Book Twenty five Years of Living in Leather

Download or read book Twenty five Years of Living in Leather written by Steven Stein and published by . This book was released on 2016-09-02 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a detailed retrospective of the first twenty-five years of the National Leather Association: International. It follows the progression of one man's idea as it was achieved by the hands of many. As you will see while reading this story, the road that NLA took was certainly the one less traveled. The creation of the National Leather Association (NLA) marked the culmination of the hopes of many people for a national, pansexual organization that brought together all the diverse elements of the SM/leather/fetish community that emerged in the generation following World War II. While previous efforts to form a nationwide SM organization in the United States had failed, the NLA flourished and grew rapidly, particularly during its first decade. NLA chapters formed across the United States and Canada, and people attended the NLA's flagship event, the annual Living in Leather conference, from across the world. The first event of its kind, the Living in Leather (LIL) conference became a model for the other SM organizations and pioneered a format that remains common to virtually all SM conferences today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the secret heart of London, under the cover of endless darkness, is the Nightside. But enter at your own risk. The party animals who live here may be as inhuman as their appetites... My name is John Taylor. The Nightside is my home, and I’ve got a brand new full-time job there (in addition to my private eye work) as Walker—the Voice of the Authorities. I’m also marrying the love of my life, Suzie Shooter, the Nightside’s most fearsome bounty-hunter. But nothing comes easy here. Not life. Not death. And for certain, not happily-ever-after. Before I can say “I do,” I have one more case to solve as a private eye—and my first assignment as Walker. Both jobs would be a lot easier to accomplish if I weren’t on the run, from friends and enemies alike. And if my bride-to-be weren’t out to collect the bounty on my head...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: WINNER OF THE 2022 PULITZER PRIZE "A compelling and important history that this nation desperately needs to hear." -Bryan Stevenson, New York Times bestselling author of Just Mercy and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative Chasing Me to My Grave presents the late artist Winfred Rembert's breathtaking body of work alongside his story, as told to Tufts Philosopher Erin I. Kelly. Rembert grew up in a family of Georgia field laborers, joined the Civil Rights Movement as a teenager, survived a near-lynching at the hands of law enforcement, and spent seven years on chain gangs. There he learned the leather tooling skills that became the bedrock of his autobiographical paintings. Years later, encouraged by his wife, Patsy, Rembert brought his past to vibrant life in scenes of joy and terror, from the promise of southern Black commerce to the brutality of chain gang labor. Vivid, confrontational, revelatory, and complex, Chasing Me to My Grave is a searing memoir in prose and painted leather that celebrates Black life and summons readers to confront painful and urgent realities at the heart of American society.
