Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book provides a detailed introduction to the theory of connections on principal sheaves in the framework of Abstract Differential Geometry (ADG). This is a new approach to differential geometry based on sheaf theoretic methods, without use of ordinary calculus. This point of view complies with the demand of contemporary physics to cope with non-smooth models of physical phenomena and spaces with singularities. Starting with a brief survey of the required sheaf theory and cohomology, the exposition then moves on to differential triads (the abstraction of smooth manifolds) and Lie sheaves of groups (the abstraction of Lie groups). Having laid the groundwork, the main part of the book is devoted to the theory of connections on principal sheaves, incorporating connections on vector and associated sheaves. Topics such as the moduli sheaf of connections, classification of principal sheaves, curvature, flat connections and flat sheaves, Chern-Weil theory, are also treated. The study brings to light fundamental notions and tools of the standard differential geometry which are susceptible of the present abstraction, and whose role remains unexploited in the classical context, because of the abundance of means therein. However, most of the latter are nonsensical in ADG.

Download or read book Sheaves in Topology written by Alexandru Dimca and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Constructible and perverse sheaves are the algebraic counterpart of the decomposition of a singular space into smooth manifolds. This introduction to the subject can be regarded as a textbook on modern algebraic topology, treating the cohomology of spaces with sheaf (as opposed to constant) coefficients. The author helps readers progress quickly from the basic theory to current research questions, thoroughly supported along the way by examples and exercises.
Download or read book Differential Sheaves And Connections A Natural Approach To Physical Geometry written by Anastasios Mallios and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2015-09-17 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique book provides a self-contained conceptual and technical introduction to the theory of differential sheaves. This serves both the newcomer and the experienced researcher in undertaking a background-independent, natural and relational approach to 'physical geometry'. In this manner, this book is situated at the crossroads between the foundations of mathematical analysis with a view toward differential geometry and the foundations of theoretical physics with a view toward quantum mechanics and quantum gravity. The unifying thread is provided by the theory of adjoint functors in category theory and the elucidation of the concepts of sheaf theory and homological algebra in relation to the description and analysis of dynamically constituted physical geometric spectrums.

This book was released on 1998-10-31 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents a solution of the harder part of the problem of defining globally arbitrary Lie group actions on such nonsmooth entities as generalized functions. This work addresses those who are interested in solving nonlinear PDEs, and in particular, in studying the Lie group symmetries of their classical or generalized solutions. This new method extends and completes earlier results of the author and collaborators, in which global Lie group actions on generalized functions were only defined in the case of projectable or fiber preserving Lie group actions. Download or read book Geometry of Vector Sheaves written by Anastasios Mallios and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second volume of a two-volume monograph which obtains fundamental notions and results of the standard differential geometry of smooth manifolds, without using differential calculus. Here, the sheaf-theoretic character is emphasized. This has theoretical advantages such as greater perspective, clarity and unification, but also practical benefits ranging from elementary particle physics, via gauge theories and theoretical cosmology (differential spaces), to non-linear PDEs (generalized functions). Thus, more general applications, which are no longer smooth in the classical sense, can be coped with. The treatise might also be construed as a new systematic endeavour to confront the ever-increasing notion that the world around us is far from being smooth enough.

Download or read book Fourier Mukai and Nahm Transforms in Geometry and Mathematical Physics written by CLAUDIO BARTOCCI and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-06-12 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integral transforms, such as the Laplace and Fourier transforms, have been major tools in mathematics for at least two centuries. In the last three decades the development of a number of novel ideas in algebraic geometry, category theory, gauge theory, and string theory has been closely related to generalizations of integral transforms of a more geometric character. "Fourier–Mukai and Nahm Transforms in Geometry and Mathematical Physics" examines the algebro-geometric approach (Fourier–Mukai functors) as well as the differential-geometric constructions (Nahm). Also included is a considerable amount of material from existing literature which has not been systematically organized into a monograph. Key features: Basic constructions and definitions are presented in preliminary background chapters - Presentation explores applications and suggests several open questions - Extensive bibliography and index. This self-contained monograph provides an introduction to current research in geometry and mathematical physics and is intended for graduate students and researchers just entering this field.
