Book First Families of Alexander County North Carolina

Download or read book First Families of Alexander County North Carolina written by William White and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-05-17 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alexander County was formed in 1847 from Iredell, Caldwell and Wilkes Counties. This book provides family sketches and genealogical information on the first families to settle in Alexander County, NC. The earliest settlers date back to the early 1700s. William E. White in an unpublished manuscript dated 1926 documented many of the early settlers. This book continues his work and corrects / updates it. It also includes an index which was not included in White's manuscript and organizes his notes into a more consistent narrative. Throughout White's work there are references to other material and appendices which he evidently intended to include in the final book. Generally these materials have not been found, but where we have looked for the particular item, we will reference it in this edition.

Book Heads of Families at the First Census of the United States Taken in the Year 1790

Download or read book Heads of Families at the First Census of the United States Taken in the Year 1790 written by United States. Bureau of the Census and published by Genealogical Publishing Com. This book was released on 1992 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The original 1790 enumerations covered the present states of Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia. Unfortunately, not all the schedules have survived, the returns for the states of Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Virginia having been lost or destroyed, possibly when the British burned the Capitol at Washington during the War of 1812, though there seems to be no proof for this. For Virginia, taxpayer lists made in the years 1782-1785 have been reconstructed as replacements for the original returns" -- publisher website (December 2008).

Download or read book The History of Mecklenburg County Nc written by J. B. Alexander and published by Genealogical Publishing Com. This book was released on 2009-06 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Williams and McKinsey's monumental History of Frederick County, Maryland is also the repository for 1,100 genealogical and biographical sketches of West Maryland luminaries and their families. For all its magnificence, this work has a major shortcoming--it lacks an every-name index. Now, thanks to the prodigious efforts of Patricia A. Fogle, there is a complete name index to Williams and McKinsey's History of Frederick County, Maryland. Like the work it is based upon, the index is divided into two parts. The index to Volume I (the historical narrative) takes up the first third of Mrs. Fogle's effort, while the remaining two-thirds cover the genealogical sketches in Volume II. All told, the researcher will find more than 40,000 individuals named in this index.
