let the Holy Spirit guide them through their life here on earth. I spent about half of my life without Jesus and over half with him and I am here to tell you it is much better with Jesus than without him. This book is my idea of how many tears God cried while hoping the human race would decide to be obedient. But after thousands of years of hoping, he realized the human race just cant seem to get it together so he went ahead with his plan to save the human race. Jesus Christ was born for the sole purpose of dying a horrible, horrible death to pay for all the things we do that do not please God. I hope this book will help people to see that without God we are nothing. We are in the end times and we need to decide, do we want to give our life to God or do we want to give our life to Satan? I hope and pray we all make the right decision.

Book Inheritance of Tears

Download or read book Inheritance of Tears written by Jessalyn Hutto and published by . This book was released on 2015-03-01 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a woman becomes pregnant, miscarriage is usually the furthest thing from her mind. Such was the case for Jessalyn Hutto when she became pregnant with her first baby. But as is all too common in our post-fall world, the life she carried came to an abrupt end. Death had visited her womb, and the horrors of miscarriage had become a part of her life’s story. ••• Ultimately, she would lose two children in the womb, at 6 and 15 weeks gestation. Through these painful losses, a whole new world of suffering opened up to her. It seemed that everywhere she looked women were quietly mourning the loss of their unborn children. Yet this particular type of loss has been grossly overlooked by the church. ••• Couples navigating the unique sorrow of losing a child are often left with little biblical counsel to draw upon. Well-meaning friends and family often offer empty platitudes and Christian clichés. But what these couples truly need is the hope of the gospel. ••• Short, sensitive, and theologically robust, Inheritance of Tears offers hope and comfort to those who are called to walk through the painful trial of miscarriage, and shows pastors and church members how to effectively minister to these parents in their time of need.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While I Was Yet Sinning is a compilation of short stories and lessons on how to be an effective Christian while yet a sinner. So many of us find ourselves reflecting on our failures and deeming ourselves unqualified to speak Christ to those whom we live and work with every day. While I Was Yet Sinning is reality-based, with stories of people who have gone through much, failed, and been challenged to continue delivering Christ to others. Their stories are Scripture-based and easy to read and apply. Just as Jesus empowered sinners to reach a fallen world while he walked on Earth, he now empowers us to continue the mission of bringing others to Him. For this mission, he forgives us as we come to him and ask. None of us will be perfect until we are in His presence, nor will those around us. While I Was Yet Sinning is a work in and about His grace.

Vernon McGee unravels the mystery of who God is and offers a solid theological understanding for the layman. Thoroughly biblical, Who Is God? dos not attempt to put Him in a box, but instead examines the biblical revelation and affirms that though God cannot be measured by human standards, He does reveal Himself to us. From learning about the Trinity to discussing God's character, Dr. McGee gives both believer and nonbeliever wise counsel on who God is and how He makes Himself known to us.

Book excerpt: Art Does art leave you cold? And is that what it's supposed to do? Or is a painting meant to move you to tears? Hemingway was reduced to tears in the midst of a drinking bout when a painting by James Thurber caught his eye. And what's bad about that? In Pictures and Tears, art historian James Elkins tells the story of paintings that have made people cry. Drawing upon anecdotes related to individual works of art, he provides a chronicle of how people have shown emotion before works of art in the past, and a meditation on the curious tearlessness with which most people approach art in the present. Deeply personal, Pictures and Tears is a history of emotion and vulnerability, and an inquiry into the nature of art. This book is a rare and invaluable treasure for people who love art. Also includes an 8-page color insert.

Book When Breath Becomes Air

Download or read book When Breath Becomes Air written by Paul Kalanithi and published by Random House. This book was released on 2016-01-12 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • PULITZER PRIZE FINALIST • This inspiring, exquisitely observed memoir finds hope and beauty in the face of insurmountable odds as an idealistic young neurosurgeon attempts to answer the question What makes a life worth living? NAMED ONE OF PASTE’S BEST MEMOIRS OF THE DECADE • NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The New York Times Book Review • People • NPR • The Washington Post • Slate • Harper’s Bazaar • Time Out New York • Publishers Weekly • BookPage Finalist for the PEN Center USA Literary Award in Creative Nonfiction and the Books for a Better Life Award in Inspirational Memoir At the age of thirty-six, on the verge of completing a decade’s worth of training as a neurosurgeon, Paul Kalanithi was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. One day he was a doctor treating the dying, and the next he was a patient struggling to live. And just like that, the future he and his wife had imagined evaporated. When Breath Becomes Air chronicles Kalanithi’s transformation from a naïve medical student “possessed,” as he wrote, “by the question of what, given that all organisms die, makes a virtuous and meaningful life” into a neurosurgeon at Stanford working in the brain, the most critical place for human identity, and finally into a patient and new father confronting his own mortality. What makes life worth living in the face of death? What do you do when the future, no longer a ladder toward your goals in life, flattens out into a perpetual present? What does it mean to have a child, to nurture a new life as another fades away? These are some of the questions Kalanithi wrestles with in this profoundly moving, exquisitely observed memoir. Paul Kalanithi died in March 2015, while working on this book, yet his words live on as a guide and a gift to us all. “I began to realize that coming face to face with my own mortality, in a sense, had changed nothing and everything,” he wrote. “Seven words from Samuel Beckett began to repeat in my head: ‘I can’t go on. I’ll go on.’” When Breath Becomes Air is an unforgettable, life-affirming reflection on the challenge of facing death and on the relationship between doctor and patient, from a brilliant writer who became both.

Book excerpt: This book of poetry is a continuation of the messages found in Songs from the Heart, the author’s first published work. Words that encourage faith and strengthen the heart for love and service are found in the pages of this book. Sometimes eliciting tears and occasionally coaxing a smile, the messages are fresh and yet timeless. The author continues to write when inspired by words that seem to flow onto the page to create a compelling message for Christians and those seeking a foundational belief system. Poetry is word art in its purest form. Christian poetry is form meeting function: “God’s will is that none should perish” (2 Pet. 3:9). Let these words reach into the recesses of your soul to rekindle hope in a loving Savior.
