Book Fluid Flow In Porous Media Fundamentals And Applications

Download or read book Fluid Flow In Porous Media Fundamentals And Applications written by Liang Xue and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-09-24 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Processes of flow and displacement of multiphase fluids through porous media occur in many subsurface systems and have found wide applications in many scientific, technical, and engineering fields. This book focuses on the fundamental theory of fluid flow in porous media, covering fluid flow theory in classical and complex porous media, such as fractured porous media and physicochemical fluid flow theory. Key concepts are introduced concisely and derivations of equations are presented logically. Solutions of some practical problems are given so that the reader can understand how to apply these abstract equations to real world situations. The content has been extended to cover fluid flow in unconventional reservoirs. This book is suitable for senior undergraduate and graduate students as a textbook in petroleum engineering, hydrogeology, groundwater hydrology, soil sciences, and other related engineering fields.

Book Computer Simulations of Two fluid Immiscible Displacement Flow in Porous Media

Download or read book Computer Simulations of Two fluid Immiscible Displacement Flow in Porous Media written by Dionissios Georgios Kiriakidis and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The validity of the algorithms is tested by comparing the numerical results with physical experiments available in the literature. Comparisons between the two approaches reveal that (a) the stochastic approach is more efficient in terms of execution time in the computer, (b) the deterministic approach better describes the physics of the problem, and (c) the deterministic approach has more potential to be extended to other problems. It is proposed that the present programs can be used to successfully predict two-fluid immiscible displacement flow in porous media for other relevant situations.

Book Flow Visualization Techniques And Examples 2nd Edition

Download or read book Flow Visualization Techniques And Examples 2nd Edition written by Alexander J Smits and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2012-08-02 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the 2nd edition of the book, Flow Visualization: Techniques and Examples, which was published by Imperial College Press in 2000. Many of the chapters have been revised and updated to take into consideration recent changes in a number of flow visualization and measurement techniques, including an updated high quality flow gallery. Unique among similar publications, this book focuses on the practical rather than theoretical aspects. Obtaining high quality flow visualization results is, in many ways, more of an art than a science, and experience plays a key deciding role. The depth and breadth of the material will make this book invaluable to readers of all levels of experience in the field.

Book Flow Visualization and Image Analysis

Download or read book Flow Visualization and Image Analysis written by F.T. Nieuwstadt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in fluid mechanics depends heavily on the availability of good experimental data which can inspire new ideas and concepts but which are also necessary to check and validate theories and numerical calculations. With the advent of new recording and image analysis techniques new and promising experimental methods in fluid flows have presented themselves which are rather newly developed techniques such as particle tracking velocimetry (PTV), particle image velocimetry (PIV) and laser fluorescene (LIF). This volume presents state-of-the-art research on these techniques and their application to fluid flow. Selected papers from the EUROMECH conference on Image Analysis are published in this volume.

Book Visualized Flow

    Book Details:
  • Author : Yasuki Nakayama
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 1988
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 172 pages

Download or read book Visualized Flow written by Yasuki Nakayama and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flow Visualization always plays an important role in understanding flow phenomena and contributes significantly to the physical intuitive reasonong necessary to successfully apply the knowledge gained to real life situations. This book is designed to enhance the understanding of basic flow phenomena through over 200 high quality flow visualization photographs, some in colour, and explanations. The book opens with a summary of flow visualization methods, and then proceeds to present flow phenomena as revealed by various flow visualization techniques. The treatment ranges from fundamental aspects, such as laminar and turbulent flow, to engineering applications; for example, understanding why cavitation damage occurred on the runner of a Francis turbine. Current and new visualization techniques are employed such that invisible flow, as in air and water, is made clearly visible and comprehensible. Visualized Flow was compiled and edited under the guidance of the Japanese Society of Mechanical Engineers. This English edition will be indispensable to engineers, researchers and students in understanding flow phenomena across the wide range of sciences wherever fluid flow is important.

Book Numerical Simulation of Incompressible Viscous Flow

Download or read book Numerical Simulation of Incompressible Viscous Flow written by Roland Glowinski and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-09-20 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book on finite element-based computational methods for solving incompressible viscous fluid flow problems shows readers how to apply operator splitting techniques to decouple complicated computational fluid dynamics problems into a sequence of relatively simpler sub-problems at each time step, such as hemispherical cavity flow, cavity flow of an Oldroyd-B viscoelastic flow, and particle interaction in an Oldroyd-B type viscoelastic fluid. Efficient and robust numerical methods for solving those resulting simpler sub-problems are introduced and discussed. Interesting computational results are presented to show the capability of methodologies addressed in the book.

Book Viscous Flow

    Book Details:
  • Author : Hilary Ockendon
  • Publisher : Cambridge University Press
  • Release : 1995-01-27
  • ISBN : 9780521458818
  • Pages : 130 pages

Download or read book Viscous Flow written by Hilary Ockendon and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1995-01-27 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many of the topics in inviscid fluid dynamics are not only vitally important mechanisms in everyday life but they are also readily observable without any need for instrumentation. It is therefore stimulating when the mathematics that emerges when these phenomena are modelled is novel and suggestive of alternative methodologies. This book provides senior undergraduates who are already familiar with inviscid fluid dynamics with some of the basic facts about the modelling and analysis of viscous flows. It clearly presents the salient physical ideas and the mathematical ramifications with exercises designed to be an integral part of the text. By showing the basic theoretical framework which has developed as a result of the study of viscous flows, the book should be ideal reading for students of applied mathematics who should then be able to delve further into the subject and be well placed to exploit mathematical ideas throughout the whole of applied science.
