This book was released on 2019-02-19 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Losing weight is easy. We've all done it...too many times. But lost weight doesn't stay lost. That's the conundrum. It only took me 35 years to figure this out: my weight wasn't the problem. Eating wasn't even the problem. My weight, what I ate, and my relationship with food were symptoms of a deeper problem. No amount of dieting or exercise would fix what was going on. My problem wasn't physical; it was spiritual. Before you embark on your next diet du jour, stop. Forget the firehose of diet information (for which we have collectively contributed billions of dollars.) It's all haystack, no needles. No magic bullets. No miracle cures.Nothing will help with your weight struggle until you look inside. What will you see? You might discover why your little engine can't do anything but go back and forth between your highest and lowest weight. That's what I learned when I looked under the hood. As Christians, we have a unique advantage. God's Word gives us the ability to look at ourselves from His perspective. He made our bodies. He made the food our bodies are designed to eat. Do you think He might be willing and able to deliver us and help us live according to His design? (Hint: Yes!)How do we stop dieting and start living by His design? This book is part one in a series. It's for you-to help you identify and clear the obstacles that sabotage you in your weight loss journey.I'll walk you through the step-by-step process of preparing your heart for His transforming work. By the end, you'll be ready to cooperate with the Lord as He leads you to freedom. This isn't a diet book. You won't find recipes. Those won't do any good until you've done the work of preparing your heart. Let's get started!

  • ISBN : 0309089964
  • Pages : 277 pages

Download or read book Weight Management written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2003-12-01 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary purpose of fitness and body composition standards in the U.S. Armed Forces has always been to select individuals best suited to the physical demands of military service, based on the assumption that proper body weight and composition supports good health, physical fitness, and appropriate military appearance. The current epidemic of overweight and obesity in the United States affects the military services. The pool of available recruits is reduced because of failure to meet body composition standards for entry into the services and a high percentage of individuals exceeding military weight-for-height standards at the time of entry into the service leave the military before completing their term of enlistment. To aid in developing strategies for prevention and remediation of overweight in military personnel, the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command requested the Committee on Military Nutrition Research to review the scientific evidence for: factors that influence body weight, optimal components of a weight loss and weight maintenance program, and the role of gender, age, and ethnicity in weight management.
