Book Flexible Pavement Design Correlation Study

Download or read book Flexible Pavement Design Correlation Study written by National Research Council (U.S.). Highway Research Board and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 19 agencies participated in a correlation study of the necessary thickness of pavement to carry a range of single and tandem axle loads. The results, summarized and discussed in this paper show that the different design methods used by the different agencies gave some rather large variations in the thicknesses of pavement as designed for the specified traffic.

Book Bearing Capacity of Roads Railways and Airfields

Download or read book Bearing Capacity of Roads Railways and Airfields written by Andreas Loizos and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-07-20 with total page 4383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bearing Capacity of Roads, Railways and Airfields includes the contributions to the 10th International Conference on the Bearing Capacity of Roads, Railways and Airfields (BCRRA 2017, 28-30 June 2017, Athens, Greece). The papers cover aspects related to materials, laboratory testing, design, construction, maintenance and management systems of transport infrastructure, and focus on roads, railways and airfields. Additional aspects that concern new materials and characterization, alternative rehabilitation techniques, technological advances as well as pavement and railway track substructure sustainability are included. The contributions discuss new concepts and innovative solutions, and are concentrated but not limited on the following topics: · Unbound aggregate materials and soil properties · Bound materials characteritics, mechanical properties and testing · Effect of traffic loading · In-situ measurements techniques and monitoring · Structural evaluation · Pavement serviceability condition · Rehabilitation and maintenance issues · Geophysical assessment · Stabilization and reinforcement · Performance modeling · Environmental challenges · Life cycle assessment and sustainability Bearing Capacity of Roads, Railways and Airfields is essential reading for academics and professionals involved or interested in transport infrastructure systems, in particular roads, railways and airfields.

Book Flexible Pavement Design and Performance Studies 1962

Download or read book Flexible Pavement Design and Performance Studies 1962 written by National Research Council (U.S.). Highway Research Board and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paper 1 reports the test methods used and results obtained in evaluating the performance of 115 mi of flexible pavement. Paper 3 describes some aspects of theoretical and experimental work carried out in South Africa, over the past four years, in a study of 'chicken net' cracking of a road surfacing, and of the flexure induced in it by wheel loads. Paper 4 evaluates design procedures presently in use in South Dakota. Paper 5: A method was developed using the Benkelman beam to measure deflection of the individual layers of the pavement structure.

Download or read book Flexible Pavement Design Research 1959 written by National Research Council (U.S.). Highway Research Board and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paper 1: Asphalt penetration macadam base was used for the flexible pavement constructed on the New Jersey Turnpike. Paper 2: An apparatus is described for measuring the forces exerted at a point on a road surface by the wheels of moving vehicles. Paper 3: This re-evaluation of previous methods of evaluating subgrade support consisted of a statistical comparison of actual pavement performances with the designed life as anticipated or predicted by the design curves currently in use. On this basis, projects were selected, design records assembled, performances surveyed, and the data analyzed.
