Book For Robert Cooper

Download or read book For Robert Cooper written by Martin Parker and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-12-22 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robert Cooper, who died in 2013, was the leading theorist of organization working in England over the past few decades. Describing himself as a ‘social philosopher,’ he was one of the first writers to introduce post-structuralist and post-modern thought into theories of organization but was always reluctant to reduce what he did to being part of ‘Management.’ Instead, he concentrated on thinking about organizations and organizing, working with ideas about entity and process views of organizations, and also the dualisms of organization/environment, organization/disorganization, and concentrating particularly on ideas of the boundary or seam which divides and conjoins. He wrote about, and was influenced by systems theory and post-structuralist philosophy, particularly Whitehead, Bateson, Deleuze, Derrida, Foucault and Simmel. Cooper has already been the subject of much commentary but much of his work is not well known, and it deserves a wider readership. The purpose of this collection is to gather together a body of essays which are widely dispersed in journals and edited collections. This is a repository of pieces and extracts which stand the test of time, and scholars will benefit from a collection which pulls together some of his most influential work. The collection also contains two essays, one biographical and one intellectual, about Cooper and his work.

Book The Ambassadors

Download or read book The Ambassadors written by Robert Cooper and published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson. This book was released on 2021-02-18 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: History does not run in straight lines. Instead of inevitable progress, what we get is more often false starts, blind alleys, random events, good intentions that go wrong. Robert Cooper's incisive and elegant book is therefore not a continuous diplomatic history. Richelieu and Mazarin inhabited a 16th-century world we can hardly imagine today, but it is from their time that we can begin to see the outline of today's Europe. The Ambassadors includes a brilliant analysis of the people who built the Western side of the Cold War. Henry Kissinger is a pivotal figure in the post-war world, and his story is in some ways typical: he failed in his most important aims and succeeded in ways he never expected. Robert Cooper's pieces together history and considers the illuminating fragments it leaves behind.

Download or read book The Masonic Magician written by Philippa Faulks and published by . This book was released on 2018-01-19 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Count Alessandro Cagliostro's sincere belief in the magical powers, including immortality, conferred by his Egyptian Rite of Freemasonry won him fame, but made him dangerous enemies, too. His celebrated travels through the Middle East and the capitals of Europe ended abruptly in Rome in 1789, where he was arrested by the Inquisition and condemned to death for heresy. The Masonic Magician tells Cagliostro's extraordinary story, complete with the first English translation of his Egyptian Rite of Freemasonry ever published. The authors examine the case made against him, that he was an impostor as well as a heretic, and find that the Roman Church, and history itself, have done him a terrible injustice. This engaging account, drawing on remarkable new documentary evidence, shows that the man condemned was a genuine visionary and true champion of Freemasonry. His teachings have much to reveal to us today, not just of the secrets of the movement, but of the mysterious hostility it continues to attract."

Book Product Development For The Service Sector

Download or read book Product Development For The Service Sector written by Robert G. Cooper and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 1999-10-22 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the lines between products and services become less and less distinct, many managers and consultants advocate that manufacturing companies learn to think like the service sector—get close to the customer, offer multi-dimensional solutions, provide high-quality support. But in today's highly competitive and constantly changing marketplace, managers in service industries, such as banking, insurance, financial services, utilities, and retailing, can benefit enormously by thinking like manufacturers—employing a rigorous product development model to create and test new offerings, develop the most promising ones, and see them to market successfully. In Product Development for the Service Sector, product development experts Cooper and Edgett draw from their extensive research, teaching, and consulting experience to offer service sector executives and managers a comprehensive overview of the principles of product development and how they can be successfully applied in any service industry.
