Download or read book Modal Testing written by D. J. Ewins and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-07-20 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All the steps involved in planning, executing, interpreting and applying the results from a modal test are described in straightforward terms. This edition has brought the previous book up to date by including all the new and improved techniques that have emerged during the 15 years since the first edition was written, especially those of signal processing and modal analysis. New topics are introduced, notable amongst them are the application of modal testing to rotating machinery and the use of scanning laser vibrometer.
Download or read book Flutter and Vibration Analysis by a Modal Method written by William P. Rodden and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A modal solution of the flutter and vibration problems for a multiple component system is presented. The formulation requires the aerodynamic characteristics in the form of aerodynamic influence coefficients, and the structural and inertial characteristics in the form of free vibration modes and frequencies and a mass matrix for each component. The use of a rigid-body modal matrix permits a general analysis for a system free in space with up to six rigid-body degrees of freedom. The solution also utilized a newly developed subroutine for finding the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a non-Hermitian matrix having close roots, and obtains the corresponding values of frequency, required structural damping, and velocity of the flutter system. The Aerospace IBM 7090 Computer Program No. LD014A provides the flutter or vibration solution for a system composed of as many as 20 flexible components, each of which may have up to 50 control points. The solution is carried out by a modal (series) method choosing a series of up to 40 cantilever and/or free-free vibration modes to approximate and control point deflections. The program may be used to find the vibration characteristics of a composite system if the cantilever vibration characteristics of the components are known. (Author).
Download or read book Modal Analysis written by Zhi-Fang Fu and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-09-04 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modal Analysis provides a detailed overview of the theory of analytical and experimental modal analysis and its applications. Modal Analysis is the processes of determining the inherent dynamic characteristics of any system and using them to formulate a mathematical model of the dynamic behavior of the system. In the past two decades it has become a major technological tool in the quest for determining, improving and optimizing dynamic characteristics of engineering structures. Its main application is in mechanical and aeronautical engineering, but it is also gaining widespread use in civil and structural engineering, biomechanical problems, space structures, acoustic instruments and nuclear engineering. - The only book to focus on the theory of modal analysis before discussing applications - A relatively new technique being utilized more and more in recent years which is now filtering through to undergraduate courses - Leading expert in the field

Download or read book Nonlinearity in Structural Dynamics written by K Worden and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-04-23 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many types of engineering structures exhibit nonlinear behavior under real operating conditions. Sometimes the unpredicted nonlinear behavior of a system results in catastrophic failure. In civil engineering, grandstands at sporting events and concerts may be prone to nonlinear oscillations due to looseness of joints, friction, and crowd movements.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every so often, a reference book appears that stands apart from all others, destined to become the definitive work in its field. The Vibration and Shock Handbook is just such a reference. From its ambitious scope to its impressive list of contributors, this handbook delivers all of the techniques, tools, instrumentation, and data needed to model, analyze, monitor, modify, and control vibration, shock, noise, and acoustics. Providing convenient, thorough, up-to-date, and authoritative coverage, the editor summarizes important and complex concepts and results into “snapshot” windows to make quick access to this critical information even easier. The Handbook’s nine sections encompass: fundamentals and analytical techniques; computer techniques, tools, and signal analysis; shock and vibration methodologies; instrumentation and testing; vibration suppression, damping, and control; monitoring and diagnosis; seismic vibration and related regulatory issues; system design, application, and control implementation; and acoustics and noise suppression. The book also features an extensive glossary and convenient cross-referencing, plus references at the end of each chapter. Brimming with illustrations, equations, examples, and case studies, the Vibration and Shock Handbook is the most extensive, practical, and comprehensive reference in the field. It is a must-have for anyone, beginner or expert, who is serious about investigating and controlling vibration and acoustics.
