Indigenous people hunted quaggas, portrayed them in rock art, and told stories about them. Settlers used quaggas to pull wagons and to protect livestock against predators. Taken to Europe, they were admired, exhibited, harnessed to carriages, illustrated by famous artists and written about by scientists. Excessive hunting led to quaggas' extinction in the 1880s but DNA from museum specimens showed rebreeding was feasible and now zebras resembling quaggas live in their former habitats. This rebreeding is compared with other de-extinction and rewilding ventures and its appropriateness discussed against the backdrop of conservation challenges—including those facing other zebras. In an Anthropocene of species extinction, climate change and habitat loss which organisms and habitats should be saved, and should attempts be made to restore extinct species?

This is indeed a fulfillment of a Quranic prophecy (74:30-31). 14.The improbability and impossibility of the numerical structure of the Quran being produced by a medieval Arab genius becomes evident when we consider the following factors: It includes simple elements of the Quran and goes deeper to an interlocking system of complex numerical patterns and relationships. It involves not only frequencies of letters and words but also the numerical values of letters. It involves not only an intricate numerical pattern but also a huge set of data consisting of units with multiple functions, such as letters that are also digits, words that are also numbers. The nemeroliteral aspect of the Quran were not known by the adherents of the Quran until late 1960s and especially, 1974. The literary aspect of the Quran has received praises from many literary giants throughout centuries. The scientific accuracy of Quranic statements on various fields has been immaculate. Muhammad was one of the busiest and greatest social and political reformists in human history. The timing of the discovery of the code is precise and prophetic. A series of prophetic events regarding the code has been fulfilled.

Where I went to school all the teachers were Nuns, and I didn't like school much. All my friends wanted to be basketball stars. I was better at croquet. Anyway, now that I'm sixteen and about grown-up, I don't get bothered about that stuff so much. Just between you and me, sometimes I have these funny dreams. I know what you're thinking. No, they're not that kind. They're about zebras. Anyway, these zebras don't always look the same. Sometimes their stripes, the ones that are supposed to be white, change colors. Like red! I know a lot of girls, two I really like are Vicky and Candy. But they are not my girlfriends or anything like that. They're just friends of mine. You know, we hang out at school. Also, I think cars are cool. My friend got a Mustang, really nice, and I got this MG, not so nice, and it needed a bunch of work. Oh, I forgot to mention I got in this car wreck. Only, I'm getting a little ahead in my story. Well, I'm not going to say anything more about my personal life, so if you want the whole story, you're just going to have to read The Sunburned Zebra.
