Book A New Approach to Teaching Arabic Grammar

Download or read book A New Approach to Teaching Arabic Grammar written by Abdallah Nacereddine and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-10-22 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abdallah Nacereddine first taught Arabic in the United States before moving to Switzerland, where he led Arabic language courses at the League of Arab States and in conjunction with the Arab-Swiss Chamber of Commerce. He directed his own Institute for Arabic Language Teaching in Geneva, Lausanne, Bern, and Zurich, and taught Arabic at the United Nations in Geneva for over twenty-two years. At present, he is teaching at the International Labour Office. His teaching materials are the result of this experience and have been thoroughly tested in class. One of the first Arabic grammar books was published in the 13th century, under the title al-Alfia (didactic treatise in one thousand lines) by Ibn Malek (600-673 A. H. / 1203-1274 A. D) Since that time, Arabic grammar has not changed at all. In 1636, Thomas Erpenius published his definitive work, Grammatica Arabica, in Latin at Leiden. He followed a methodology which suited the European mind and adopted a specific terminology, which had to be applied by every non Arabic-speaking grammarian. Following this, several Arabic grammar books were published in different languages. Contrary to the grammar of other languages which have continued to evolve, Arabic grammar has remained unchanged. There are already a certain number of Arabic grammar books. What then is the point of publishing yet another? From his childhood, the author studied Arabic grammar, mainly from the al-Alfia treatise. He started to teach it in exactly the same archaic manner that he had learnt it. It was when he began to teach Arabic at the United Nations in Geneva to non-Arabic speakers in a multicultural context that he had to learn a new teaching method and its terminology. He therefore started to follow the European methodology for teaching Arabic grammar and to use its terminology.

Book Fluent Forever

Download or read book Fluent Forever written by Gabriel Wyner and published by Harmony. This book was released on 2014-08-05 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • For anyone who wants to learn a foreign language, this is the method that will finally make the words stick. “A brilliant and thoroughly modern guide to learning new languages.”—Gary Marcus, cognitive psychologist and author of the New York Times bestseller Guitar Zero At thirty years old, Gabriel Wyner speaks six languages fluently. He didn’t learn them in school—who does? Rather, he learned them in the past few years, working on his own and practicing on the subway, using simple techniques and free online resources—and here he wants to show others what he’s discovered. Starting with pronunciation, you’ll learn how to rewire your ears and turn foreign sounds into familiar sounds. You’ll retrain your tongue to produce those sounds accurately, using tricks from opera singers and actors. Next, you’ll begin to tackle words, and connect sounds and spellings to imagery rather than translations, which will enable you to think in a foreign language. And with the help of sophisticated spaced-repetition techniques, you’ll be able to memorize hundreds of words a month in minutes every day. This is brain hacking at its most exciting, taking what we know about neuroscience and linguistics and using it to create the most efficient and enjoyable way to learn a foreign language in the spare minutes of your day.

Book Arabic Grammar Nahw Meer English

  • Publisher : Independently Published
  • Release : 2018-04-24
  • ISBN : 9781980764922
  • Pages : 149 pages

Download or read book Arabic Grammar Nahw Meer English written by Mohammed Shamsuddin Sajid and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2018-04-24 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is Nahw? It is that science which teaches us how to join Nouns, Verbs and Particles to form a complete sentence and what the vowel/harakah of the last letter of each word should be. This science started from the time of Omar bin Khattab (RA) when harakahs were not used in writing. When one of the bedouins read part of the Ayah 3 of Surah At-Tauba ﴾أَنَّ اللهَ بَرِئٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِيْنَ وَرَسُوْلُهُ﴿with a Kasrah at the very end as rasulihi instead of dammah as in rasuluhu. This changed the meaning from "that Allah and His prophet are free from (dissolve) obligations to the polytheists to "that Allah is free from (dissolves) obligations to the polytheists and His prophet". The bedouin said if Allah dissolves His obligations to His prophet, so do I. After this incident Omar (RA) ordered that rules of Nahw be created. Why this book? First Meer Ali ibn Mohammed Al-Jurjani, the Author of Nahw Meer, does not need any introduction. His masterful book has been in use for centuries mostly in it's original language of Persian and it's Arabic and Urdu translations and it is taught in many schools in Indian subcontinent and other parts of the world. I felt, that there is a need for a literal translation in today's English for those of us who are more comfortable with it.
