Not too long afterwards, their parents descend to their deaths over the edge of a cliff, leaving them the family estate coupled with a vast fortune. William and Elsie Percival grow up living a debauched life of partying, opulence and luxury. Soon enough, their money begins to dwindle, they have to concoct a plan to revive their waning funds. During one of their many parties, they unearth a trunk in the attic; the contents : the secret to the Percival diamond that allegedly went missing decades before. The guests that arrive at Oakmere Hall are a mixed bunch. Death also pays a visit. Death is an insomniac that weekend: a poisoning, shooting and a fall bring Inspector Thomas and his bumbling sidekick Constable Turner hurrying up to the estate to try to get to the bottom of the enigma. Finally the mystery is solved, but is this the end, or has a plan for revenge just begun? Book reviews online: PublishedBestsellers website.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perhaps the only thing as dear to Louis Daniel Brodsky as the beauty of the written word are his memories and experiences on the shores of Wisconsin's Lake Nebagamon, which the poet describes as "glory's hinterlands." The combination of his two passions is a wonderful example of the poetry of place--the kind of soul-forming and life-affirming locale that we all have somewhere in our lives. What the open road was to Whitman, the North Woods are to Brodsky.

Leading experts describe the concepts and roots of mindfulness, and examine the science that has led to this extraordinarily rich and ancient practice becoming a foundation to many contemporary, evidenced-based approaches in psychotherapy. The efficacy of mindfulness-based interventions in conditions as diverse as borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, alcohol and substance use, emotional dysregulation, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, chronic stress, eating disorders, and other medical conditions including type 2 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis is also described. The book is invaluable reading for all those curious about the current science around mindfulness and about how and when to incorporate it effectively into clinical practice.

Brodsky's working stiff from St. Louis, with his Bud Light-hued worldview and his uniquely foul-mouthed, malapropistic takes on modern life and his own tenuous place in it. This volume, the title of which is our unlikely hero's trademark interjection, brings together his narrations from seven of Brodsky's short-fiction books, in which he made spot appearances. Together, these episodes in the hilarious chronicle of a true American "rough" prove Brodsky's uncanny ability to satirize both the best and the worst of American culture. You will never again experience anything like Guarangoddamnteeya! -- guarangoddamnteeya!

Mysteriously, the evidence of the assassination disappeared... there is no weapon, no bullet shells, and no signs of gun discharge on their hands. A couple of weeks later he realizes that something supernatural happened, a split in his life existence, like a sort of dualism between two worlds. He meets himself, thirty years younger, seeing his own life from his parallel world until the day of his flight back home... again... and now realizes that his younger self has a lot to do with the murders and the threat hidden inside the airplane.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this important contribution to contemporary Romani Studies, Jan Ort focuses his anthropological research on a village in eastern Slovakia with a reputation for the ‘harmonious coexistence’ of its ethnically and linguistically heterogeneous populace. The author offers an ethnographic critique of this idyllic view, showing how historical shifts, as well as the naturalization of inequality and hierarchies, have led to the present situation; however, he also shows examples and methods of subversion and resistance to the village’s current power dynamics. Based primarily on participant observation within Romani families, the author's long-term research results in a fascinating text replete with ethnographic descriptions that allow readers to understand local, experiences, contexts, and divisions. These insights about the village lead to the key question of the book: Who actually is a local?

Book excerpt: Spavin Lawson kept his promise to the united human population of 32nd Century Texas City. He and his wife, Clarissa, had gathered the brightest minds they could find and put together the Technology Development Plan. The Plan was a template to build a civilization based upon ecologically sound principles. Unfortunately, the completion of The Plan required a population density that did not exist in the 32nd Century. Cataclysmic events a millennium earlier had reduced humans to uncivilized tribes totaling fewer than ten thousand people in what was once North America. Unknown to the citizens of the new city, long lost humans who were struggling to survive on Mars and Luna also assisted in the development of The Plan. A secret node on the Technology Development Plan was dedicated to the eventual reunification of all Humankind. Spavin could not entrust the future of his progeny and the human race to chance. He knew that the two-hundred year plan would need a boost at the critical point of Reunification. With his family and Shadow Warrior Nevlyn Bydman, he used his time dilator so he could guide the completion of The Plan and ensure Humankind would find better times.
