Book Basic Studies on the Dual Polymer Flocculation of Iron Hydroxide

Download or read book Basic Studies on the Dual Polymer Flocculation of Iron Hydroxide written by Adegbite Adeleke Adesipo and published by Anchor Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2017-11 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The efficiency of synthetic flocculants in flocculation processes has been identified by several authors over the years, and this makes it applicable in the industry. Nowadays, studies are focused on the combination of polymers for optimal performance. In this study, the physicochemical conditioning of iron hydroxide suspension (obtained sludge from the lignite mined sites in the Lusatia region of Germany) was investigated with flocculants of different properties as single polymer conditioning (C492 and A130) and as dual-polymer conditioning (C492+N300, A130+N300 and C492+A130) using Jar test. C492 is a cationic flocculant, A130 is an anionic flocculant, and N300 is a non-ionic flocculant. Turbidity of the supernatant and the sludge volume index were the assessing parameters considered under dosage range of 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 2.0, 2.8 and 3.6 mg/gTS. The obtained optimization results were compared to the actual separation with respect to specific filtration resistance from pressure filtration. The obtained results show some interesting differences which are discussed in this book.

Book Clays in the Minerals Processing Value Chain

Download or read book Clays in the Minerals Processing Value Chain written by Markus Gräfe and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-08-31 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Clays are increasingly becoming a major problem in the mining, extraction and value-adding processes for a wide range of commodity raw materials. Clays can impact negatively on virtually every unit process within the mining and minerals processing sector, having long-term environmental implications that go well beyond the lifetime of the mining operation. This book is the first to compile, explain and evaluate the effects of clays in the mineral processing value chain, from mining to minerals processing, and finally, tailings disposal. Focusing on topics from the chemistry and rheology of clays to their detection and dissolution behaviour, this book provides comprehensive coverage of the effects on processes such as settling, preg-robing, flotation and comminution. It is an excellent reference for professional mineralogists and geologists, industrial engineers, and researchers interested in clays and clay minerals.

Download or read book Solution Chemistry written by P. Somasundaran and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-11-13 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surfactants have been used for many industrial processes such as flotation, enhanced oil recovery, soil remediation and cleansing. Flotation technology itself has been used in industry since the end of the 19th century, and even today it is an important method for mineral processing and its application range is expanding to other areas. This technology has been used in the treatment of wastewater, industrial waste materials, separation and recycling of municipal waste, and some unit processes of chemical engineering. The efficiency of all these operations depends primarily on the interactions among surfactants, solids and media. In this book, the fundamentals of solution chemistry of mineral/surfactant systems are discussed, as well as the important calculations involved. The influence of relevant physico-chemical conditions are also presented in detail.* Introduces the fundamentals of solution chemistry of mineral/surfactant systems and important calculations involved * Discusses the influence of relevant physico-chemical conditions * Presents the relationship between the molecular structure of the flotation regents of solution chemistry and its characteristics
