Download or read book The Gas bearing Devonian Manetoe Facies Yukon and Northwest Territories written by D. W. Morrow and published by Geological Survey of Canada. This book was released on 1990 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Manetoe Facies is an extremely widespread, white, sparry dolomite of diagenetic origin, developed in Devonian strata of northern Canada, north of 60N latitude. In the subsurface southeast of the Mackenzie Mountains, the Manetoe Facies contains 3 large gas fields. Recognition of the diagenetic character of the Manetoe Facies has led to a reappraisal of its origin, important both from the standpoint of petroleum exploration and because of the similarity of the facies to other megacrystalline, white, sparry dolomites, such as those associated with Mississippi Valley type lead-zinc deposits. This paper presents a more complete characterization, documentation and interpretation of the Manetoe Facies and its diagenetic minerals (such as quartz and clacite), and an interpretation of the origin of its hydrocarbons.

Download or read book Basin wide Diagenetic Patterns written by Isabel P. Montañez and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By integrating the methods of different investagitive fields, this work gives us an interdisciplinary look at basic-scale subsurface fluid flow and its link to regional patterns of diagenesis, metasomatism, sedimentary ore deposits, and hydrocarbon accumulations. Issues addessed include the temporal evolution of hydrodynamic system, paleoflow conduits and their diagenetic products, subsurface fluid-rock interactions, the geochern-istry of basinal fluids, and heat flow in sedimentary basins. Paleo-fluid flow in both carbonate and siliciclastic systems is covered.
Download or read book Carbonate Cementation in Sandstones written by Sadoon Morad and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-04-15 with total page 541 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carbonate cements are very common and abundant in clastic sequences. They profoundly influence the quality of hydrocarbon reservoirs and supply important information on palaeoenvironments and the chemical composition and flow patterns of fluids in sedimentary basins. Despite this importance, their distribution patterns in time and space and their geochemical evolution are not yet deeply explored and elucidated. This Special Publication contains 21 review papers and case studies on carbonate cementation in clastic sequences written by invited specialists on the subject. These papers present a wide and deep coverage that enhance our knowledge about carbonate cementation in various clastic depositional environments, tectonic settings and burial histories. The book will be of special interest to researchers, petroleum geologists and teachers and students at the postgraduate level. Download or read book The Geometry and Petrogenesis of Dolomite Hydrocarbon Reservoirs written by Colin J. R. Braithwaite and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2004 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The wide distribution of dolomite rocks in North American, Middle- and Far-Eastern hydrocarbon reservoirs is reason enough for their intensive study. In this volume dolomite enthusiasts review progress and define the current boundaries of dolomite research, related particularly to the importance of these rocks as reservoirs.
