Book First Dog on the Moon s The Story of the Christmas Story

Download or read book First Dog on the Moon s The Story of the Christmas Story written by Andrew Marlton and published by Text Publishing. This book was released on 2010-10-25 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Christmas Story. Beautiful, simple, inspirational...and not just for Christians. Actually, it's not all that simple either. It turns out there are a few burning Christmass-y questions to tackle: • Who told the Christmas Story in the first place? • Why did they leave the donkey out? • Did the nativity really happen in a stable or in someone's spare room? • Three kings, or an unspecified number of wise men? • And where does the rowboat come into it? With the help of expert consultants the Biblical scallops, we hear all about the gospels and who wrote them. And what happened next. And how it's a story for all of us, that we can all have a part in. This is a gorgeous, funny, gentle-hearted retelling of the most famous story of all that also tells the story of the story itself. You'll want to read it aloud together, and sit down alone with it. You'll want to give it to the people you love, and get an extra one for yourself. It will be your favourite festive book this Christmas and every Christmas.

Book Certain Poor Shepherds

Download or read book Certain Poor Shepherds written by Elizabeth Marshall Thomas and published by Candlewick. This book was released on 2015-09-22 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A dog, a goat, and their flock follow the sight and scent of a star in a beautifully illustrated, keenly observed Nativity story. The story begins on a cold upland pasture where coarse grass and scrub cedar grew. The hour was midnight. The day was the first of winter. And the year of our Lord was not 1900 or 1600 or even 100. It was 0. On that night a white goat, Ima, and a huge, gray short-haired sheepdog, Lila, were keeping watch over a small flock of young sheep. Bright and dazzling, a star appears behind the cedars on the eastern skyline. It is big and powerful, and it has a pure, clean scent, like something halfway between honey and water. Lila, the sheepdog, and Ima, the goat, are compelled to follow the star on a journey to a humble manger in Bethlehem, a journey beset with danger, adventure, and love. In a story alive with insight and grace, best-selling author Elizabeth Scott Thomas brings us a striking portrait of the Nativity story from the captivating point of the view of the animal kingdom.

Book The Christmas Time Travelers 1

Download or read book The Christmas Time Travelers 1 written by L. M. Haynes and published by Christmas Time Travelers. This book was released on 2022-03-12 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Christmas Time Travelers by L. M. Haynes is a very original and fascinating Christmas story - one which is definitely a unique twist on the First Christmas for kids growing up, especially if they are dog lovers! In this tale, an inventor builds a time machine in which he decides to do a test on Christmas Eve. So, once he readies the machine and sets the automatic return timer for eight hours, he gets distracted by Christmas Carolers at his front door. Before he realizes it, his three dogs have run into the time machine and the gadget's door closed behind them - then, poof...the machine disappears. Realizing what has happened, the professor is saddened to have lost his three loved dogs, and his time machine. The next part of the book tells the story from the time-traveling dog's perspective, as they come across the Nativity scene of Jesus Christ being born. The dogs witness, first hand, the miracle of that evening. After a few hours, the trio of K-9s find a comfortable spot in the barn, and nestle down in some hay and drift off to sleep. Lily, one of the dogs, gets a little restless and decides to explore the barn while the others sleep. Lily brushes up against the blue blanket used to wrap the baby Jesus in his crib, and a piece of the blanket gets caught in Lily's collar. The professor realizes the timer was set for eight hours, and as that time is approaching, he sits in a chair to await the return of his time machine. Sure enough, at the right moment, the time machine reappears and the dogs are within; healthy, happy, and glad to return to their home. Only this time, there is a piece of the blue blanket still attached to Lily's collar as physical evidence of the dogs' journey to the First Christmas, and back. The illustrations by the author bring together the story with a visual theme making it an ideal bedtime story to be read to youngsters, especially during the holidays. Having the physical evidence of the blanket reinforces the faith of the professor, yet as the moral of the story says each of us needs to find our own evidence of our faith.
