He lived by the truth of 1 Peter 5:10: "But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you." While this is a relatively small volume, it is packed with divine truth, written by a master of the devotional life. The book must be read and reread slowly, allowing the Spirit of God to penetrate one's heart with this biblically-based truth. As Christians, we are exhorted to "imitate the faith" of those worthies who have gone before us (Heb. 13:8). The faith of George Steinberger is worthy to be imitated, as he challenges us to "follow the Lamb wherever He goes (Rev. 14:4).Ole Hallesby, author of the classic volume "Prayer," said about this book: "I know of no devotional book that I have reread so many times. It is to an unusual degree filled with words of eternal life. Though many years of bitter suffering, its author learned to see the Savior as the Lamb of God and himself to walk the pathway 'in the footprints of the Lamb."
