This book was released on 2007 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a data sample of approximately 1.3 fb-1 collected with the D0 detector between 2002 and 2006, the orbitally excited charm state D$±top{s1}$(2536)has been observed with a measured mass of 2535.7 ± 0.6(stat) ± 0.5(syst) MeV/c2 via the decay mode B$0top{s}$ → D$-top{s1}$(2536)?+vX followed by D$±top{s1}$(2536) → D*±K$0top{S}$. By normalizing to the known branching ratio Br($ar{b}$ → D*- ?+vX) and to the number of reconstructed D* mesons with an associated identified muon, a first-ever measurement is made of the product branching ratio ($ar{b}$ →} D$-top{s1}$(2536)?+vX) • Br(D$-top{s1}$ → D*-K$0top{S}$). Assuming that D$-top{s1}$(2536) production in semileptonic decay is entirely from B$0top{s}$, an extraction of the semileptonic branching ratio Br(B$0top{s}$ → D$-top{s1}$(2536)?+vX) is made. Comparisons are made with theoretical expectations.

This book was released on 2007 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a data sample of approximately 1.3 fb−1 collected with the D0 detector between 2002 and 2006, the orbitally excited charm state D{sub s1}{sup ±}(2536) has been observed with a measured mass of 2535.7 ± 0.6(stat) {+-} 0.5(syst) MeV/c2 via the decay mode B{sub s}° → D{sub s1}−(2536)??X. A first measurement is made of the branching ratio product Br({bar B} → D{sub s1}−(2536)?+?X) · Br(D{sub s1}− → D*− K{sub S}°). Assuming that D{sub s1}−(2536) production in semileptonic decay is entirely from B{sub s}°, an extraction of the semileptonic branching ratio Br(B{sub s}° → D{sub s1}−(2536)?+?X) is made.

Book Measurement of Semileptonic B Decays Into Orbitally Excited Charm Mesons

Download or read book Measurement of Semileptonic B Decays Into Orbitally Excited Charm Mesons written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present a study of B decays into semileptonic final states containing charged and neutral D1(2420) and D*2(2460). The analysis is based on a data sample of 208 fb−1 collected at the?(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. With a simultaneous fit to four different decay chains, the semileptonic branching fractions are extracted from measurements of the mass difference?m = m(D**)-m(D) distributions. Product branching fractions are determined to be?(B → D1°l+?{sub l}) x?(D1° → D*+?−) = (2.97 ± 0.17 ± 0.17) x 10−3,?(B+ → D*2°l+?{sub l}) x?(D*2° → D{sup (*)+}?−) = (2.29 ± 0.23 ± 0.21) x 10−3,?(B° → D1−{ell}+?{sub {ell}}) x?(D1− → D*°?−) = (2.78 ± 0.24 ± 0.25) x 10−3 and?(B° → D*2−{ell}+?{sub {ell}}) x?(D*2− → D{sup (*)0}?−) = (1.77 ± 0.26 ± 0.11) x 10−3. In addition they measure the branching ratio?(D*2 → D?°)/?(D*2 → D{sup (*)}?−) = 0.62 ± 0.03 ± 0.02.

Book Measurement of the Inclusive Branching FractionsB B to D pi pi and B B to D pi pi

Download or read book Measurement of the Inclusive Branching FractionsB B to D pi pi and B B to D pi pi written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The D$0\atop{J}$ is a family of four orbitally excited mesons: D$*\atop{2}$(2460)0, D1(2420)0, D1(j = 1/2)-, and D$*\atop{0}$(j = 1/2)0. This dissertation presents the measurements of the inclusive branching fractions, [beta](B- 2!D*+[pi]-[pi]- ) and [beta](B- 2!D+[pi]-[pi]- ). The D$0\atop{J}$ provides an intermediate resonance for those two modes. The data used for this analysis consists of Runs 1-5 with total integrated luminosity of 343.38 fb-1, which is corresponding to 383.92 million B$\bar{B}$ pairs, provided by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory. The values presented are: [beta](B- 2!D+[pi]-[pi]- ) = (1.12 ± 0.02 ± 0.08) x 10-3; [beta](B- 2!D*+[pi]-[pi]- ) = (1.67 ± 0.03 ± 0.13) x 10-3.
